The sauces were beyond amazing. I absolutely loved the asparagus and mushrooms, "bravos" potatoes, and squid. The ambiance gave a cozy, neoclassical vibe. read more

This place is busy. On a Sunday night at 6pm it was packed and we were lucky to get a table. Lots of tapas to choose from. Staff are crazy busy and sometimes difficult to flag down. Once you do get their attention they're friendly enough. Loved the razor clams and braves potatoes. Octopus was tasty. Don't miss dessert. The bread pudding was fabulous and only 2.89e. read more

This place is owned by the same restaurant group that owns Vinitus, La Flauta and Cerverceria Catalana. I accidentally went to 3 of their 4 restaurants in a span of 3 days, and didn't realize it until the last day when I realized the menu items looked similar and I asked the waiter. Out of their restaurants, this one is more expensive than the others and in a more touristy locations right in Plaza Catalunya. I guess rent is higher in the more touristy locations, so you pay for it in increased prices on the menu. To be honest, this was my least favorite of the bunch that I went to, but I was also dining solo here so I didn't get to try as many dishes as the other places (where I ate with someone else). I ate a light lunch here so I didn't order a ton of things, but most of what was on the menu I had tried over the last few days at the other restaurants. I did notice that the prices were definitely higher here for the same exact dishes. The same dessert I had gotten at Cerverceria Catalan was 2€ more here. - Croqueta - Pretty standard croqueta that you'll find at almost any other place in Barcelona. Nothing to write home about - you can get it if you're craving croquetas, but I'd save your stomach for other things on the menu. - Grilled Mini Octopus - These were mini grilled octopus with the tentacles, etc. so if you're squeamish about that, then stay away. These were fresh and delicious, and I'd definitely recommend this if you like grilled seafood. - Tortilla Espanola with Artichoke - This was just okay - it came with 2 small pieces of pan con tomate but the tortilla didn't taste super fresh to me. I've had better. Order more of what is on the tapas del dia since that will be the freshest and most interesting. Also, as with most tapas places, come with a group of 2-6 people (or more) so that you can try a variety of things. This place can get crowded and have a long wait, but the space is actually pretty big with an upstairs section and it has space for larger groups of 6-8 people. Overall, a decent place to eat tapas if you don't want to venture far from Plaza Catalunya, but you're going to pay more for the same food you can get at one of their other sister restaurants. This was the least favorite of mine out of the 3 restaurants from their group, but maybe it was because I was dining solo. Regardless, the prices are inflated here for the same food, so save yourself some euros and go to one of their other more affordable sister restaurants. Vinitus is my favorite of the bunch. read more

Worth the wait! Although there was a long line to get in my travel buddy and I were able to get seats at the bar. The waitlist didn't seem consistent, but definitely still worth the wait! Tapas and Tapas, so many to choose from and the house white wine also a winner. Service and crew were very attentive and organize even with the busy crowd. All the tapas explained well by each server. read more

Visited this delIghtful tapas restaurant multiple times while visiting Barcelona last October. Judging by the wait times, this place definitely does not need a great review from me, but the food, service and ambiance are everything you could want. read more

Usually, they say to avoid food near the tourist areas..Great Tapas right on the Rambla. We were hungry and not disappointed

Mixed feelings. I think I made some dubious choices when ordering. Montadito (piece of bread) with Iberian ham was delicious. So was the chicken and ham croquette. The grilled cuttlefish was just not grilled enough for me - no crisp whatsoever. The oil it was in was really good though. The fried baby fishes were also pretty basic. They have a large amount of cold tapas here so maybe that's the way to go. read more

Popular dinner spot and perfect if you want a huge, rich and colorful tapas dinner at midnight or later. Think garlic shrimp, deep fried artichokes, razor clams, iberico ham and tomato baguettes, asparagus and mushrooms with lots of butter, calamari, etc. For desert crème caramel and chocolate lava cake. Service was average at best. read more

Our airport driver recommended it. Our hotel staff recommended it. Our ancestors recommended it. It was delicious. When we arrived on a Saturday night 9:30ish sanz reservations we were old the wait was 45 minutes for 2. This seemed insane because our stomachs had started digesting themselves from the hunger. We returned earlier the next day to find open stools at the bar; these are a free-for-all so grab them instead of waiting in line to get your name on the list. We sat and received consistent service the entire time. Could there be anything better than the young Filipino waiter humming R&B hits behind the counter? Yes, yes there could be better: the food. We waled through the display case selecting a few ready-made tapas, then ordered several shared dishes. The artichokes were a delight, albeit a bit oily. The octopus was. the. bomb. The smoked salmon on their tapas was luscious. There was nothing that we didn't like about the items we tried. It helped that I speak Spanish when placing our order, but they easily accommodate non-Spanish speakers. They mostly have bottles of wine but have 2-3 wines they can offer by the glass. The space is small, so if you really want to try it call for a reservation or go early! Que disfrutes. read more

This is an amazing place. Once you go in turn to left and ask to put your name down. I had a party of 2 and the wait about 30 minutes after 9pm. Line moves quick for smaller parties. Unlike other places I've been in southern Spain, you can't just walk up and order tapas, you have to wait for your name to be called. I sat at the bar area, our server's name is Daniel from the Philippines. He is the #1 best waiter. He was friendly and gave great suggestions. Food: I stuck mainly with the seafood dishes. Vinegar anchovies (boqueron vinagre)- these are very common tapas in Spain. Its anchovies in vinegar and olive oil. Recommended Prawns (Gamba Roja Plancha)- These are very large sized prawns and are delicious. Grilled baby squid (Chipiron Andaluza) - Small baby squid grilled. Also Delicious Beef tenderloin (Solomillio) - This is medium done beef with a grilled peper (not spicy). Good but a little too much meat compared to seafood I ordered. Special Saute (Saleado Especial) -- saute calmarie, mushroom, jamon. The was a good mixture of seafood and ham that is so popular in Spain. I really liked the food. With a glass of white wine and five dishes the mean was 43 euros. read more

The minute we landed and dropped off our luggage at the hotel, what did we do? We went tapas hunting. Found Cuidad Condal on Yelp and was definitely happy with the selection. It is recommended to go early or reserve because these spanish people hibernate during the day and come out at night. The line up was ridiculous and knowing the way tapas style works, you can order while standing and waiting. So everyone is rushing to the tapas counter and elbowing their orders. We managed to find seats along the tapas bar area rather then dining but that was what I consider a better choice. The wait for a table was going to leave me sleepless at night and plus I was hungry from a long flight. It wasn't until we had a few bumps and bruises from these ladies that were very aggressive and mean, when we finally got a seat. Wouldn't be the same without going through this anyways. Once seated we had to figure out what we wanted to eat. So what we did was just kept pointing. Had no idea what we were ordering. None of it was regretful at all. Be careful of what you order and how much you order. You may think tapas food are bite size but after a few you get full. I made the big mistake of letting my stomach think too large and order almost $80's worth of tapas. Not doing that again. One dish i will remember the most is the Foie Gras sandwich. It was literally a small 6 inch baguette FILLED with foie gras pate. Rich rich pate. It was good to start but almost wanted to hurl after almost finishing it. I failed! Their sangria was the freshes i've ever had but i don't know if it was the best since we were in spanish territory. Despite the pushing and shoving and big bill, i definitely enjoyed my experience there. Will come again... when i reclaim my patience. read more

This is a really great tapas place and quite affordable as well. If you're up for a fancier dinner, this is a good option. We walked in with a group of 9 and luckily they were able to seat us but service was a bit slow at first. Eventually, our server came over and was very nice and patient. We ordered a bunch of different items plus sangria. The sangria was absolutely delicious! The cod with honey, the grilled shrimp, and the Iberian ham was amazing. Overall we got a ton of food, all extremely delicious. The standard in Barcelona is very high when it comes to food, which is why it got 4 stats from me - I have had way better tapas. read more

One of my favorite places in Spain. But I'm almost positive the name has changed. It is always packed, especially Thursday-Saturday. The bar area is always busy. But the food is amazing. The servers, especially Dani, are awesome. The pros, the bar area is lively and fun. The food comes out fast and fresh. The cons, sangria is not served by the glass (the could be a pro or a con, depending on how you look at it, lol). The bar is set right in front of the door, so on cool nights that sucks. The bar is always crazy and people are standing on top of you while you are trying to eat. It is perfectly located in the city. And has outdoor seating for when it is nice. read more

Really glad I made it to Cuitat Comtal! We arrived and the place was packed. It appeared to have a line, but it wasn't so don't get stuck there. I made my way to the front and put my name on the wait list. I figured we would grab a drink at the bar, and hope for the best. I was surprised that I barely had time to pay for my first drink and had my name called. Once going in, I could see how big the dining area was. So bottom line, don't be intimidated by the crowd. We ordered several tapas including steak foie, shrimp, muscles, croquets, Russian salad, crispy chicken and desert. Everything was cooked perfectly and amazing. We also had a nice port to finish the meal. Very worth a stop when you are in the area. read more

One of the best meals and experiences we had during our short three days in Barcelona. After a long day of walking and exploring Barcelona, we hopped into Ciudad Condal and found ourselves at the bar with an overwhelming variety of food on display before us. We were first given a menu to look over, but after a quick observation of the diners around us, we just started pointing and ordering whatever looks good. We started off with a pitcher of Sangria, which was strong and delicious. With the heavy rain pouring outside, it was the perfect drink choice for the evening. We then had the grilled razor clams, pollo croquette, fried baby squids, camembert, salted cod, smoked salmon on baguette, grilled anchovies and shrimp octopus skewers. Favorites are the razor clams and shrimp skewers! Seasoned lightly and grilled to perfection. Our bellies were stuffed and happy at the end of the night. What's best is that everything came out to be only 50 euro! Definitely a fun and tasty tapas experience and a must-go in Barcelona. read more

Non-tourist trap in a tourist-y area. Don't be fooled (like I initially was) by the high foot traffic and 1000+ reviews on yelp for a restaurant in BCN. The food is solid! We got the grilled cuttlefish, pulpo Galicia, chicken croquettes and shrimp+mushroom Montadito. The croquettes were the best I've had during my barcelona journey this far and the rest of the food is on par w/ other great tapas restaurants. Just accept the foot traffic and people watch over good food. Return? Yes! It's too close to home! read more

We had a great experience here and the tapas were terrific! Definitely worth checking out!

4.5. Very big tapas place with lots and of people both inside and out. We ordered chorizo and beef tenderloin sandwiches, and patatas bravas. The potatoes were the best. Not sure why the reviews for this place are so high. Our family came here per the recommendation of some friends who had eaten here on a business trip (they were actually with us). Maybe we ordered the wrong things but the food was just uninspiring and kinda boring. We had tapas at smaller restaurants in the area and I enjoyed them way more. I guess you could say this is a "high-end" tapas place with white cloths tables and all but I'd prefer something more low key. We also got a pitcher of sangria which was average. I'd say skip, or find someone who knows what to order. Otherwise, you'll just find yourself over paying for some mediocre tapas. read more

Great tapas bar and can get very crowded as the evening progresses. We got there just in time when a table by the bar opened up. The bar is s good place to sit as you can see all of the fresh ingredients and tapas being prepared. Ordered from the menu of the day and got the salted cod, grilled beef, fried artichokes, steamed mussels, and bruschetta with fig jam, fried eggplant and blood sausage. For dessert the house cake with whiskey sauce and Catalonian creme brûlée. Everything was delicious. The mussels tasted really fresh and sweet. Beef was grilled to perfection - so tender and juicy! Excellent meal and reasonably-priced. I plan to go back again before leaving Barcelona. read more

One of our fav meals we had in Barcelona and reasonably priced. 1) fried camembert covered in nuts with raspberry sauce (2.75 euro) - my fav! Could eat these all day 2) beef filet on toast (3.8 euro) - filet cooked perfectly 3) grilled anchovies - they were prepared well but anchovies are simply better cured than grilled 4) burrata with tomato salad (daily special, 5.10 euro). Very good! Could use some salt 5) jamon, lettuce and mayo on toast - meh, don't recommend this one. 6) monkfish and prawn grilled skewer - delicious!! Their grilled prawn was perfection. 7) flan - good but nothing exceptional, most flan tastes the same read more

Incredible! The wait takes forrreeevveerrr but it's worth it. After you check in with the hostess go outside to the "secret" side bar and she will serve you drinks there rather than trying to battle the massive crowd inside. We ordered the beef fillets on toast (aaahhh so good!), croquettes (decent but not as good as tapas 24), a slider for the hubby (he says amazing), the camembert lollipops (ORDER IT- DO IT), and I had goat cheese and eggplant with toast and that was also noms. House wine was amazing and service was nice too, they are very busy but i didn't feel pressured/ rushed. read more

A friend recommended that I hit this place up, so stopped by for tapas last week. Word up - VERY crowded...VERY....during "rush hour". Got there at 7pm (early by Barcelona standards, mind you...REALLY early), line was long. Got the to the top of the queue, put in my name for a table, was told "10 minutes". One hour later, asked again, was told "you'll be up in 10 minutes". 8:30ish, got a table. The wait, unfortunately, wasn't really worth it. The tapas were the same as every other tapas bar in Barcelona. CERTAINLY wasn't worth the wait. CERTAINLY wasn't worth dealing with the huge crowd of non-locals. Methinks this is the equivalent of Sam's Chowder House in HMB - locals know that it SUCKS, but tourists rave about it...'cause they think it's where locals eat. SO not worth it. Hit up one of the other 10 gazillion tapas bars in Barcelona. Don't bother with this one. read more

One of my favorite places for tapas! This meal is good, inexpensive and a great environment. Amazing amazing food. I was in Barcelona for about three days and came here three times! The wait the first time around was about half and hour but I was willing to wait since my sister highly recommended it. We had an amazing server who was very accommodating to out requests. My friend and I ordered the assortment plate of tapas but substituted one plate for patatas bravas since my sister highly recommended that particular dish for me also. We had fried shishito peppers, fried prawns, razor clams, patatas bravas, huevos cabreados, a fried small fish dish, and a mini slider. The fried prawns were by far my favorite. They were so juicy and flavorful and I still dream about them. The clams exceeded all my expectations and were also just extremely flavorful-- more flavorful than I couldve ever imagined a clam to be. The fried fish was my least favorite and I only ate about 2/10 pieces. The bravas and cabreados was really good but I thought the potatoes in the bravas could be fried more and I think I could've found better huevos cabreados elsewhere. Lastly, the slider was way too small for its price. Overall, I would definitely recommend Ciudad. They had some of the best tapas in all of Barcelona and I'm so glad it was within walking distance of my Las Ramblas hotel. Definitely pay this place a visit if you want quality and delicious tapas! read more

Hands-down ... Best dinner in Barcelona both for seafood freshness, taste and service. We came two nights and requested the same waiter: Epi from the Phillipine. He is the best waiter ever ... ! This place focused on Tapas and rightly so, their tapas is excellent. My wife and my parents love them as well... Their Shangria drink is the best ... Perfect mix ! We ordered a number of tapas but two night in a row, we ordered tapa combination covered prawn, clams, peppers, croquette and garlic bread with tomato... it was all yummy. We also tried razor clams tapa and baby squid, which are both excellent. Then fried potato type (not similar like US French fries), which is also perfect. Their beef tenderloin and peeled shrimp are delicious as well. The tenderloin is cooked medium rare, made it tender ! Epi helped us to order that made our experience excellent.., thank you Epi ! read more

We were a bit skeptical bc there were some mixed reviews, but thankfully we were very pleased with our meal. This place is definitely worth a visit. As other have mentioned, the lines move fairly quickly so don't let the lines turn you away. We went as just a party of two, which helped us get seated quicker as well. We got an English menu, but they don't really highlight the daily specials on there, so make sure to ask about them because there are some good eats on there as well! Between my husband and I, we shared our dishes. The bravas potatoes were very good, with a crisp outside and soft hot inside, with a lot of aioli mayo on top and another red dipping sauce that was the best part. The croquette was ok but nothing great, as were the mushrooms and asparagus. But our favorite was the seafood! Grilled cuttlefish was perfectly lightly seasoned with a butter sauce and lemon. We also got a daily special of octopus, the "tapita de pulpo" with perfectly done octopus seasoned with paprika. Great! We topped it off with dessert with chocolate cake and their version of creme brûlée - these were good but not the best I've had. Service was pretty good - don't expect top notch or anything, but our waiter was perfectly fine and spoke English well. Overall was a highlight in our trip! read more

Located in Las Ramblas, my wife and I wanted to try this place out and it didn't disappoint. We ate here during lunch time and the place was poppin'. You can either grab a table and order via waiter or you can grab a seat at the bar and eat there. Their service was excellent and the tapas was delicious! I suggest trying the Spanish omelette tapas. I came here this past September with a friend when we were on vacation in Barcelona. This place is very popular amongst tourists, so it was very crowded-- we arrived relatively early around 8pm on a Tuesday and had around a 40 minute wait. We started off with a pitcher of the red sangria. It was a little sweet (although that's to your own preference), but very affordable (only around 15 euros for a pitcher) and strong enough to give us a sufficient buzz for the night. For our meal, my friend and I split the pork loin flauta, the small squid, and the patatas bravas. The patatas bravas were hot and crispy that was nicely complemented with a cool aioli sauce. The squid and pork loin sandwich were also delicious, though not particularly spectacular. What stole the night for us, however, was the lobster paella that they served (perhaps a Tuesday special). Midway through our meal, our server approached us and offered us some lobster paella from the fresh batch they had just made. Despite being already full, we accepted the offer, which was possibly the best decision we made our whole trip because the lobster paella was to die for. Perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked lobster... even though I was there 5 months ago, I still fantasize about that lobster paella, and no paella has stood up to that one since. Will definitely come back if (when) I am in Barcelona again. read more

Went there twice, both times it was extremely busy! So get there early if you don't like waiting. We got there at around 5pm and it was packed - we had to wait 15 minutes but we snuck a bit as well :) Had the grilled pork loin with cheese and bacon sandwich. It was excellent, the meat was very tender and melted in my mouth. Also had a cafe latte which was cheap and good (like elsewhere in barcelona). My significant other took prawns with parmesan cheese and they were sublime she said. It is very noisy so if you want to work - don't go. The staff is nice and service is quick - they need to turn tables around quickly you know! Very good experience, this is a definite place for breakfast or lunch if you are visiting! read more
