I searched for good restaurants to go when in Barcelona. This one is on the top of my list. So we had to try it when my husband and I were in Barcelona last month. It was walking distance from our hotel maybe a 10 to 15 minutes walk. I had already mentioned to my husband that surely there will be a wait. And sure enough when we get there at around maybe almost 7ish there was a crowd. But that didn't discourage us. So we went in and made our way to the hostess and added our name. She said around 40 minutes wait. We said ok that's fine. The wait seemed likod forever though because we were so excited to try their food. And seeing all the different dishes that came out we were salivating. LOL! To top it all off there was a couple that was at a table and was just drinking and didn't order any food finally left. They gave us that table and we were able to order our food. They way their menu works is they have regular tapa items and they also have items they serve daily and a time is indicated next to it. So if you are lucky to catch those specials of the day that'll be awesome for your dining experience. Cris our server was really nice she guided us with our orders and told us not to order too much items all at once because it could be to much already. We can just add more if we feel like we still need more tapas. We ordered quite a few items. We got lucky with the suckling pig because we got the last order of the night. It was so delicious, tender, juicy and the skin was so light and crispy. Overall, everything was really delicious and very tasty plus good customer service. Our experience was amazing we ended up going back the next day for an early dinner and this time my sister, her husband and the rest of our friends joined us. They all had a great time. I will go back when I'm in Barcelona again. Hopefully soon. read more

Dined here for Lunch twice while we were in town because it was near our hotel. Lots of tourist dining with a few locals here and there. Service is prompt and to the point. Food came out quickly, perfectly cooked and well-seasoned. Prices on par with the area. Large menu to choose from. Some outdoor seating available with an upscale atmosphere available inside. Place is packed morning, noon, and night. Not a restaurant I would go out of my way to dine at but decent food for a touristy town. read more

Believe the hype!!!!! When looking for recommendations in Barcelona, I didn't come across too many, many friends said that everything was good, and though "Ciudad Condal" came up a few times in my website research, I thought it couldn't be significantly better, but I'm sooooo glad we ended up here. It was our last meal and Barcelona, and it was such a great way to end our trip. I didn't make it a point to go out of my way for this, but it's definitely worth doing so. It's near Placa Catalunya anyways. I was afraid we wouldn't get a table but there were two open spots at the bar, which we were lucky to have because the two parties to the right and to the left of us made do without a seat for every bottom and some remained standing. Our waitress was sooooooo nice and so helpful. Sitting at the bar was great because we could see a lot of things on display, or other customers eating, and I could just point to things. We were hungry and excited, my hands got dirty so I wasn't able to take pictures of everything, so I can't keep track of everything. Also, being that I pointed to a lot, I'm not sure exactly what I ate, but it was so good. We really didn't hold back much and kept ordering, our waitress was even shocked by how much we could eat. We did end up order "long clams" she called them. We didn't like them, so she told us we wouldn't pay for it, great service! The shrimp was sooo flavorful, I ate the "brains" which I usually don't. I wish I had come here earlier in my trip so that I could have returned within the trip!! The prices are really reasonable too for the quality and variety of food offered. read more

First dinner upon arrival in Barcelona and this Tapas place didn't disappoint! Arrived at around 8 on a Wednesday night and waited for 20 minutes before getting seated. We were hungry so tried a lot of dishes recommended by fellow Yelpers. Our favorites include the grilled prawns (very fresh), razor clams, beef tenderloin sandwich (this is must try - crispy bread and beef is super juicy), camembert (blew my mind as I never had that before), asparagus and mushroom(simple but again ingredients very fresh). For dessert we had the Santiago almond cake, which was accompanied by a shot of red wine. Also tried the potato cuava, white anchovies with vinegar, as well as the catalonian style creme Brulee. All are very tasty as well but not as extraordinary as the ones I mentioned earlier. Staff were friendly and dishes were prepared FAST. This was down the street from our hotel. (Cotton House) We had seen how busy this was so we decided to try it out... OMG it was amazing! This is a must try! Sit at the bar if poasible. The Sangria is perfectly marinated in red wine and fresh fruit, unlike some of the Sangria we get in the US that taste like fruit juice... the half is a full 6 glasses. The food fresh, tasty and a larger Tapas serving size. We had Jack Knife Clams, prawns bagett,, steak bagett sandwich, (ridiculously delicious), mushrooms /asparagus, fried artichoke, fillet on bagett, and cuddle fish (wow)! All of our choices we perfect. We ate on a Sunday @11:00pm and it was busy, so I suggest to make reservations or be prepared to wait an hour. They close at 1:30am so get here an order anything and you will be pleased. Great friendly staff that speak English and fast service. Enjoy and pass it on. One of my favorite places for tapas! This meal is good, inexpensive and a great environment. Each time I order my favorites (the codfish, pan con tomate, bravas, croquettes, beef tenderloin with Foie), but always ask the waiter for suggestions. This place is busy. On a Sunday night at 6pm it was packed and we were lucky to get a table. Lots of tapas to choose from. Staff are crazy busy and sometimes difficult to flag down. This place is owned by the same restaurant group that owns Vinitus, La Flauta and Cerverceria Catalana. I accidentally went to 3 of their 4 restaurants in a span of 3 days, and didn't realize it until the last day when I realized the menu items looked similar and I asked the waiter. Out of their restaurants, this one is more expensive than the others and in a more touristy locations right in Plaza Catalunya. I guess rent is higher in the more touristy locations, so you pay for it in increased prices on the menu. To be honest, this was my least favorite of the bunch that I went to, but I was also dining solo here so I didn't get to try as many dishes as the other places (where I ate with someone else). I ate a light lunch here so I didn't order a ton of things, but most of what was on the menu I had tried over the last few days at the other restaurants. I did notice that the prices were definitely higher here for the same exact dishes. The same dessert I had gotten at Cerverceria Catalan was 2€ more here. - Croqueta - Pretty standard croqueta that you'll find at almost any other place in Barcelona. Nothing to write home about - you can get it if you're craving croquetas, but I'd save your stomach for other things on the menu. - Grilled Mini Octopus - These were mini grilled octopus with the tentacles, etc. so if you're squeamish about that, then stay away. These were fresh and delicious, and I'd definitely recommend this if you like grilled seafood. - Tortilla Espanola with Artichoke - This was just okay - it came with 2 small pieces of pan con tomate but the tortilla didn't taste super fresh to me. I've had better. Order more of what is on the tapas del dia since that will be the freshest and most interesting. Also, as with most tapas places, come with a group of 2-6 people (or more) so that you can try a variety of things. This place can get crowded and have a long wait, but the space is actually pretty big with an upstairs section and it has space for larger groups of 6-8 people. Overall, a decent place to eat tapas if you don't want to venture far from Plaza Catalunya, but you're going to pay more for the same food you can get at one of their other sister restaurants. This was the least favorite of mine out of the 3 restaurants from their group, but maybe it was because I was dining solo. Regardless, the prices are inflated here for the same food, so save yourself some euros and go to one of their other more affordable sister restaurants. Vinitus is my favorite of the bunch. read more

One of my favorite places in Spain. But I'm almost positive the name has changed. It is always packed, especially Thursday-Saturday. The bar area is always busy. But the food is amazing. The servers, especially Dani, are awesome. The pros, the bar area is lively and fun. The food comes out fast and fresh. The cons, sangria is not served by the glass (the could be a pro or a con, depending on how you look at it, lol). The bar is set right in front of the door, so on cool nights that sucks. The bar is always crazy and people are standing on top of you while you are trying to eat. It is perfectly located in the city. And has outdoor seating for when it is nice. read more

This is a really great tapas place and quite affordable as well. If you're up for a fancier dinner, this is a good option. We walked in with a group of 9 and luckily they were able to seat us but service was a bit slow at first. Eventually, our server came over and was very nice and patient. We ordered a bunch of different items plus sangria. The sangria was absolutely delicious! The cod with honey, the grilled shrimp, and the Iberian ham was amazing. Really glad I made it to Cuitat Comtal! We arrived and the place was packed. It appeared to have a line, but it wasn't so don't get stuck there. I made my way to the front and put my name on the wait list. I figured we would grab a drink at the bar, and hope for the best. I was surprised that I barely had time to pay for my first drink and had my name called. Once going in, I could see how big the dining area was. So bottom line, don't be intimidated by the crowd. We ordered several tapas including steak foie, shrimp, muscles, croquets, Russian salad, crispy chicken and desert. Everything was cooked perfectly and amazing. Non-tourist trap in a tourist-y area. Don't be fooled (like I initially was) by the high foot traffic and 1000+ reviews on yelp for a restaurant in BCN. The food is solid! We got the grilled cuttlefish, pulpo Galicia, chicken croquettes and shrimp+mushroom Montadito. The croquettes were the best I've had during my barcelona journey this far and the rest of the food is on par w/ other great tapas restaurants. Not sure why the reviews for this place are so high. Our family came here per the recommendation of some friends who had eaten here on a business trip (they were actually with us). Maybe we ordered the wrong things but the food was just uninspiring and kinda boring. We had tapas at smaller restaurants in the area and I enjoyed them way more. I guess you could say this is a "high-end" tapas place with white cloths tables and all but I'd prefer something more low key. We also got a pitcher of sangria which was average. I'd say skip, or find someone who knows what to order. Otherwise, you'll just find yourself over paying for some mediocre tapas. read more

Mixed feelings. I think I made some dubious choices when ordering. Montadito (piece of bread) with Iberian ham was delicious. So was the chicken and ham croquette. The grilled cuttlefish was just not grilled enough for me - no crisp whatsoever. The oil it was in was really good though. The fried baby fishes were also pretty basic. Located in Las Ramblas, my wife and I wanted to try this place out and it didn't disappoint. We ate here during lunch time and the place was poppin'. You can either grab a table and order via waiter or you can grab a seat at the bar and eat there. Their service was excellent and the tapas was delicious! I suggest trying the Spanish omelette tapas. Tried the green peppers, patatas bravas, Spanish omelet and pan con tomate. Each are simple yet very tasty! My faves were the peppers and bravas. The peppers are cooked til soft with just amount of salt and some pieces had a bit of spiciness. This isn't typically a choice I would pick but glad I did because it took me by surprise. The bravas have a crisp outside and soft inside, cooked just right! Why isn't this made back home? The omelet was based on the recommendation of the waiter but it was just ok, a little too bland for me. The bread with tomato was also surprising. It had a good crunch with a bit of olive oil and tomato. Simplicity. And simply delicious. read more
