Great service and atmosphere! My family and I love to walk to this restaurant. It is decorated well enough to feel like a slightly fancy restaurant but still overwhelmingly feels homey and familiar. I always get a shredded beef taco and cheese enchilada for ten bucks. Decent Mexican food among friendly staff. Large, family owned Mexican restaurant that is better than the 3 star average Yelpers haven't given it. They have an outdoor patio and an inside, covered one (where we sat). Large food menu -- but strange that they don't have a drink menu. No prices or selection for any of the beers, mixed drinks, margaritas, etc. Waiter said to ask and he'd tell us what they have and the prices -- but that seems silly when we could've just read it for ourselves. The g/f ordered a Paloma that wasn't very good and had spices all over the rim (again, if we had seen a drink menu, we wouldn't have had to return it). Wasn't better the 2nd time around either. However, the food we ordered was very good. Shrimp Fajitas were plentiful with lots of onions and peppers and the spinach enchilada was also tasty. Free chips and salsa were decent. Yummy! The food: I was very impressed with my food this visit! I came for an event which was served with a taco bar. The food was GREAT! It came with with hard and soft shell tacos. The meat included shredded beef, shredded pork, and chicken. The shredded pork was delicious!! The rice and beans were impressive too. They had other yummy toppings and salsa as well. I love their guacamole because they prepare it in front of you at your table! The margaritas here are FANTASTIC too. I had two and I definitely got a good buzz going. Ciscos Mexican Restaurant is about as Mexican as you are going to get this side of Thousand Oaks Blvd. and that's not saying much. For what it's worth, You really shouldn't expect super authentic Mexican food in 1000 Oaks and hey, after a few margaritas, does it really matter anyway?? This location is tucked in the corner of the Oakbrook Plaza directly across from Gelsons. It's been here for several years and it even outlasted it's sister location in Westlake Village. We've eaten here on quite a few occasions and the food is always consistent of what you would expect for this type of Mexican Restaurant. Tacos, burritos, enchiladas, nachos, quesadillas and a few regional specialities are the basics and are all served with the traditional rice and beans as sides. Your best value is picking their 1, 2, or 3 item combos or from their a la carte menu if you just want a light snack. Table side guacamole is always fun to order, but If not, their complimentary chips and salsa will satisfy you just fine. The bar at this place is always hoppin, happy hour seems to always bring the locals in. Sadly, during our last visit we really noticed a hike in pricing, seems like everything has gone up for the same mediocre food. In all honesty, this location could really use a renovation. It's dated and a bit run down and could really use a facelift. I hope in the future they can revamp this place, I really don't think the city of Thousand Oaks can afford to lose another restaurant/business as we have seen so many recently close. My review is solely based off the happy hour. I came with my sister for happy hour and was pretty packed. Decent bar ambiance. We ordered two appetizers with Margaritas. The Cisco Margaritas were super sugary- couldn't really have more than one. Now let's get to the food: -Taquitos ($10, $6 during HH) very doughy! I had one and didn't want any more. My sister had a similar opinion. -Street Tacos ($10, $6 during HH) they were okay. Kind of bland in my opinion but much better than the taquitos. Decent amount of meat. Not enough flavor. Some people give Cisco's a "just average rating," however we hosted a wedding rehearsal dinner for a group of about 20 people and were pleasantly surprised. The staff went above and beyond to be accommodating. Margaritas were delicious and the food was good. They seated us in a manner where we had privacy and everyone could talk amongst themselves. All of the gust agreed that it was a wonderful dinner. Thank you to the wonderful staff for making it such a great night for everyone. Highly recommended for a larger gathering. read more

I've been here a handful of times over the years, and I'm unfortunately, still not impressed. It's mainly the food that gives me an over all "meh" experience. Let me begin: The guacamole has no lime whatsoever, which in my opinion is a big component of what makes it good. It just tasted like mashed up avocados. The Michelada is nothing special, just tastes like beer and tomato juice that I could make at home (other places add more flavors). I got the enchilidas rancheras plate with beef. It was okay. The enchilida sauce lacks flavor, and I feel like they overcompensate with adding so much cheese. The texture of the shredded beef was good but the over all taste was bitter??? Burnt??? Beans and rice were fine, along with the salsa For service, it was ok. The waiters and waitresses were dry, you could tell they did not want to be there (or maybe I was annoying them, who knows, but that was the vibe I got). The bus boys were very nice and polite. I will say that they do have good specials, they have a twilight special where select items are half off with a purchase of a drink. I love me some Cisco's Happy hour! Really good snacks, delicious Cadillac margaritas, good service but the holy grail of chips and salsa! The chips are always thin and light, super hot and the perfect sprinkle of salt. My husband likes the house salsa which is super delicious, but I really LOVE the habanero salsa for an extra spicy kick, you gotta ask for it, it's locked in a vault in the backroom. We usually enjoy the potato skins, fiesta platter, flautas, wings or the mini tostadas with carnitas on top. Sadly, they've taken the mini tostadas off the happy hour menu, but all of their food is wonderful. We don't come here enough. It's very welcoming and service is always good. read more

Service was great and food was okay. The reason for the lower rating is because we were seated in the back room, which was fine; however, there was an obnoxious group seated there with parents sitting at one table and about eight young kids seated at two tables by themselves. Many of these kids looked like they were under 5. They were yelling and screaming and their crayons and jackets were all over the floor. The waiters literally walked over their junk on the floor in order to get to the kitchen. Meanwhile, their parents are not tending to their kids and instead are yelling at them for yelling! I'm talking kids screaming at the top of their lungs and those parents are still sitting on their butts at the other table. Our kind waiter acknowledged that this was a disruptive group and even apologized to us. But not one of the staff or management approached this group to tell them to settle down because they're in a restaurant and disturbing other patrons. Because of the lack of professional behavior by the staff of this restaurant, we will not be back. It was not a pleasant night out! read more

Great food and wonderful service! We stopped by Cisco for lunch yesterday and overall we really enjoyed our lunch there. This restaurant is located in Oakbrook plaza and parking is ample in the strip mall. I ordered the shrimp fajita for $17.95 and it came on a sizzling hot plate with mixed vegetables and generous portion of shrimp. It also came with side of rice, guacamole and flour tortillas. The food was delicious and the serving portion was large enough for more than one meal. As for the service, the wait staff were all very friendly and helpful. Our entire experience was worth 5/5 stars! First and foremost, the service was incredible. We were checked on, our chips and salsa were never low, and our drinks were always full. Julio was awesome and made an amazing table side guacamole. The food was delicious! We all loved everything we ordered and the portions were generous. This is also one of a handful So Cal restaurants that has an outdoor bar in front of the restaurant that allows Smoking but no dogs. Not sure if they still do it but on your Birthday they bring out the Sombrero. At a old work party I informed them it was my bosses birthday. It wasn't of course. They brought out a huge hat and sang. Service has never been a contender here. We've been coming here for years and it's always the same. Tonight was extra slow. We were seated in a single server area with about 3 large parties that seemed to be finishing at the same time. Our table was a little neglected. It's nothing new. I think our server was little overwhelmed. The bus boy on the other hand was extra helpful and kept our tastey chips and salsa coming and refilled our drinks. Margaritas are winners. But there is no price on the menu. I guess you find out when the bill comes. Towards the end of our meal our server stepped up his game. Food is decent. Chicken Fajitas run about $17.00 and come piping hot on a cast iron skillet served with refried beans and tortillas. Burritos are large and in charge. Paired with rice and beans. Tostada salads come in a huge tostada shell. Fish tacos are on spot. Prices are pretty average. Watch for the $10 of $50 coupon that comes in the mail. Save yourself a buck. The only redeeming quality of this restaurant is they have the twilight special in the early afternoon/evening. The food on the menu is 1/2 price until 5:30pm. They have inflated prices so that makes it tolerable for the so so food they have. I would be really upset if I had to pay the regular prices for the quality of the food they serve. They should wake up and take notice of the other mexican food places around town and tighten up the quality if they want to stay in business. We didn't get more salsa or chips that we had asked for and then some young lady (hostess) brought our check, we sat there another 10 minutes waiting because they needed to adjust the receipt as they were charging the incorrect dish, finally Andres shows up, we tell him he needs to fix the amount and is gone again.
