*Crickets* There's no one here...I'm scurred. I wanna run...But a group of 12 of mi amigos made plans to get together and have some drinks and food. My Fitness Pal told me I had 400 calories left...but I told it to shove it! We got 5 pitchers of margaritas, I just had bites of appetizers because I didn't want to enter it into the food journal. All of them were deep fried and covered in sauces and cheese. The drinks were fine, the food was not the greatest. But the drinks assuaged the situation. I didn't enter anything into my food log... First time here. We had a large party and they provided great service. They made fresh guacamole table side. I had the tampiquena and my meat was cooked perfectly medium the way I ordered it. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. Other people at my table had fajitas that looked and smelled great! I had a mango margarita and it was good. The place is huge and cute. We sat in the back patio and the heaters kept us warm. Overall I really enjoyed it. read more

Last night's visit almost earned five stars. We had a gift certificate from two years ago burning a hole in our pockets. LOL. Finally decided to use it. Seated promptly. Drink order taken quickly. We were asked for our food order in short time frame, too. I had a question about the menu, but our server was in a bit of a hurry, so he just wrote down the first item I mentioned and didn't answer the question. Not a big deal. We observed every staff member hustling around the restaurant. They don't amble - they move! When the food arrived, I was so impressed with the tilapia on Dear Hubby's platter of Fajitas Mariscos. It was a beautiful piece of fish, so well-prepared ~ moist and grilled to the point of perfection. But wait, there's more! I took a bite. And then another. Had to restrain myself from abandoning my dish in favor of that amazing fish! It was the best tasting tilapia I've ever had. Ever. My own Enchiladas Del Mar were quite yummy. But the lure of the tilapia. . .so strong! We had plenty of food, and each took more than half of our entrees home. Made for great lunch leftovers today. On future visits, we could readily split an entree, since they ply you with chips and salsa to start. My virgin mango margarita was also quite tasty and a plentiful portion. The reasons for 4.5 stars instead of 5 were the bland interpretations of black beans and Spanish rice. Each were lacking in flavor. Also, the service, which was snappy at the beginning of the meal, tended to taper off as it progressed. Took quite some time for the waiter to check on us after the meal was served. I could tell he had a lot of tables to handle, and they were getting busy by the time our food came out. Okay, that's that last of the reviews for tonight. I've emptied my purse of receipts from the past six weeks or so and caught up on places we've visited and (mostly) enjoyed. read more

I recently went to Ciscos for Cinco de Mayo festivities! My sexy yet casual Ema dress from Analina Rose Boutique was the perfect piece for the festivities! All around there was live music, whether it be from a live band or mariachis! Ofcourse this was for that day, but what a treat it was! The service at ciscos has always remained wonderful! The hostesses, servers, bussers and chefs are always so sweet and attentive! The food was delicious! Having gone to this restaurant religiously for the last 10 years, I have to say that they truly have come a long way. Everything was served incredibly fast (even with a full restaurant and people piling in non stop.) i started with the table side guacamole. Not many restaurants offer this, so I always make sure to participate when it is available! The guac was seasoned perfectly! The chips and salsa were so fresh and were the perfect companion to the guacamole. My favorite, the tequila like chicken salad was even better than I remembered it! They offer so much fresh chicken that I had a whole extra meal to take home! It was fantastic! That chicken is seasoned so well that it makes your mouth water. The cabo taco platter was also amazing to try! Each taco was completely different yet so delicious! Plus, THEY HAND MAKE THEIR TORTILLAS FRESH! You can even watch one of their sweet tortilla makers do so! Ciscos also creates delicious margaritas! They are always poured well and taste delicious! They offer a large assortment of different beers to choose from to enjoy with your meal. I love how the beers on tap are ALWAYS crisp and delicious! I have been going to this place for many years, celebrated weddings and reunions here with my friends. Also have held our staff meetings here for drinks and dinner for our entire staff. But after today I will not go back. My business partner and I went today for a quick business meeting and paid $60 for two margaritas during happy hour. $28 per drink. Absolutely insane as an extra shot costs the same as an entire other drink. Mind you it was during happy hour! Also took over 30 minutes to get our drinks, which came out wrong and had to be remade. Just a shame. I try to support other local small businesses but this one is now off the list for any future staff meetings or quick local meet ups. read more

I am giving this review solely based off of our server Mia. I was there with my family and it was super busy but no matter what the chaos Mia was very sweet, friendly, and funny!! Has always been my go to for happy hour in Thousand Oaks. Despite having the loudest happy hour bar in town it was worth it. But now being given happy hour prices on food requires the purchase of a drink too. I really want to give Cisco's a 5 star review, but I just don't feel like it would be fit. I went on Cinco De Mayo, and they were not to busy when we first got there. We were waiting outside in the takeout line, called like 15 times to put in order in and couldn't reach anybody when finally the kind lady behind us called for us and they picked up and we placed our order. By the time we finally got inside (~20 minutes later) and we went to pay, we were told that they couldn't find our order ticket in the kitchen, so they took our order again and said it should be out soon. Instead of placing us to the front of the kitchen ticket line because we had been waiting for so long, we had to wait another 40 minutes for our food to get done. It came time to pay, and we did get 20% off already (the special of the day), but I feel that in order to make customers happy (we had waited about 46 minutes total at this point) they should have either given us some extra food, or a little of the tab to make it right. The food was amazing, honestly, but some tacos that we ordered just didn't have enough meat in them, see attached. The staff were very friendly, and they were definitely busier at this point, but it's those times where mistakes happen that you do what you can do make it right and do a little extra. read more

The portion that is small is the sour cream and guac dip, so I suggest getting an extra side order but I don't know how much that is about to cost me. Very delicious. Been here multiple times but never offered up a review. Figured now is a good time!! First off, for you Happy Hour folks, they have SUPER Happy Hour which starts earlier in the afternoon, and they offer some great pricing on drinks, then it rolls into "regular" Happy Hour. The service is good, get there early to get a seat, bar fills up!! Does anyone even work in TO?? Probably not, just enjoying the good life. On this particular visit we were celebrating a high school graduation party. Again, the staff did a great job and was very accommodating for our large group , 30 people. Menu items are what you would expect from Mexican restaurant, traditional fare; food is good and priced for value. Recommend this location anytime, either for Happy Hour with friends, or to catch a sporting event (plenty of TV's posted up in the bar as well). We have been going to Cisco's for the past 2 years every week with another couple. We started going because it was perfectly situated between our two houses. We kept going because the staff was SO friendly and fun!!! Mia is the BEST!!! So funny and remembers our orders so she pretty much has them in as soon as she sees us walk in. The food is pretty good, but we really went for the atmosphere, company, and service! In the last couple of months, it has gone down hill.. Hawaiian shirts??? It's a Mexican food restaurant! And our favorite servers are no longer being scheduled when we go. We even switched our regular night of the week to accommodate our favorite server, but she ended up not being there. Julio who makes the table side guacamole is awesome! Perfect every time. But,I have to say, it seems like there are less and less female servers. Now, when we go, it's always someone new and the vibe is very different. We are looking to find a new weekly place because when you spend money consistently at a place every week, you want it to feel like Cheers! And it's started out that way... but that feeling has gone. Worst service ever experienced. Was seated on the patio where we waited, and waited. Finally the female bartender came out with the most awful attitude. She was so unpleasant my family got up and walked out. Thankfully there are other locations where service still matters and I will happily take our business down the road. What a wonderful experience. Three of us were having a dinner meeting. We were there for almost 3 hours. The waiter came to our table at very appropriate times and didn't constantly interrupt us but looked and was checking on us without disturbing us. How refreshing!! I would've given another star for the food and drinks, but their menu is misleading and the staff wants to argue instead of honoring what their menu says. We went there for happy hour. HH menu says that Cisco's Margaritas are $5.75. There is no description, exception noted or extra cost showing. When you flip 2-3 pages, the description under Cisco's Margarita includes choice of blended or on the rocks with your choice of flavor. We ordered 5 of them, raspberry and strawberry. When we got the bill they charged us $7 for each one. When we questioned it we were told the extra charge was for the fruit flavoring. Long story short, they argued (manager included) with me about it. I was told the HH menu was a separate menu from the regular menu (but both pages are connected to the same stand). I'm attaching pics so you can come up with your own interpretation. Bottom line, if there are stipulations to any part of the menu, they should be stated and they were not. read more

We came here for my friend's birthday. We drove in from Northridge and I have to say that the food was very bland. I ordered the pork carnitas & it was so dry. It lacked flavor and the dryness did not help. The drinks were mediocre too. I've had great margaritas and it wasn't the case at this restaurant. My husband ordered the seafood enchilada. I tasted his food because I was disappointed in mine and his food was just okay. I expected more and wanted it to be better than a Mexican chain like Acapulco's. But it did not meet my expectations. The people that we came with were also disappointed. The fresh guacamole was also bland. It needed flavors and it felt like just an avocado that was prepped fresh table side. Nothing great. Service was good and probably the best part of the night. I think this restaurant really needs to revamp its menu and figure out how to make it's food more flavorful and authentic. It felt very Chaim like but I would have to say that a chain like Acapulco tasted even better. I wanted this to feel authentic but it did no meet my standards. No authenticity and a very bland tasting menu:-( And for the price we paid, I think I was better off at a restaurant chain. So disappointed! read more

I came here with a group of 8 on a Saturday afternoon. The place was fairly crowded, but the service was on point. My group LOVED the table guac, which is super fresh and made to order. You can get it as spicy as you like, and also get all the side goodies that you want; tomatoes, onions, cilantro, etc. They also make a tasty margarita. I enjoyed TWO Cadillac margaritas, which come with a shot of Grand Marnier on the side, which adds a nice kick when you mix it in. For my entree I enjoyed the shrimp fajita. Good size shrimp, around 8 I think mixed with an assortment of peppers and onions, and nice flour tortillas. The food presentation and taste was good! My biggest gripe about being on the patio was that we were getting cigarette smoke blowing through our area from the smoking patio up front. My daughters detest cigarettes so this put a damper on things, had it not been for that, our experience would have been 4 stars. read more

In the past we had great experiences (over 20 years) with Cisco's, up until tonight. Our server was great, but the kitchen lost our ticket and the food was delayed. We asked again about our order and asked for the manager, who failed to apologize, and blamed the server. He gets our order and when we told him there was an error, he tells us that we are wrong! Am I in a bizarro world or something? The manager is supposed to fix the situation and not argue or blame anyone. Just fix the problem! Sure enough, I just learned this was the GM. Been coming here for years and came in with some friends the other night to show them how great it was. Well the young tall hostess at the door was very rude didn't greet me , first thing she says is "dogs aren't allowed in the restaurant " I said we're going to sit outside. She said "there not allowed at all " I then told her I had a service dog. Very rudely she turned her back to me... I was then seated by another hostess with my party outside. The manager came out and basically told me they do not allow dogs at all anymore... I have a French bull dog not vicious at all . I'm a disabled Marine Corps veteran who was turned away from your establishment today. I was looking forward to a meal that didn't come from the food bank for once; instead, I was rudely told that despite all the other forms of military identification I had with me (uniforms, discharge paperwork, etc) "No ID, No Food." If you're going to offer a free meal for vets, it's poor veterans who you should give a damn about, unless this is all just tickertape patriotism that fades in the breeze. We are never disappointed when we go to Cisco's. The service and the food are always top notch. We are big fans of the tequila lime chicken, which is better than fajitas in our opinion. It's our go to meal. You also cannot go wrong with the made to order guac-we like ours with everything and medium spice. If you're looking for a seafood option, the enchiladas Del Mar are astounding. They're rich and delicious. Today we shifted from our regular Cadillac margaritas to the Paloma (pictured). It was perfect, light and refreshing. An excellent recommendation by the manager.
