I admit, Ciros is still great pizza. Moving away from this town I rarely get to have it. So a few days ago, I treated myself but I was so surprised of how expensive it got. Sure inflation is hitting everyone and food prices are increasing but $50 for one pie (half topping) 12 garlic knots and a pinwheel? At that price point, I could get almost 3 pies from my local joint. I think their high rating got to their head and I'm afraid I'm in no rush of returning. read more

But inside is very clean and decorated with tons of pizza paraphernalia (pizza-phernalia?) I ended up ordering a white slice to go. Pretty quick and friendly service and the pizza itself was amazing. Sturdy, almost buttery base and crust. With a plentiful amount of gooey and creamy cheese on top. A dusting of garlic powder on top and I was in heaven. We were in Long Island for the weekend and tried the two best reviewed NY-style slices in the area that we could find on Yelp - Ciro's and Paradise Pizza in Commack. Both were good, but Ciro's was the clear winner. The sauce was sweeter and not as bold, the cheese was gooier, and the crust was a tad thinner. It just tasted much better overall. I really, really enjoyed it. I am not a New Yorker and have not tried Di Fara or Famous Ray's or Scarr's but of the NY slices I've had, this one is the best. I can't imagine another place making better NY-style pizza, but some supposedly exist because I've never seen Ciro's on any "Best of NY" lists. I've been dreaming about this pizza since trying it and if I ever find myself in LI again, this will be my first stop off the plane. read more

I've been back a few times for take out and eat in, since my first review. Still the best on Long Island. I drive 12 miles just for this pizza because everything local is just bad! A buddy and I stopped in to get some grub to bring next door to Tap n Barrel after a long hike through Blydenburg. The pickins were slim so I grabbed a grandma and a plain slice for $5.50 The three slices of plain at about $2.75 a slice were quite large, the three together was an entire half a pie which means it was 1/3 larger than your normal pizza shop slice here on the island and I'd say 1/3 tastier too :) There was a bit of grease but it was crisp and tasty. Not my favorite and the crust wasn't amazing either but all in all a decent slice for sure. -Y'all are too bold to claim they are the best on the island- Again, when oil drops out, that's not at all a sign of "the right cheese." There is both high a low moisture mozz, there is greasy pizza and oily sauce, there is also amazing pizza that doesn't drench your plate in grease and visa versa. It's a great slice, and I'd order a ton more, but the best is just a stretch of all your doughy brains. Also, stop using the word Neapolitan in all your reviews and get educated. This is NOT anywhere near Neapolitan style pizza. It's yummy, it's not Neapolitan. read more

There really isn't much to say... Ciro's is seriously the best pizza on Long Island, and in my all-time top 5 for anywhere (which are all in NY, so don't try to convince me out-of-towners!) Perfect cheese, amazing sauce, dough that is cooked just right, not dry and just the right amount of greasy... simple perfection. Plain slice is delectable, add pepperoni for some pizazz, have extra cheese and roll your eyes in ecstasy at just how awesome it tastes. We drive out of our way to get pizza from Ciro's. Got a 'large' cheese pie, chicken roll, and a couple of extra slices - $48 !! About $10 more than similar places in the area. The first thing that hit me was how small the pie was (even the box was much smaller), and not any thicker than typical, so they are clearly cutting corners there. The chicken roll was the best item. Stopped by this place as I picked up a delivery. Saw a glimpse of the garlic knots in their foil-wrap and gave them a try. I was not disappointed! Medium sized, they truly look like knots, coated in that garlic mash that is the hallmark of a good, if not great knot. When baked up proper they have a great garlic flavor, with a crunchy, slightly biscuit-like medium-light chew. It's too bad I don't live locally, as I would stop in often for these knots alone. There are two steps to eating a GOOD pizza: 1. you pick up the slize and 2. you fold it and Ciro's Pizza needs 5-6 steps including using a fork and knife. Smh, such a waste of time and money! Old school in all the right ways. It's been operational since 1979, so obviously they're doing something right in a very competitive market. First, the staff. They were all middle-aged or older Italian American gentlemen who make the pizza right in front of you. They do so carefully & with both ease & grace. The guy at the cash register is like something out of a movie about a NY pizza place. Dressed in all white, white hair combed back & a heavy, heavy Italian/NY accent that asks, "whadda ya havin?" He even pronounced sausage as "saw-siege"...which was awesome. We got a pepperoni "pie," a meatball pie, & some garlic knots. All were great. The crust on the pizzas was perfect. Crispy outside & a slightly chewy inside. They use top notch ingredients and cheese & you can tell. The pepperoni was a little greasy, but guess what... pepperoni is greasy! If you can't handle that, order a different topping. This is not the best pizza ever, but it is way above average by NY standards which makes it the best pizza ever in about 95% of the country. That includes my home of Miami. I wish we had pizza like this place down there, but on the flip side, I'd probably weigh 300lbs if we did, so maybe for the best.
