I still remember my very first taco…read more It was 1971, just after I moved to East Gary, Indiana. I had made a couple of friends at school, and one day they took me to a small Mexican fast food place called Arman's. I had never had a taco before. I didn't even know what one was. They ordered for me. That first bite changed everything. It was spicy, full of flavor, and unlike anything I had ever tasted. I couldn't stop eating them. Back then, tacos were under fifty cents, so I went as often as I could afford. That taste stayed with me. Fast forward to a couple of years ago when I discovered A1A Burrito Works. I walked in, and to be honest, the decor didn't impress me. But I wasn't there for ambiance. I ordered two tacos to go and headed back to my car. That's where everything changed. I tried to eat while driving. That was a mistake. These tacos were massive, packed with meat, lettuce, and everything that comes with "The Works." I had to pull over just to properly enjoy them. And then it hit me. One bite took me straight back to 1971. After decades of eating tacos all over the place, these were the first ones that brought that feeling back. The same bold flavor. The same satisfaction. The same experience I never forgot. Since then, I don't go anywhere else for tacos. If you care about flashy interiors, this might not be your place. But if you care about real flavor, generous portions, and food that actually leaves an impression, this is it. For me, A1A Burrito Works isn't just another taco spot. It's a time machine.

I took half my burrito home and had it for lunch the next day and my wife made 3 meals from her burrito bowl. The guys working Sunday were very nice as well. We plan to return soon and order same thing.

When we received our order, we were missing one of the 12-count nuggets, and the mac and cheese didn't have the bacon crumbles we ordered. I completely understand that mistakes happen, and that's not why I'm upset. What bothered me was what happened when we went back to the drive-thru window. The employee at the window said, "Who gets bacon on their mac and cheese?" It came across as though he was mocking our order. Whether he thought we couldn't hear him or not, it was rude and unprofessional. After all, adding bacon is an option on the menu, so there was no reason to make a comment about our food choice. Unfortunately, I didn't catch the employee's name, but he appeared to be a very tall, brunet male who looked to be around 16/17 years old. After bringing the missing items to their attention, we did receive the missing nuggets. However, instead of the bacon crumbles we originally ordered, we were given bacon strips for the mac and cheese. While that wasn't a major issue, it added to this disappointing experience. I've always had great experiences at Chick-fil-A, which is why this interaction was so surprising and disappointing. I do want to mention that there was a man who appeared to be a manager who corrected another young employee while we were there, and I appreciated seeing that level of leadership. However, the employee who made the comment about our order was never corrected, at least not while we were present. Unfortunately, we left feeling disrespected, which is not something I've ever experienced at Chick-fil-A before. I hate leaving a negative review because Chick-fil-A has always been one of my favorite places to eat, and this is the first bad experience I've ever had. I'm sorry to leave a poor review over something that may seem as small as bacon crumbles, but it wasn't really about the bacon. It was about the way we were treated. I hope this feedback can be used as a coaching opportunity, because no customer should be mocked for ordering an item exactly as it's offered on the menu.
