We were always greeted with familiar smiling employees & register attendants and over the years we got to know a few by name. However Friday 1/15/2021 around 8 AM this all changed. . . On my way to work I needed fuel to reach my destination. Upon entering RaceTrac there was only one register open instead of the usual three or four. Like usual I waited in line for the resister to pre-pay and during my wait the nasty gal at the one register repeatedly screamed "Folks you know there are self checkout machines!" When I finally got to the register I commented how rude she is being to customers and asked if the self checkout machines replaced real employees and got the eye-roll. . . I then got a snippy reply "well, you do know the self checkouts machines are safer" I asked do you disinfect the touch screens between each customer? And again got the eye-roll. I explained that everyone touching the the screes without disinfecting between customers can spread germs. . . Clearly this annoyed young gal who demonstrated she does not want to do her job working the one and only register; instead decided to yell at customers to do her job at the machines! I asked her if all the nice people who worked here lost their jobs to the machines and got a predictable dumb look. Anyway we are too old to deal with this you-know-what and we will do business elsewhere -or- until the self checkout machines are removed and the nice happy smiling friendly employees are back at the registers. . .
