Widow Clicquot night with Ranch Acres
Debra K.

If you're not following Circle Cinema or on their mailing list, you need to be as soon as you are able. We went to an event last night that was just fab (and sold out). The movie: Widow Clicquot. The hosts: Circle Cinema (of course) and Ranch Acres. Event ticket holders were treated to two glasses of Veuve Clicquot champagne plus a lot of good conversation before the film. (Oh, and you got free popcorn, too.) This was an event for members and non-members alike. Really, if you've never been to this Tulsa gem, you must remedy that soon!

Film Noir night is so fun. Seats are comfy. Circle Cinema is just a cool theatre with a retro vibe.

Many years member of this Tulsa icon. Met Leon Russell here and more good movies than I can count.

Barbie photo op!

Circle cinema is a true Tulsa gem! They host the coolest events and show the best selection of movies. I luckily snagged tickets to the Barbie brunch, and it was awesome! Such a fun way to see the movie. It was worth the hype!

Disgusting and uncomfortable place. Will not be going back. The movies they show are demonizing and the seats stab your back.

i've been thinking about seeing a monday matinee at the theater for a while, and today, after…read morewalking by the posters at the front of the theater, i'd seen a couple movies that appeared interesting to me, so decided to go after getting money from home. i'd not decided on a movie or showtime before arriving at the theater, and the worker at the front ticket desk was polite and patient while i decided on a movie, with one of the movies for which i'd seen a poster, called 'the king of kings' being the movie i'd eventually get a ticket to see. having arrived with ample time to find the seat, i'd taken a few extra moments to decide on concessions. i'd seen a box of gluten-free chocolate chip cookies with the candy options, which looked appealing to me as a comparatively healthy movie theater sweet. however, having walked to the theater, i was a little hot and craving a icee freezie drink, and movie concession prices being what movie concession prices be, i'd had to put back the cookies to get the drink. nonetheless, the freezie was really satisfying, and maintained a balanced mixture of flavoring and slushed ice throughout the drinking experience, which infrequently happens with that beverage. lastly, although the cushioned seating influenced me to doze off for a significant portion of the middle of the movie, despite me not using the reclining feature, i still enjoyed the experience, and recommend the theater, along with the movie, 'the king of kings'.

I'm back & forth on the 3-star review because a lot of this plays part into the prices. I'm aware…read morethat things change. I'm aware of inflation. This just doesn't add up compared to the experience. 2 tickets along with one of the combos (the #1 in particular) came out to around $60. The movie was at 4:25pm when their matinee ends at 4pm... go figure & with those prices, I need the greatest of grade A sound coming out of the whole theater. With those prices, I don't want to see rips & tears in the seats. Here's one last thing that's wild to me the more & more I type about this... What's the point of creating an account (Stubs Insider) outside of being a guest & not having to log in when there aren't ANY kind of specials in place (or have points go towards my ticket purchases?! There's a paid service that comes as an option (Stubs Premiere) that gives you things like reward points to go towards stuff faster (for $17.99/month). On a more milder note, I did enjoy the movie Nosferatu.

The Outsiders is one of my favorite books and movies…read more I knew some of it was filmed on location in Tulsa, but I didn't think the house where Patrick Swayze famously performed a handstand out front was still there. It is - and so is the extra pole that was added to the fence after it buckled during the first take. The inside is quaint, semi recreated and jam packed with memorabilia from the film. I loved the bedroom that recreates the setting where Ponyboy read Johnny's letter, which inspired him to write his English essay. I also loved all the random movie posters, candid photos and movie costumes - especially the autograph wall. The volunteers - who are strategically stationed around the property are the best. They're happy to talk all things book, movie and Tulsa related. If you're nice - they'll tell you about Crutchfield Park, which is just down the street and where the Greaser / Soc rumble was filmed.

You can tell they genuinely enjoy what they do and they are eager to share stories and little-known facts about the history behind the movie and exhibits. Their passion really brings the place to life. While we were there we met some fans who had traveled from out of state just to visit. We also chatted with the photographer who was a neighborhood local at the time of the filming and happened to capture behind the scenes photographs on set. He now sells photographs onsite and had some fun stories to share. Parking is convenient with a small lot out back, but if that's full, there's usually plenty of street parking nearby. There is a great little gift shop to check out before you leave as well. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

I really wish I remembered the drink I had the first time around, what I do remember is that it was really good. The drink I had recently was the Don Diego de La Ve & it's something I'd get again + would be my usual. Anything tequila, it's automatic (rum is right there at a very close 2nd) when it comes to an alcohol beverage + cocktail. Has addition of ancho reyes, a chile liqueur, that's super subtle in the drink along with lemon lime & agave. My homie looked at my drink & said that's something he should've ordered. *Side Note* I took a look at the menu & I'm convinced I had the Cousin Eddie (when I first visited this place). As I stated that rum is a close 2nd to tequila & the Cousin Eddie has Bumbu (rum) that I already enjoy on its own.
