The AMC Southroads 20 is easily overlooked because of its age and proximity to a failed mall. The staff seems friendly and the theater clean if not the most modern. The atmosphere of this theater is calm and quiet. It's a good place for a weekday date night. The food is of course outrageously priced but aren't all movie theaters. i've been thinking about seeing a monday matinee at the theater for a while, and today, after walking by the posters at the front of the theater, i'd seen a couple movies that appeared interesting to me, so decided to go after getting money from home. i'd not decided on a movie or showtime before arriving at the theater, and the worker at the front ticket desk was polite and patient while i decided on a movie, with one of the movies for which i'd seen a poster, called 'the king of kings' being the movie i'd eventually get a ticket to see. having arrived with ample time to find the seat, i'd taken a few extra moments to decide on concessions. i'd seen a box of gluten-free chocolate chip cookies with the candy options, which looked appealing to me as a comparatively healthy movie theater sweet. however, having walked to the theater, i was a little hot and craving a icee freezie drink, and movie concession prices being what movie concession prices be, i'd had to put back the cookies to get the drink. nonetheless, the freezie was really satisfying, and maintained a balanced mixture of flavoring and slushed ice throughout the drinking experience, which infrequently happens with that beverage. lastly, although the cushioned seating influenced me to doze off for a significant portion of the middle of the movie, despite me not using the reclining feature, i still enjoyed the experience, and recommend the theater, along with the movie, 'the king of kings'. read more

I'm back & forth on the 3-star review because a lot of this plays part into the prices. I'm aware that things change. I'm aware of inflation. This just doesn't add up compared to the experience. 2 tickets along with one of the combos (the #1 in particular) came out to around $60. The movie was at 4:25pm when their matinee ends at 4pm... go figure & with those prices, I need the greatest of grade A sound coming out of the whole theater. With those prices, I don't want to see rips & tears in the seats. Here's one last thing that's wild to me the more & more I type about this... What's the point of creating an account (Stubs Insider) outside of being a guest & not having to log in when there aren't ANY kind of specials in place (or have points go towards my ticket purchases?! There's a paid service that comes as an option (Stubs Premiere) that gives you things like reward points to go towards stuff faster (for $17.99/month). On a more milder note, I did enjoy the movie Nosferatu. read more

Absolutely unacceptable service. The staff member, Surentity, was extremely rude and disrespectful to multiple customers in line. I carry a larger purse due to medical needs and must have extra supplies available in case of an emergency. She stopped my husband and me and told us it was not allowed. I calmly explained the medical necessity and even offered to have the bag searched, yet she responded by saying she would call security. She then rolled her eyes and made dismissive gestures toward other customers waiting behind us, which was incredibly humiliating. I should not be made to feel embarrassed or treated poorly because of a medical condition. AMC has never treated us this way before, and this experience was both disappointing and degrading. Due to the staff's unprofessional attitude and behavior, we will not be returning. read more

I always enjoy this theater. I pre-order tickets to ensure the best reclining seats. It's always neat and tidy when entering and the popcorn is fresh! I'll always complain about the price of concession since it's ridiculous but it doesn't take away from the theater experience. The workers are always chill and the bathrooms are clean. I've never had any issues and my seats are never dirty or anything. I'll continue to watch movies at this theater. read more

Date of visit: November 24, 2023 The theatre, like most other AMC theatres, is in desperate need of maintenance; the seats are in poor condition and the place just looks sad. It's a giant theater, too. I had high hopes for this theatre to be in better condition than the AMC we have back home, especially when I noticed during the ticket purchase process through their app that they had reclining seats, but the reality was much less rosy. Went to AMC today with The Son to see the new Indiana Jones movie. Chose AMC because it was the closest to home with reserved seating and recliners. Arrive early, got our tickets and that's when things went off the rails. They forced moviegoers into an irritating maze designed to herd cattle to the slaughter. A solid 20 feet seperated the head of that line to the actual snack bar where you placed your order. We strolled on up to wait in line and were immediately scolded and told we had to go back to the cattle chute and wait. This was not a COVID thing, because people were crammed into the holding pen far tighter than had they been left alone. I was close on the verge of arguing with the woman, and decided it was too hot and I'd be at the counter before the argument got good. Once we were at the counter, I did look around for the line nazi to see if I needed her permission to place my order, but I couldn't see her. Which leads to strike 2. The colossal rip off that is movie refreshments. Don't get me wrong. I knew I was gonna get screwed. It's a foregone conclusion. But AMC has elevated the screw to world class levels. A large drink (mostly ice) and MovieNachos (thier name, not mine) was over $16. Again, I expected the shaft... but the nachos were a bag of chips and a presealed plastic tub of barely lukewarm gelatinous 'cheese'. Not even the venerable Rico's variety. And it tasted nasty. So we get to our seats and holy summertime, it's about 80 degrees in the place. Literally. The overhead lights didn't go out until well into the trailers, and it was just hot and uncomfortable for the entire 3 hours we were there. After checking my phone, I realized we SHOULD HAVE GONE TO THE WARREN THEATER. Next time, because it'll be a cold day in hell before I set foot back in AMC. read more

Went out for Mothers Day. Still sticking pretty close to home; Covid lingering. So. . . There weren't many people there in total; perhaps 12 besides us in our theatre on movie's opening day. Obviously , no lines; even upon entry. Yes, our AMC advantage card has expired anyway. Still seems pretty sad. No need to pay extra to jump the line. Patrons still suck, even w/ so few. Used to be my favorite movie theater... I'm a paid Stubs member. I've even been in heated arguments with my husband about which theater is better, this one or Warren in Broken Arrow... we went so far as to visit both theaters in two days and let our son be the tie breaker. Unfortunately, it wasn't a good showing for amc... the ice machine was broken and the floors were sticky. I told myself it was just a bad day. I've been three times since and it's just worse and worse... and the ice machine is still broken months later! Stale popcorn, nasty bathrooms with no soap and trash everywhere, torn seats, walls looking in desperate need of touch up paint... And, now, it's got that Walmart smell... you know the smell. It's the smell of filth. Can't go back. Had to concede a lost battle. I hate losing. Update: I actually had to get up in the first ten min of the movie to go ask someone to turn the lights out... which they did turn off... 20 min later. Seriously. Made online reservations to see Oppenheimer in IMAX with my visiting sister and brother-in-law for 12:15 PM, July 25. I reserved a wheelchair accessible seat plus companion seat +2 more near the back (top) of the theater. When we arrived, we found the elevator was out-of-order. There was no mention of that online nor were the seats blocked off from ordering. Talked to the manager, who was apologetic and offered a refund and four free tickets for future movie. When asked why the seats were not blocked/blacked out, he said he could not do that (all he had to do was "reserve" those two accessible spots himself). We elected to see the movie with two staying down in FRONT in wheelchair accessible spaces at the IMAX screen and two up in the reserved back seats. Not a great experience! read more

AMC is a pretty good movie theater. I very rarely actually go out to the movies but when I do I'll usually come here. It's funny because I remember being a kid and having to wait 5-10, maybe more, minutes in line to buy tickets to your movie. Now that's just not a thing anymore because you can buy your tickets beforehand online. It's so much more convenient time-wise because you don't have to plan to get there too early, you can get there right at the time the movie starts and STILL see all the previews. It's also cool because when you buy the tickets online you get to choose your specific seat which also saves the need to try to get there early to scope out the good seats. I know this is standard practice now for pretty much all movie theaters so I'm glad AMC is on the bandwagon too. I feel like this AMC is kept fairly clean. Of course, when it comes to movie theaters there's probably always gonna be a bit of messiness with bits of people's popcorn in the lobby, but I'm sure they can only clean up after those messy people so fast... I felt like the theater itself was also clean. Another thing that's become standard are the reclining chairs, which AMC also has. They are very comfortable to begin with, but then getting to adjust how you sit in them makes it even better! read more

Nice theater. I stayed in downtown tulsa and it was a $10 lyft ride. Although the seats where not separated in 2's they were the huge reclining chairs. Very comfy. In fact i fell asleep. If you're going to charge $7 for a soda, you should at least say "Hello" or "What can I get you?" I think they need a few adults working at this AMC. I hadn't been to AMC 20 in a few years, so this was my first trip since the remodel. WOW! Good job AMC! I love the little addition of 'Air Blades' in the bathrooms in place of the older model hand dryers (really, some dryers are a waste of energy. You could blow on your hands and get them dry faster). The fancy new recliners are super comfy! However, note to people who think this is their living room....it's not. Please do not lay in the recliners like you are at home (example: with your feet where your head goes and your head where your feet go, on your stomach). Be mindful of people around you, and have your children do the same. Let's keep this place nice! All in all, I really like the new touches to this place. Of course the recliners took out a lot of seating, so our showing at 5:30 on a Friday was completely full. All of the non IMAX seats are assigned so you can either buy your tickets ahead of time, and pick which seats you really want, or take your chances at the box office and possibly be stuck in the front row on busy nights. You can buy tickets online through AMC's website, through the AMC app, or through Fandango. If you wait until you're there, they have box office people that can help you, or you can use the handy ticket kiosks outside. Join the Stubs program to earn rewards, and they waive the online purchase fee for all tickets! Plus you get free upgrades on your popcorn and drink purchases. Example: order a small, get upgraded to a medium or free. Medium for the small price = awesome deal! You can join online or at the box office. AMC Southroads could use some remodeling. Seats are somewhat worn, some emergency exit lights weren't lit. This theater doesn't sell or honor the AMC annual popcorn bucket. AMC is my favorite movie theater in town! It feels as though I've practically grown up here because this is also conveniently the closest movie theater to where I grew up but also where I live now. I like that it's big enough to get all the block busters, but not so big that it's overwhelming. The remodel several years back where they upgraded to the burgundy recliners that have an arm in between every two chairs that raises up to make like a love seat just might have changed my life (for the better obviously). When I go to a theater that does not have recliners, regardless of how great the sound quality or how fancy the screen is, I must say I'm utterly disappointed. The prices here are on par with everywhere else so I don't feel as though I have the right to complain, but I will say the prices have encouraged a diligent use of the Stubb's rewards program. You get lots of perks with the yearly membership like free upgrades on concessions and discounted tickets on Tuesday nights. If you aren't already a member, I'd highly recommend it if you ever come here. The concessions are much better than they used to be and are continually improving, but especially for the price the only thing I can say in good conscience is anything above average is maybe the popcorn. Candy and soda don't count because it's impossible to mess those up. The food has been nothing short of disappointing at best. Will be coming here for years to come I'm sure. read more

The theater that we were in for our movie was very dirty and the reclining seats that we were assigned did not work and the seats were covered with duck tape where there were worn and torn places! The movie had to be restarted 3 times towards the end because of the movie stopping! No employee came in to say they were fixing the delay.
