Four of us came in as a part of the Bar Nation Bar Crawl. Everything had gone great in our night up until this point. They had no lanes open so we got a table, ordered drinks and food. All good until we went to pay our tab. They had added multiple extras to it and were arguing about what we ordered. We had to have items removed before we could pay. We had only ordered a couple of drinks and one burger and fries so it shouldn't have been confusing. Then, while waiting for our ride, we decided to order another round and they refused to serve us! Sunday is THE DAY to go. $20/hr per lane, $3.50 shoes, not too busy. We met up with some family from out of town (we're from out of town too). There are a total of 6 lanes, each paired into a u-shaped booth. There are 2 extra lanes in a private room. The food options were lacking. I failed and didn't get a picture, but the basic menu is hamburgers, hotdogs or fries. They have a few more things so I'm not being fair, but I had seen veggies and hummus online and that was not an option when I got there. The food was *fine* and the fries were good. We also got a queso skillet which was tasty (even dipped fries in there). Genesis was the best. I called and spoke to her a couple of times and both times she was helpful and friendly. When we arrived she checked us in, got our shoes, then later took our orders for lunch and took our family photo. I made my first trip in here in January 2020 and I regret having not stopped in sooner! This is small for a bowling center but the cool factor delivers in a BIG way! If this is your first time in a couple highlights here: 1. they have only six lanes for open bowling. Make plans accordingly. 2. They offer a private bowling room with 2 additional lanes that can be rented out by the hour. 3. Full service bar - the drink offerings are amazing and have some great local craft beer on tap. 4. Food - some pretty delicious food offerings are available and what I sampled was surprisingly delicious! From when you walk in the front door and in to the back of the house your welcomes in this classsic old school bowling alley vibe. It has modern equipment and scoring but it's set up like you're back in the 70s!! The staff working when my party was there were all very friendly and attentive and that makes for a great experience. One highlight for me that I have to mention are the punchbowls! These huge drinks are boozy and delicious and totally made for sharing. I recommend trying all 3 but maybe not all in one sitting! What an absolutely fabulously night of fun. We (my favourite bowling companion) who is also my favourite dinner companion and I met tons of people and bowled with some semi-pro's. Now about the Dusty. Beyond the parking situation everything there is perfect. The wait-staff were friendly, helpful and smiley. (I'm trying out this new word to see if it sticks). We were on PST so we arrived an 1hour and a half early, so we wouldn't be late. The entire motif is retro, if there weren't a bar, it would be a soda fountain. The lanes were dry which allowed my ball to show off. If you live, work, are in school in that area - this is the place. If you are traveling to the area, call first because there are only six lanes...make sure you can get in where ya fit in. Oh, the seats are low and comfy like a continuous couch which is very cute and very 70's. All I can say is go Dusty, we enjoyed ourselves. read more

This place cannot communicate. We called and they didn't answer so we called again 30 mins later. They told us that it was a two and a half hour wait time at 7pm and that they would put our name down. We showed up at 9pm and got told that at 8pm we got sent a text the lane was ready ... it was never communicated that we would revive a text or that it could be before the time given to us. They then told us we could bowl in our lane for the last thirty mins of our reservation and then proceeded to check our ids. We then we got told that after 9pm it was 21 and up which was also not communicated on the phone call. This was pretty disappointing considering how cool of an atmosphere this place has. Retro spin on a timeless activity. Great for work happy hour, out-of-town guest entertainment and weekend birthday parties. The music is great, often 90s/2000s throwback. DJ Kylie will not disappoint, if you're lucky enough to visit DB on a night she's there. Family-friendly during the day and early evening, but there's also an abundance of tasty adult beverages. The frozen LIT is my favorite, but beware. It's dangerous! The only downside: you have to keep your own score. It's retro, so no fancy computer screens with cheesy strike/spare celebration cartoons. But if you ask the wait staff for assistance, you'll receive a brief but thorough tutorial, which should address all of your bowling scoring needs. read more

What a great time! We hosted a small birthday party for our 12 year old twin boys. They brought along 3 friends to bowl. We secured the first available reservation (noon on Saturday) and immediately the staff was attentive and sweet. They helped get everyone set up to bowl and took care of us during our time there. Super cute place and I like that it has a smaller capacity since it doesn't feel overwhelming. Cute retro vibe. The food was surprisingly delicious. The boys devoured the chicken poppers and they were a little spicy (in a good way!) but well-seasoned and perfectly cooked. We also enjoyed the Queso, Onion Rings, and some BBQ Totchos. The parents and grandparents were able to chat and relax in the lounge area and the boys had a blast. Will definitely return! To quote our boys: BEST BIRTHDAY EVER! Post Covid, so many places have changed staff, hours of operation, availability of items, and even changed the way they treat customers. No joke, several restaurants i've eaten at lately, I witnessed employees ignore and even talk back to customers in a rude and condescending tone. Coming back to this review, the Dust Bowl has also been thru alot since Covid, and alot of it is for the better. Currently they are open everyday except Monday, but not as late anymore, until business picks up, which is understandable. Nearly all the staff has been replaced after Covid forced layoffs, but the newbies seem really caring and work so hard. A few times, I've even seen them working alone, but not once were they rude, ignore me, or give me an attitude. Lets be honest ya'll, we can be a selfish bunch and alot of times we don't realize that one person is working as a bartending, shoe renting, phone answering, lane fixing, food running cashier. So sometimes, they tend to get busy and backed up, yet whenever they finally get to me, its always with a smile and with urgency. Even though I've seen them running around, I'm still given the full attention I deserve. THANK YOU to Monica, other girl who's name I cant remember, Luis, and CJ. Of the times I have been there, I always see you guys hustling and doing your best to make sure all us drunken, loud, impatient bowlers are all having a good time. I heard from the manager at the Dilly, that Luis is the new General Manager of the Dust Bowl. He's been there a while, and his drinks are always perfectly made. I think he has a spanish accent (not sure), but he always has a smile. If you ever get the chance to chat with him, DO IT. Our group was talking with him about a show, and all I can remember was he was so funny and very sarcastic but in a really funny way. We were all rolling, one of my friends had to walk away because she said she was gonna pee her pants from laughing so hard. That guy definitely is the true definition of "Customer Service", its no wonder why he is running the place. He seems to be infecting the rest of the staff with his urgency, smiles, and humor. To end this review, The Dust Bowl, like nearly every other place, has changed and is still changing. But what is still the same, is the experience. The retro vibe, the friendly staff, the amazing drinks (try one smoked), the good times and good feelings you get when you leave there. The Dust Bowl is a great bowling place to hang out with friends. The old school vibe is very unique and takes you back in time. It's a small bowling alley with a lot of charm, very different from your regular crowded bowling alleys. This place only has eight lanes so it feels a lot more intimate. Great for small group hang out or even take someone there for a date. In addition, the Dust Bowl has a good selection of beer and cocktails. They also have some bar snacks if you are hungry. They do have a VIP lounge which has only two lanes that is great for groups and parties. The lanes are $20 an hour which may be a little pricier than other bowling alley but you get a small intimate atmosphere instead of a loud crowded bowling alley. Dust Bowl is a fun little spot in downtown Tulsa. I just wish the service was better! Our lane was broken and the attendant was nowhere to be found to help fix it. When we finally tracked her down, she made us restart the game because she "didn't know how any of this stuff worked." Even the lane she moved us to wasn't working. I love this bowling alley which has a 1970's nostalgic feel. They have six lanes in the public view and two other lanes for more privacy. It is so inexpensive; $10 per hour in fact. They carry bowling shoes that fit every kind of foot. A fully stock bar with a cocktail list and a variety beers in bottles, cans and on tap. And if this place couldn't get better, the food menu was Heaven. I opted with the fried chicken sandwich bathed in hot sauce Mayo and pickles. It was so good and tasty! They are so many places to sit to eat and have a drink too. There are couches (like Grandma had growing up) off to the side with old fashion TVs; it give the environment a homey vibe. Also, if you wanna grab a sample or some air -- check out the back patio. The service was wonderful too -- the two ladies working there were so nice. If I have visitors in town for only a few hours, this is where I take them! It is located in thriving downtown in the glorious Blue Dome District so a full day and/or evening can be enjoyed parking centrally in this area. For weekends, be sure to make a reservation for a lane if you desire to bowl... which I highly recommend! From the front door, to the retro carpet, the framed framed photo of Nixon bowling, to the well working vintage arcade games, this place has serious style and gives bowling a beautiful vintage vibe. When you bowl, I recommend going with another couple of people to split the bill or it can be pricey. Price is depends on how long you occupy a lane and shoe rental is extra. This place stays true to being old school so it doesn't have TV's which keep track of your score. You are given you're own score sheet so be sure to google how to keep score. Not interested in bowling but want to enjoy a drink? Do it here. Huge wooden tables are around the bar area which accommodates larger groups and they share one of the best back patios in Tulsa with Dilly Deli. -Not kid-friendly, this is a bar. -Good for happy hours and going out on the weekends. -Old-school lanes (no bumpers, need someone to keep score) which are a lot more fun than the kind you'll find other places IMO. They have a small food menu, which is nothing special, but if you're dying of hunger and don't want to leave your drinking pals, the food will suffice. Drink prices are a little above-average, but won't break the bank. A lot of my girl friends like the frozen LITs when it's warmer. They can be dangerous. Sometimes on the weekends they have DJs and it can get pretty packed. TIPS: Go out to the back patio to get some fresh air. The door is up a ramp to the left of the bowling lanes. They have some funky couches made of fake grass and matching stools, which are giant springs that you can bounce on. They have happy hour bowling that is pretty cheap. read more

In my 35 years on this Earth I've been to many a bowling alley. Don't get me wrong, I'm terrible at it. One time I bowled a 165. One time. Take that outlier out and I average probably a 95. Surprisingly, watching and discussing the Big Lewbowski so many times that you can recite every line only increases your interest in bowling, not your skill. Sorry Smoky, you were over the line. I definitely still enjoy the occasional outing. And I have to say, the Dust Bowl is my favorite place ever to bowl. There are a lot of reasons why that I'll get to, but first and foremost, you score your own game! On paper even! There's something so impersonal and cold about the automatic scoring at other bowling alleys. Some places try to dress it up by having funny animations. But where's the fun of arguing over exactly how many pins are left? Where's the fun of seeing how much alcohol inhibits your ability to do simple math? Where's the fun of being able to put vulgar nicknames down for your friends without fear of being asked to leave for being "entirely too inappropriate, especially for someone of your age, sir"? Another totally random but awesome thing about here? The front doors. They are HUGE! It's like an entire bowling lane is the very front door, which takes you into a small room with another huge door. It's completely bizarre, but it really sets the stage for the fun you're about to have. You rent a lane by the hour. I've only been during the day over the weekend, so it was never crowded but I'm sure it's a different animal on Friday or Saturday night. There are about 8 lanes and then another couple on a sectioned off private room that you can rent for a party. Whenever there's a party, they always sound like they are having a lot of fun. If you do need to wait, there's a nice large bar area. The drinks are good, I of course go for the White Russian when I bowl. You just have to, and the dude abides. For the food they have some sandwiches, but the main event are the tater tots with a variety of creative toppings. Really, the bar itself warrants visiting, even if you aren't going to bowl. So if you want to have a great time, come to the Dust Bowl. Eat some tots. Do the Jesus dance when you roll a strike. Talk about how your rug really brings your room together. You'll have more fun than a Jackie Treehorn beach party. read more

Dust Bowl has been so up and down since it opened it is hard to put a finger on it, especially where ratings are concerned. First, I most recently visited because we had a company party there during the day. As an event space, it is an outstanding venue, and with very minimal staff, you can have a great afternoon of drinks, bowling and food (ours was catered in from El Guapo's, I believe, but I'm sure you could do something small in-house if you wanted). I've also been to private functions in their smaller, two lane room, which were just as fun, just a bit more intimate. As a bar, Dust Bowl is very hit or miss. There was a time a few years ago when it was THE place to be--long lines to get it, absolutely packed with people inside, and fun every time you went. But things changed fairly quickly--they stopped hosting DJs as much, there were some fights, other bars opened, etc. which led to it not being so hot a spot. Now I think it's a great place to start the night, meet up with fairly large groups as they have outstanding large table and outdoor space and definitely a must-hit on any pub crawl, but it's not someplace I would end my might any more. I'm a big fan overall, and I mean where else in Tulsa are you going to get awesome retro bowling (where you get to keep the score) and a great mix of beers, cocktails and junkfood? The atmosphere was perfect and the staff was incredibly accommodating to help us get set up with bluetooth music, programming the names and making sure we were set all night long - they even let us stay a bit past our reservation because the room was empty after our party. A great little downtown bowling alley, with a full bar, and hilarious food. Dust Bowl is all about the kitschy ridiculousness of old school bowling alleys from our childhood. The execution, is pretty damn right-on. I'm a huge fan of the bathroom decor; from the Miller High Life wallpaper, to the brutally "Olive" fixtures. The concept is fully...flush. The huge bar is a big bonus. Awesome view of downtown, decent drinks, and get ready for some seriously "trailer park" delicacies. Dust Bowl serves a wider range of Tater Tots than you can imagine. Horrifying? Somewhat. Delicious? I gotta say so. I don't think you could live this way every day of the week, but every now and again, it's a nice guilty treat. Oh, they have bowling, too. Dust Bowl is quite possibly my new favorite place in Tulsa. The place in itself is not new, but it is very new to me and holy yay I couldn't be more stoked. This place is very much downtown right in the Blue Dome District, a place you simply can't go wrong to spend part of your day or night. I ventured here on my birthday with my boyfriend for something to do for a few hours. Best choice ever! We had a blast and got slightly tipsy in the process, but I still slayed my lane like I'd been practicing for years. Okay maybe I exaggerate but bowling is a great thing to do especially if you have no shame like me. They've got all ball sizes to choose from and clean shoes in all sizes as well. If you forget socks (don't) then you can purchase some for $2, which you can either keep or throw away when done. I love this place because they have quality beer and good drinks. The last time I had gone bowling (years ago) it was nasty domestics at an extreme price. Bleh. My favorite part of Dust Bowl is the atmosphere. If you love 70's decor, colors and patterns, this place is perfect for you. Plaid carpets, oranges, browns, olives and even furniture to go with it. Great beer and full liquor bar that you can order from your lane and they bring to your table. All scoring here is done old school style, on paper. If you haven't had to do so before it can be confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes near habit. You can ask staff (not all know) or just google it for yourself. And if you don't want to bowl, you can just sit at the bar, or enjoy some TOTS. Damn I forgot about the tots. All kinds of em, and that's all that is there. And if you don't want that either, you can play some video games! I have never made reservations here, but I have heard that on the weekends, especially in the evening it can get pretty busy. I love the throwback feel, the reclaimed bowling lane doors with pins for handles, the weird Barbie dolls. I love your big tables and your back patio. I love tater tots, and your abiding love for the Dude. I love that your servers and bartenders seem to enjoy working there, and aren't too cool for school. Just friendly and fun and good at their jobs. I love that this almost always ends up on my list of places to hang out when I'm in Tulsa, which means I now have memories of being there with some of my favorite friends. We get caught up over a few frames and a few drinks, and do something a bit more interactive and experiential than merely sitting on a barstool. Invariably, laughter and self-deprecation ensues, and I think you always end up having 72% more fun here than you would at a regular bar. In short, I think you should set up shop in Oklahoma City. This place has a great staff, good drinks an fun bowling. Their tater tots are amazing, it's a miracle that so much flavor is conjured out of such a simple item. "Hip Hangout!" My wife and I celebrated our one year anniversary here at the Dust Bowl. Very fun and entertaining experience. Smaller than I thought from the outside but really it is great for a close group of friends. Tots, tots and more tots! They serve tater tots in several different styles and have a full bar for those of you that like drinks with your bowling. Private room for bowling with a intimidate group of friends. We came in with our son and a few of his buddies. We made a reservation, I recommend doing that, and we had lots of fun. You have to know how to keep your own score but they are working on adding two digits in math so that was a fun little lesson! The staff was very attentive. They cleared items away from our table when we were done with them and color coded our kids straws so they could tell which drink was theirs. Now that's the attention to detail that gets you a five star Yelp review! Tots are great, and the corn dogs are homemade. The kids were like "oh my gosh". And this is going to sound weird, but they have the most delicious ketchup. No clue what it is, but it's vinegary and perfect. Anyway, we had lots of fun. read more

When friends recommend going to Dust Bowl for drinks, I'm always a little confused. I understand that it's a bowling alley in downtown that offers adult beverages, but I always assumed the adult beverages are just to compliment the bowling, not a stand along activity there. Recently however, I met some friends at Dust Bowl when they suggested we go for drinks only. The drinks are good - nothing crazy but they do offer a drink menu and have a nice beer selection. The ambiance is lively and, on a Saturday night, filled with tons of people drinking and not bowling. I've really enjoyed bowling at Dust Bowl (bowling, beer and tator tots? Yes please!) but just going there for as a stop in a night out was pretty fun as well. read more
