Came for a pre-dinner cocktail. Any bar in the penthouse has an extra level of cool. There was no one here when I visited, so difficult to assess the normal vibe. The inside isn't that large, with 6-7 booths for sitting, but almost no stools at the bar. Still, it's a classy looking space with lots of dark wood and marble. I tried the 1925 (rye whiskey with vanilla simple syrup, bitters and lemon) which was solid. No one was outside and it was a cloudy day, but it's a fairly large space that seemed like it could be a lot of fun with good weather. They have a DJ on Fri and Sat nights. read more

I love an excuse to come to the Mayo Penthouse Bar! The views of the city from here are great and everyone is just so enjoyable when they are hanging out on a great rooftop, so it's always good to come up here. The bartenders and staff and friendly and patient and helpful. There is a great house cocktails menu. The Mayo Gold is a must try for any vodka fans and it is pretty much always on the menu. I've had other drinks that seem to rotate with the season and have never been upset. You can also order pretty much any other cocktail and they are solid. We had my girlfriend's 50th party here at the hotel. The hotel itself was beautiful. We had one of the private rooms and had our own service team that attended to our party. The set up was simple but pretty. We catered the food from the hotel. I ordered the filet mignon and was so excited for dinner but sadly it was a let down. The filet was more like a beef stew and overcooked. Everyone who ordered the filet had the same reaction. This party wasn't cheap so I felt we didn't get what we paid for. They have a rooftop bar and club where we sat in the vip section because of our booking for the birthday. It was a beautiful up there for sure. The hotel was nice aside from the food. read more

The view was spectacular, the ambiance and vibe when you enter the PH is like stepping Into old Hollywood felt so cool. The bartenders were nice, I don't know why people kept saying they're rude? Then again we got there around 6pm for quick cocktail before a show at BOK. Didn't order food but I kept looking at the menu and it had some pretty good stuff, I will have to go back for the coconut shrimp. We did cocktails and they were delicious hands down. Do you like terrible music that is too loud? Pimps trying to sell you his "girls" uncomfortable atmosphere and felling awkward? Then this is the place for you!! In all seriousness, my wife and I stayed a few years ago and loved everything about the bar and the hotel. We came back with family expecting the same calm and cool atmosphere only to find a club with a DJ unwilling to consider requests. There was an obvious pimp walking around, peddling his women and no one seemed to care. We spoke to the "manager', Michael T, who was less than receptive and dismissed our concerns and was condescending to boot. We aren't one to complain but this used to be a place to go and relax but it was not even tolerable, then when we tried to make a suggestion, it was dismissed as if we were too "Karen" for the real world. We were just disappointed in the Mayo and what we expect from the years of patronage. Unfortunately we will have to take our business elsewhere. read more

This is my go-to place for relaxing and drinks with an amazing view in Tulsa. If you get there around 9 p.m. You will easily get your drinks in a timely manner and before things get pumpin. There is normal a band or a d.j. To keep your shoulders and hips moving. I have actually seen a silent film while a troubadour did his thing. It was a beautiful night. We hit the penthouse for a sunset happy hour event. The space is rectangular. It has dark wood floors, the lower half of the walls are wood paneling, upper half are painted emerald green, stained glass windows with purple and yellow furniture accentuating the room. Tonight they had a solo artist performing fairly current music. In a place like this you would assume someone would come take your order but we found that isn't the case. We ordered drinks and appetizers at the bar. My interaction with the bartender was less than stellar. Honestly she seemed a little short for the beginning of a shift. We moved past that and sat where we could enjoy the music. They had him stuck between the bar and a half wall making it difficult to actually see him perform but he sounded good. As sunset approached we decide to go out onto the roof top patio. Unfortunately the walls that surround this patio are 5 or 6ish feet tall blocking some great views if you are short. I understand this is for safety purposes. We did end up standing on some chairs to fully enjoy the views. Btw, that is frowned upon. Understandably we were asked to get down. They have a smaller secondary patio off to the side above this one but it was closed. After some time we returned to a seat in the bar. Our food arrived shortly after. The chicken flat bread is served round in a pizza box. It was satisfying. The mushrooms were not. We received 5 sad looking stuffed mushrooms that tasted faintly of dirt. We used all of the dip to cover the taste. I am not sure I will order food again. My bill was a little over $20 for 1 small drink and 1 appetizer. I wouldn't say this is a great happy hour value but it is considerably less than their normal prices and a decent way to try them out for the city views. read more

Come here in the summer or a great weather day. The view along their rooftop Is to die for of downtown Tulsa. Their bar is very small and only one person working. We came on a night that there was an engagement party and got good service right away. However, I feel like if we wanted more than one drink we wouldn't have. We sat along the comfy leather couches in the corner by the bathrooms and kept noticing the bartenders leaving for smoke breaks and coming back in smelling like smoke. My folks were in town and I was very excited to take them to a spot I hadn't been to yet! The views are obviously to die for! A great 270 degree view of Tulsa's skyline and surrounding suburbs! Even the bathrooms have amazing views!! When we were there, there was only a few people and it was great. The drinks were reasonably priced and the bar tender quick and friendly. It is sad that a space with this much potential has been wasted. It was 11:05 on Saturday night. A group of us had been to a wedding and we were all going to meet at the Mayo for some drinks. The six of us, all dressed nicely from the wedding, go to the elevator to find a line of four or five individuals waiting to be allowed up to the Rooftop bar. Two "gentlemen" employed by the hotel, both dressed in black, one with his arms crossed as if he is ready to throw you out of the building and the other with his earpiece and mic, are blocking the elevators and refusing to let people upstairs. Our group assumes the rooftop must be crowded and the fire code prevent us from going upstairs. We ask what the deal is and, instead of given any information, are just told to "Wait here." While standing in line we watch in excess of twenty people leave the elevators presumably coming from the upstairs bar. The "We wish we were Vegas Bouncers" still refused to let anyone upstairs. Our group said this is silly and we walked to the small bar area across from the elevators. It was busy and there were seats available for our group just passed the seating in front of the bar. We sat down. After a minute or two, we were approached by a waiter who told us we couldn't sit there because the "restaurant" was closed. Interesting, there were no signs announcing that this area five feet from the bar was a restaurant and, as I told the waiter, we don't want food, we want to order drinks. He would allow us to stay in the "restaurant", but we had to go to the bar to get drinks. We did. By now it was 11:35. We were told it was last call and we needed to be out by twelve. We took our drinks and went to stand in the line for the rooftop bar. It stayed open later, if you could get up there. Ten minutes in line, several elevators of people leaving the rooftop bar with no corresponding group of people being let upstairs and finally, we were "allowed", or perhaps "deemed worthy" enough of ascending to the rooftop. The doors open and you are greeted with an area that was at most, 35-40% full. The outdoor area is concrete with railings so high you don't have a view. You have to go back inside to order a drink from the bar. The entire attitude and feel was "we don't want you here". To a certain extent, after my experience, I agree with them. I was super excited to see the hotel bar because the hotel itself is spectacular. It's on the roof and it had seating both inside and outside. The inside space/bar area is pretty small and they have a side section, which I assume is normally open, but was closed for a private party when I was there. All the furniture is very lounge-y both inside and out--just what you need at a hotel bar. The outside was pretty cool for the most part. You could see the big red hotel letters that glowed red and said "MAYO" overlooking the city. Pretty cool seeing them up close. There was an okay view of the city but high beams in the way. I had the bartender make me whatever he wanted and it turned out pretty good. I told him I wanted something with Whiskey and he ran with it. Overall a solid hotel bar! read more

Worth checking out for the unbelievable view, but besides that a lot is left to be desired. It's confusing to find and not clearly marked. There aren't really any signs saying it even exists and the elevator just has the old timey PH on the button that usually means only certain people can get to that floor. When we got up there, there was a table out with birthday cake and a bunch of food that made me think someone was having a private party. Between all that and an odd bar setup that looks more like the cash bar at a wedding, I thought I was about to get thrown out for crashing someone's party. It wasn't until we asked a bartender that we found out we weren't going to be prosecuted for trespassing. All of this could have added to a hidden gem feeling, like Cellar Dweller, but it was just annoying. The bartender was friendly, but two strikes against them. First, he poured me the wrong drink. Second, my wife's drink came in a dirty glass. Like blatantly dirty. With this huge bright pink lipstick mark on the rim, like Lisa Turtle's drink on that Saved by the Bell where they went to the murder mystery weekend. I'll give you a second to pickup your jaw. When I brought back the drink, the bartender just poured that same drink into a new glass. Could have done a little more there and shown some surprise at the dirty glass and remade the cocktail. I'm not going to rate this place that badly though. The view truly is remarkable, although I think hey could do a little bit better on the patio lay out. It was also really really crowded, but I can't be too upset about that on a Saturday night. I think if you have someone visiting and the weather is right, this is a great place to take them for a drink on a weekend afternoon or a week night to show off the beautiful Tulsa skyline. Or, have a private party here. Seems just fine for that. Otherwise, this just isn't going to be a regular stop for me. read more

Every city needs a great rooftop bar, and in Tulsa, this is absolutely the spot. Three quarters of the roof are accessible for a view and yeah, it's smoker friendly, but it's easy to find a spot of your own as long as the place isn't jam packed. And yeah, the drinks are premium-priced, but guess what? A) you're in a hotel and B) the drinks are good, some of the cocktails are exceptional, so that's expected. I visited the place twice, both experiences really shined from a service standpoint. The space is modern, sparse, and inviting. Everyone will tell you that when the rich and famous visit this city, this is the spot they drink--er, imbibe, at. And for good reason. A corner of the interior can host musicians, it's the kind of venue where you could imagine Jack White breaking out an acoustic session in the wee hours, just for the heck of it. And speaking of hours, they're limited, so make sure to check the specs before you visit. If you're popping in from out of town, this bar really crowns your stay at the Mayo. Great cafe downstairs, incredible rooms, and top-notch drinks on the roof. Is there any reason to leave? Oh yeah. That town, Tulsa, is pretty fantastic, too. read more

We showed up at about 10 pm. It took me upwards of 15 minutes to get a vodka/redbull. A girl stepped up next to me, and after looking at me disdainfully the female bartender took her order first. I was not pleased. I would have left before even getting the first drink, but quite a few of our friends were coming so I stayed through that one. After my boyfriend, and I left the rest of our party told us it was taking at least 20 minutes to get a drink. I only ordered one drink so I am not to sure on the prices. The only thing good about this place is the fact that it's a rooftop bar (which there aren't very many of in Tulsa). The rooftop itself has plenty of seating and a great view of the Arkansas River. A group of about 8 of us decided to hit this bar on a Saturday night. We got out of the elevators and were greeted with what seemed like a fairly classy looking place. The first problem we encountered was the music that was playing.... two guys on acoustic guitars doing covers of terrible 90's country songs. What??? I'm not ragging on their musical abilities, but they were totally out of place in a bar like this. Anyway, we all got drinks and sat down in this lounge area. We were there for about 10 minutes when some lanky wanna-be bouncer comes over and quite rudely kicks us out of the lounge, saying it's for "VIP's." If he had asked nicely it would have been no problem, but he was being a huge jerk about it. We get up and walk to the other side of the bar, and the "bouncer" ropes off the area. Oh, did I mention this so-called VIP area takes up HALF OF THE FREAKING INSIDE BAR AREA?? On top of that, it was like 40 degrees outside, so forget hanging out on the roof for more room. So, yeah, literally half of the bar was shut down for whoever these "VIP's" were, and now there's 8 of us standing around some wobbly 3 foot wide table and the crappy country music keeps playing. We finished our drinks and left, vowing never to return to this terrible excuse for a bar. I can't comment on the price of the drinks, because somebody paid for mine, but I've heard they're way overpriced. The Mayo Penthouse Bar is one of the worst bars in Tulsa. They need a LOT of work if they plan on sticking around for any length of time. The staff is rude and make you feel like they don't want you there at all, so do them a favor and don't go. read more
