I've been here a few times to catch some live music. With this type of setting, it makes me enjoy the music + live entertainment more. It's very dim inside while the light shines on the stage. Lowdown is fitting for a date. With a full bar sitting directly across from the stage, a friend of mine offered me a drink (I don't drink anymore) & when a bartender overheard that I don't drink, he offered Mood Brü. I wish I could remember the flavor, it was really good (I like all of the Mood Brü flavors). LowDown is downstairs from Duet, a spot you can grab a bite (the last time I had food there was for a New Year's Eve & it was good). A plus about LowDown is that a lot of acts out of Tulsa perform there. It's a good way to get familiar with the local scene. Came for the Jazz Jam event hosted on Wednesdays. Music teachers intertwine their students into different "bands" to showcase their musical talents. This is such a great event and space. Live music/entertainment is one thing I'll never take for granted after the pandemic. There's no replacement for it and I'm extremely glad it's back at venues like this one. This is the underground bar lounge below Duet Restaurant, formerly knows as Duet Jazz Club, in the historic Archer building. Now it's under a new name and it has come back better than ever! The space itself was created as a listening room so the acoustics are amazing. It has a speakeasy vibe with low ceilings, lifting and tons of ambiance. It is also very intimate, full capacity is 100 (including staff, musicians, performers, etc.). This makes it perfect for live music (mostly jazz, instrumental, soul, folk, but also salsa and more!) stand up, jam sessions, mic nights and other special performances. This also means you should look at their event calendar online and get tickets to the shows you want to attend to beforehand online. You don't want to get turned away or have to wait for someone to leave to get in! They have a great selection of drinks and food items as well. Their French 75 is my favorite and they have small food items including sushi from In The Raw! read more

The LowDown is absolutely my new favorite place in Tulsa. Before making the move here, we considered Kansas City, MO, in part for its rich jazz history and culture, along with plenty of top-tier venues to hear live music. Tulsa isn't a bad second! With something going on nearly every night of the week, LowDown has tons of opportunities to hear renowned musicians, national and local, make new friends, and expand your auditory horizons. I was thrilled recently to hear a performance of John Coltrane's legendary "A Love Supreme" featuring a musician from my hometown of the Bay Area, who has played at staples there like Yoshi's and the Monterey Jazz Festival. I always say Tulsa reminds me of Northern California, and this is yet another connection. We also thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the EP release of local brass band King Cabbage, and there's tons of performances featuring students and young musicians looking to cut their teeth. Jeff, the manager, is a delight, and Madeline who runs the operations is turning this into a high-class establishment, complete with table service. With a food menu including options from In the Raw Sushi, an excellent wine list, and some truly tasty cocktails, it's best to buy tickets online, come early, find yourself a seat, and plan to stay awhile. read more

I can't even leave a review of the venue because I couldn't get in. The show was sold out, understandably they were waiting for the 9:30 break, I got there at 9:18, and the club manager Jeff refused to sell me a ticket... even though 20 people hadn't arrived! He was rude and embarrassed me, I'm sure if I had been a man he would have sold me a ticket. He sure has that California and New York rude attitude. Had tickets for Annie Ellicott's Christmas concert with her 7-piece band with entry time of 7pm when the doors opened. Got to pick our seats at a 4-top right in front of the stage. We ate upstairs at Duet. Had a couple of appetizers and wine and were able to take the elevator down to LowDown at 7:00pm. Greeted by friendly staff and shown to our table where the other couple were already seated. Ordered off the small menu (Chloe Sauvignon Blanc ($14) for both my partner and I. The club only holds 100 and it started to fill right up until the show at 8pm. It was a great concert and the couple we shared the table with were very nice. The only problem is I believe there were only three waitresses and we didn't see ours again for over 2 hours. We tried to go to the bar to get a couple of more wines at 9:15, but the bar was so crowded we returned to the table and were able to flag down another server to end the evening at 11:15 with our last glass of wine. Parking is at a premium here and we planned ahead to arrive downtown at 5:30, find a good close parking spot right outside the door, eat beforehand and no long walks after the performance. read more
