This place is labeled by Yelp as "dive bar." Well, OK. But it is a super pleasant place, where everyone is super friendly and standard beers and drinks are served. It is semi-kitschy, but probably better described as a friendly bar habitated by people who like bicycling and that culture. They did not have music the night that I was there. The Soundpony is a staple in Tulsa dive bars. Located in the downtown area of Tulsa the Soundpony is definitely a happening hipster hang out. I was invited to a friends art show here called "Thanks for the Invite Gary Mason". It featured local Tulsa artists, photographers, and DJs showing their stuff that turned into a day party. One cool thing that I noticed is that all of the artist had a feature drink on the menu during the event. The Jenee' Tea for example was Hennessy and orange juice and boy was it a doozy. Amy took care of me at the bar and also told me about the three dollar Mamosa deal they had going on. I spent about $12 and was feeling the vibes and the drinks. The Soundpony is a very cool bar, filled with Art and nostalgic things such as Pac-Man and Streetfighter to play while having good stiff drinks with friends. read more

Soundpony is my favorite bar in Tulsa. This divy saloon is definitely not a run-of-the-mill, cookie cutter bar. This unique "bicycle bar" vibe has roots with Tulsa Tough and the legendary Cry Baby Hill (Tulsa's best party, see reviews). The staff is great and there's always really good music by DJ or live band any given night, with a small area for dancing up front. It's non-smoking inside with an ever changing graffiti style painted patio out back that's just as popular to hangout at. The crowd is always super cool, friendly, and diverse. The restrooms are a must as well, and quite possibly the worst in town. All of these reasons make the "Pony" my favorite watering hole in the Tulsa area. But don't take my word for it, come have a Hamster Ball (Hamm's beer and a shot of Fireball) for only $5, and enjoy the place for yourself! read more

This is hands down my favorite bar in Tulsa, and as such, I don't want you to go there (that way it won't be at capacity and I won't have to wait in line to get in). Soundpony has a great location right next to Cain's ballroom, which is probably one of if not the best music venue in the state. There is also frequently music at Pony, but rarely if ever have I had to pay a cover. As some other reviewers stated, the best part about Soundpony is the people. From the bartenders, to the owner to the regulars, there is always someone cool to talk to. Drinks are extremely reasonably priced (when I'm feeling' fancy I like to get the $10 bottle of champagne) and on big festival weekends, especially Tulsa Tough, the bar is the hotbed of fun and craziness. On Tuesdays they have trivia that is the best in the city involving music identification, a physical challenge, and actual trivia questions (rather than dumb identify this celeb pic pop culture). If you like chill people, cyclists, cheap drinks (and hot dogs) and fun, Soundpony is a must for any visit to Tulsa/the Brady Arts District. read more

Along with about 3 other patrons we hung out on the patio for a drink. We both had a long island tea. Not too strong and pretty standard. The Soundpony is my favorite bar in Tulsa. The drinks are relatively cheap, all the bartenders are friendly, and the environment is great. The décor is themed on bike racing, so there are all kinds of bikes hanging from the ceiling, racing numbers and race posters plastered on the walls, and even a chair made out of bike parts! Generally, there are cool people and something happening at the Pony. Oftentimes that's live music, which is usually pretty danceable and loud, or occasionally it's a bike ride through town. Also, every Tuesday at 9:30 is trivia night, which is always a good time. Basically, if you are looking for a bar where you want to become a regular and you are in your 20s-30s, you should definitely put the Pony on your list of places to check out. Had a great time until a bouncer name Bug removed me from the premises because I said I listen to podcast that she doesn't like. I was happy to agree to disagree but she continued to escalate the situation and abuse her position as bouncer to kick a customer out suddenly over a simple difference of opinion. You can get a shot + a beer for $5. It's a fun time and there's usually a bomb DJ or live music on the weekends. It's like indie/alternative/EDM, which is personally what I groove to best. Jeeze o' petey is the bar fun. It's such a great bar to meet some of Tulsa's finest locals. I don't know what it is, but it just feels like fun people congregate here at any given time. It's become a staple visit before (and sometimes after) Cain's Ballroom shows. Bartenders are laid back and friendly and serve some of the most reasonably priced drinks I've ever seen. The atmosphere is dim and cool with bicycle memorabilia around. An area at the front of the bar space is perfect for live DJ events, bands, and dance parties. A patio is in the back with a couple tables with seating. AND GUESS WHAT?! A PAC-MAN machine awaits. And, I am your biggest challenger. Last I checked, I have the high score. I will gladly accept any challenger - just be prepared to cry. read more

This place totally surprised me - I normally don't hang out in places like this. I typically frequent places like abandoned slaughterhouses, dried up river beds, and sometimes even that old railway car in the woods near Turkey Mountain (the red one, not the green one - that is Nick's). None of them compare to this place. From what I have been able to piece together of my first night here; I met 20 new friends, created a new drink with the bartender, bought a hat that was not actually for sale, and then ended up partying with said 20 people at this sweet house until 8am. I don't remember the walk home from that house. I went there another time as well: Short story long, I went on this date and it ended up being an awesome date. I was so swimmingly suave and cavalier that we both ended up mesmerized (there was a mirror behind her the whole time) and we missed the AWOL Nation/Neon Trees show completely. With a heavy heart, we retreated back to our dwellings, but as we passed, we poked our heads into the SP and trivia was happening. The bartender saw how melancholy I looked, and as I turned to go he said, "whoa young chap, fancy a dance with the devil?!" ...or something like that, and so tremulously I entered; and low and behold: I had another amazing night AGAIN. If you read this review and thought, "Sound Pony sounds like 100 Ewoks and myself riding through Valhalla on the backs of giant fireflies", then I think you will fit in just fine. If you didn't think that then, well...you probably identify yourself as a 'cat person'. read more

Where everyone knows your name... I first attended this bar 4 years ago and met one of the owners, Mike. Leaving town and not returning to Soundpony for over a month, I walked in and was greeted by name weeks later. This is the initial reason I started frequenting this bar. To the point, if you want to go somewhere that is non-smoking (but has a rad patio out back with benches and such), open minded, great atmosphere, live tunes, good records, fun bartenders, hot dogs, cheap drinks, hefty shots...I could keep going...then Soundpony is the place for you. Out of towners: Triva w/ Jack on Tuesday is good times. Be there around 10pm. If you're afraid of pretentious bands, boys in tight jeans, and girls with ironic glasses, the pony is not for you. As packed as it gets on the weekends, plenty of people think the pony is for them. Most of the time I only come in really early or really late when it's not quite as busy. But the prices are great, the beer selection is respectable and it really knows its niche. read more

Hands down one of the best bars in all of Tulsa. I know it's in my top! This is one of those places I felt welcome in immediately the first time I walked in, as well as every time there after. They've always got great music and a great crowd. They've got a fantastic beer selection (probably my favorite part) as well as liquors. You can head here for a super cheap drink or high quality, perhaps pricey beverage as well. Okay I lied, my absolute favorite part is.....FREE GAMES! I sit and play Pacman with my friend for probably an embarrassing length of time. But it sucks you in! I do hold the high score too *nerd alert* The Soundpony also has one of my favorite patios in town. Plenty of seating and one of the best views around, enjoy it while you can because there are some ridiculously priced condos that are going to be built next door and obstruct it all. BOOOO. This is the BEST BAR in Tulsa, if not the United States. I've done my fair share of traveling throughout the country, and can honestly say that this is my favorite bar. I guess it could be that I love bikes, but more than that it is that I love cheap beer, good music, rad bartenders (zany) and hot dogs. This bar has those. Also, it has a patio out back. I am visiting from Austin,tx and we always visit soundpony with my good friends who live here. It is an interesting setup with bicycle decor all over the place. It is a small facility and it gets crowded very easily. The music here has always been great. It is always something different, which is nice, Bathrooms leave a lot to be desired. Two working toilets would have been great. I want to really like this place but it leaves me yearning for the mohawk, jackalope, beauty bar,and opals of Austin. read more

I really love this place. It has a reputation for only being for hipsters but people of all walks show up. The staff is awesome, including the owners. The bottled and canned beer selection is great (suggest the $3 16oz Hollandia) Try coming on a Tuesday night for Trivia, my favorite time for sure. only bad thing I can say is the lack of seating inside, but they cant really make the bar any roomier. read more
