This was the best meal of our entire trip! Every plate was delicious (hot chicken and banana bread pudding were our faves), the server was wonderful, ambience comfortable, and even with two bottles of wine - total bill was very reasonable, especially compared to similar restaurants in the area. Could not have asked for a better experience and really made up for several duds that had been highly rated on many sites. The Company next door for tastings and dinner here is a perfect combo and I'll certainly insist both to anyone in the vicinity. Absolutely loved it. Brought a group of 9 gals to Circa for brunch and we were delighted to have chosen this as our spot!... atmosphere was just right for the occasion, "upscale Southern" is how I'd describe it. The food quality was top-notch with a wide variety of choices. I had the charred broccolini salad w/chicken and the chicken is always the test -- it was very tender and flavorful, great dish! Also, kudos to Stephanie P. who did a fabulous job of handling a variety of diet restrictions that our bunch has, and she went above and beyond to serve a cake we had brought along to celebrate someone's birthday. Well, after reading the reviews, and seeing all the cars in the parking lot, we finally decided to eat at Circa. JJ our waitress was great, which is why I gave it two stars instead of one, but much in the way a poor wait staff can ruin an otherwise excellent meal, in this case a good wait staff cannot sufficiently resurrect a mediocre, underwhelming, over-priced meal. The shrimp and grits were completely devoid of anything approximating seasoning. With a wife born and raised in Savannah, and a life spent down south, I can honestly say I've never had such bland food in my life. I seriously doubt they even salted the water for the grits. And while I have no great love for "cheese grits", cheese would have been a welcome addition. The hamburger was only ok. Not stellar by any stretch. It would have almost risen to the level of "5 Guys", if only the bun had not been overly dried out (stale?). As for the appetizers, the crab cake was decent, but the tuna (cold seared tuna? Interesting concept...) was coated with a substance that resembled rhino liner. And the drinks? Meh... So, $110 dollars later... I guess if you have never lived anywhere else, this establishment may impress. With their high prices and totally ala carte menu you would certainly think that such pretentiousness would mean great cuisine. Such is not the case. The best I can offer is that, while they make a casual nod to Mr. Mark Twain in their cocktails, embracing Shakespeare may be a better use of their time, since this experience was certainly "Much Ado About Nothing"... read more

We had the best night at Circa. We sat at the bar, and JJ is great! We had the pork belly app (husband loved it). We split the shrimp and grits and burger. Both were delicious, but the burger was just unreal. The pimento cheese topping and crispy burger edge was really something. Don't forget to get a side of homemade ranch for your fries! Amazing restaurant. JJ was a fabulous server. Whiskey drink Fork in the Road was a great take on the Old Fashioned. Appetizers pork belly and potato skins were great tasting. Cesar Salad with the crumble croutons was a must have. Sides Lobster Mac and Brisket Skins we fabulous. My only problem was our cut of meat was NOT a ribeye but it was seasoned and cooked to perfection. read more

In from out of town and our friends wanted to take us to this popular restaurant that they enjoy. Great! Unfortunately, nothing here lived up to the hype. Even our friends agreed that their dishes were just okay. And that's where we all settled - just okay. Beef Short Rib-just ok. Lobster Gnochi-just ok. Shrimp&Grit-just ok. Arline Chicken-just ok. When the table is talking up the sides it's not a good sign. Would be 3 stars but the kicker was the automatic 20% gratuity added to bill without explanation (we had a party of 6). For inattentive service at best, kind of an insult. Disappointed. read more

After the glowing reviews I was expecting great things but alas, we were sorely disappointed. Appetizers: Broccoli cheese soup - OK, not notable. Belgian Endive salad - five tiny leaves with "pear, cranberry, candied pecans, glaze, butternut squash, chive oil and mustard frills" that were microscopic and sparse. The $13 price tag was absurd. Fried Green Tomatoes advertised bacon jam, pimento cheese, etc but were so heavily crusted and the sauce so heavy that nothing was distinguishable. We split the Seafood Fra Diavolos - a large plate of mush (overcooked) with good shrimp, lobster and miniscule bits of chorizo. Rice was a no-show or mixed with the mush and heat was missing. The chunky bland sauce and the no-taste "whipped ricotta" plopped in the mush was not good. Dessert was a caramel Creme Brulee with a caramel sauce - ruined by redundancy . Pros - locale, service, interior Cons - loss of individual flavors through heavy sauces and/or microscopic bits of alleged ingredients. Price - $130 with wine for 2 (and tip) read more

What a great night out. The smell of smoke hits you as you get near the front door -- that's barbecue smoke, I mean. Inside the place feels as comfortable as home. Great selection of Happy Hour starters and cocktails for us early birds. Food is delicious and we can't wait to work our way through the whole thing. The basket of house made chips was perfectly fried and the sauces were great. Could use a little bit bigger bowl for the sauce though. Some of these chips are BIG. Wife had the cheese plate and it was incredible. The waitress dropped off a fresh baked basket of bread which was also great. I got the grilled chicken sandwich and it was jam-packed with delicious avocado. Wife had the Tequila Mockingbird, without the hibiscus syrup - she loved it. I got Maggie the Cat, which had a hint of habanero syrup in it and was also excellent - not overly sweet or overwhelmingly alcohol. Next time, we may try the desserts - but this time everything we had was perfect. read more

I would have to say my last two experiences at this place has been nothing short of horrific. The first time we went was between lunch and dinner to try to avoid the crowd after being seated and ordered our food. We were told we had to finish up within the hour, because the business closed so we received our food, which obviously takes time to prepare and cook, and then told we need to eat it in the next 30 minutes. We thought we'd give it another go and chalk that off to a one off, but then recently went on a Friday afternoon at just before 5 PM. for an early dinner. When we got in there were a few people sitting at the bar no one sitting at the table and were told all the tables were reserved at six so if we were to eat, we would only be able to sit at the table for 30 minutes, my reply to the hostess was you expect to serve us within 30 minutes and she says no not really. Not only was the waitstaff rude. It was extremely embarrassing. The small unique place used to be considered one of my favorites. However, it is now banished due to their poor service and inability to meet consistent customer needs only now to cater to the $3 million homes that were built in their backyard. 1st time we wanted to try a new place so we came here for dinner we ordered the bread basket for 12.00 and a salad the bread seemed like it was day old bread it was terrible we told them to take it off the table- we were still billed for it there was no corn bread it was being cooked. i ordered the 45.00 filet med temp it was mashed flat to the ground past well done and i could not eat nor did i eat it my wife got the chicken it was good we also got the red potatoes and cajin mac an cheese it was good also. over all service good food not so good after 130.00 with no alcohol, We would not go back and would not recommend to anyone to eat here. read more

Tonight. My husband and I booked a reservation to celebrate our son and law's birthday. There was some push back on our request to sit in a booth which we understand was die to not overwhelming a server. We said we understand but were seated there anyway. Our server Marie seemed unfriendly and did not acknowledge when I told her we were celebrating my son in-laws birthday. Also, my daughter ordered the airplane chicken and was told the side was unavailable. She asked for the side to be changed to mac and cheese and was told she could not do that since it was not an exchangeable side?? Not very accommodating? In the past, one of my favs in the Thompsons Station/Spring Hill area. And, one I often recommended. After my recent visit, I'm sorry to say it has gone down considerably. Had a resv for Saturday at 5 for 3.. arrived on time & was seated at the table by the window... all good.... After a few minutes noticed a fly buzzing around & by the time our waiter came, there was more than one!! We sat there watching our waiter kill the the flies with a menu.... All in all, FIVE dead Flies & ONE dead wasp!!!! And never picked up the corpses! There was still another fly buzzing around, so my Son asked to be seated outside on the porch!!! We gamely carried on & ordered outside ( only one fly out there)! I'll make the rest brief. Our Salmon order was undercooked & cold, ribeye steak was Med WELL, instead of Med Rare & the (Cajun?)Shrimp & grits was tasteless!!! The waiter tried his best .. & the Salmon was returned hot... I just brought my steak home for the dog... At an average of $55.00 a person plus 20% tip... I certainly expected more.......... My last visit for sure!! Any place that has more flies inside the restaurant than outside, does not sit well with me.... God knows what the kitchen must look like!!!! RIP Circa.... Don't waste your money!!! read more

My wife and I ate here for our anniversary dinner last night. What should have been an amazing experience was almost ruined by a bartender who hopefully was just having an exceptionally bad night (I hope this wasn't his norm). Don't know his name but a short guy with spiked hair. Food was amazing! 5 star! Incredible shrimp and grits and she had salmon. Both great! Waiter was very nice and did his best to make up for the inappropriate and obnoxious encounter with Mr. Charming the bartender. My wife ordered a drink and had to send it back twice because they brought out the wrong thing both times. Mr. Wonderful yelled at the waiter the first time, and then felt compelled to come defend himself to my wife the second time. Very rude and condescending conversation that I quickly objected to quite clearly. He stormed off and back to the bar when he realized I wasn't going to stand for him speaking to my wife that way. Very unfortunate. Everything except Mr. Personality was great, but a desire to avoid having to deal with him again may prevent us from going back anytime soon. read more

Driving up you would never think this is a good restaurant and you'd be both right and wrong. It's not a good restaurant, it's a great restaurant. Make sure to sit at the bar, if you can get a seat, where Stefano will make you feel at home. Not only did he make great drinks, his advice on food recommendations were spot on. Very loud in the main dining room, but great food and great cocktails. Can dress up for date night or go more casual with friends and family. Very good with dietary restrictions and allergies. Happy to have a great restaurant on this side of town. Normally I have gotten outstanding service- has been off a time or two (waiter was pretty rude- though efficient- last time we were there- special occasion for an out of town guest), but overall still pretty happy. We came here Sunday morning 7/23 around 11. I tried calling in multiple times to make a reservation and tried booking through the website and kept getting redirected. When we came here we expected there to possibly be a wait, which would be fine. The hostess did not even acknowledge us when we came in or the other people who were waiting in line and didn't smile or make anyone feel welcomed. She got so frustrated and said the only seating I have for you all right now is the bar or you need to wait 30 minutes. Poor attitude. I understand if you get busy it's hard to keep up, but feeling so unwelcomed and not being acknowledged makes my family and I Not want to come back here and certainly would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

The food at this restaurant was amazing & the ambiance was wonderful. Our waitress J.J. Was great. We had the Brisket Skins & the Brown Butter pork belly. We had the best Caesar salad (wish I would have gotten my own & not shared). We had the lobster Mac & cheese & crispy red skin potatoes for sides. The only complaint I had was I ordered a ribeye & what I was served was not a ribeye. I didn't say anything right away, which I should have. Hands down our favorite date night place in the Spring Hill area. Super casual atmosphere with a very attentive and knowledgeable staff. Prices are what you would expect for a higher end dining experience. Menu selections have your standard steak, chicken and fish selections, but my go to is always the hot chicken. The hot chicken is delicious and comes with a fantastic white bean side with some killer mashed potatoes if you so choose. My wife usually settles on a good pasta dish with a individual bottle of proseco to keep the conversation flowing. On special occasions they have a fantastic brunch! I highly encourage making early reservations while the food is coming out first thing in the afternoon. Once things land on the serving trays it's a race to sample all of the deliciousness. read more
