We had a very enjoyable meal. This time, it was just an answer to, 'let's go somewhere for dinner.' And, we had another good experience. I love love the casual atmosphere. The cheese curds were well coated and seasoned. Fried to perfection. The buttermilk ranch was a perfect complement. The chicken bacon ranch salad was plentiful, loaded with stuff. Enough salad for 2. I thoroughly enjoyed by Great Lakes Walleye. Lightly coated with potato flakes and fried to light, flaky, flavorful perfection. The the lemon herb cream sauce gives it just the right pop. A totally enjoyable dish. On the side, I also like the selection of craft beers. This is my new favorite place to eat!

The fish and chips--chips were cooked to perfection but the tartar sauce and fish were just ok. I commented that they basically tasted like nothing. My steak was seasoned well and cooked to perfection; my eggs were just as ordered too. The rye toast was warm, crispy and slathered in real butter. What a great find!

An Exceptional Dining Experience!…read more During a two-day getaway to Paoli, my sister and I discovered Paoli Schoolhouse American Bistro, located in a beautifully restored schoolhouse dating back to 1854. Coming from Chicago, where we're fortunate to have outstanding restaurants, we were thoroughly impressed! We wanted a special evening together, and this restaurant exceeded our expectations. I enjoyed the Beef Wellington and Caesar salad, while my sister ordered the filet. Everything was delicious and both steaks were cooked to perfection. The candlelit dining room was lovely, with live jazz guitar drifting in from the adjoining room. Equally impressive was the exceptional service. Our server, who appeared to also have a management role, was warm, personable, and genuinely interested in our visit. He checked on us throughout dinner, making us feel valued despite a busy restaurant. Everything flowed seamlessly. Outstanding food, beautiful ambiance, and gracious hospitality made this a truly memorable evening. We would happily return!

The restaurant is very unassuming but we are so happy we visited! We started with the Mediterranean platter and I will absolutely order this again because the whipped feta was amazing. I also thought the portions were great for the price. The friendly vibe and incredible staff really put the finishing touches on an awesome night. The prices have just gotten out of control!! We had a bill of $156 for two people which was $186 with a $30 tip. Almost $200 for TWO people!! And it was not even that great. The calamari appetizer was extremely chewy and not good and they served the tentacles, which looked very unappetizing. I had one glass of wine and the person I was with had two, these were $14 each and not a great pour. I had the seafood trio which had exactly two scallops, two shrimp and a small piece of salmon over a bunch of vegetables that did not look made fresh at all and were mushy. The person I was with had the chicken with mashed potatoes, also over what looked like the same vegetables. Everything was just ok, to be honest and the whole thing certainly was not worth $186!!! I am not cheap by any means and will pay good money for great food and appreciate really good food but this was not worth almost $200 at all!! Prices everywhere have just gotten out of hand!

Oh dear! What was supposed to be a great anniversary dinner, wasn't. We made an online reservation…read morefor 7 pm on a Saturday. We arrived promptly at 7 and waited in the lobby for someone to seat us. And waited. And waited. So I called the restaurant and told whoever was in the kitchen that we'd been waiting to be seated for about 15 minutes by then. Immediately our waitress came by and sat us at a table for two, too close to a British couple who gave us the stink eye (Sorry guv, I don't decide where patrons sit; also unlike you, I like to talk to my companion during dinner). There was a birthday party of 8 people and 4 other couples in the restaurant; a lot of empty tables. Our waitress told us that they were short staffed and our food would come only after an hour. She also told us about the 20% gratuity fee upfront which I appreciated. She said that drinks would come immediately but everything else would be a wait. She also said that they had quit allowing anyone else in because of the lack of help. So we did know about the problems beforehand. However, the one hour wait became close to two hours. The margarita I ordered made me tipsy because I was starving by then. They provided 2 little corn muffins that wasn't enough for a 2-hour wait. We had run out of things to talk. I knew there was no point in ordering appetizers because who knew when that would come out? So we waited and waited until all the others were served before our waitress came over to say that they were starting on our food. I had the fried fish - crispy, piping hot and delicious and the truffle fries - cold and limp. My partner had the burger - okay and the regular fries - not enough salt. We walked over to another table to find the salt shaker. At the moment I'd ordered my drink, I had also ordered the entrees and dessert to prevent further delays and so immediately after dinner we had the crème brûlée that was exquisite. We were so hungry that we finished up the ketchup, mayo and tartar sauce. Yeah, that was weird but hunger does that. Our waitress was very nice and comped the margarita because of the delay. I realize that staff shortage is an unfortunate fact of life in the restaurant business but perhaps management should have served complimentary snacks throughout while we were waiting? Even a bag of Lays potato chips from the local Pick 'n Save would have helped stave off hunger. I know that at least two other couples were mildly annoyed at the wait and though it's not the restaurant's fault, I wish that they managed the wait more efficiently.

Salmon was a bit dry and I would have preferred a stronger blacken seasoning. The shrimp étouffe was not as salty as some reviewers said it was. Spicy though. Tender mignon. Because of the crowd, the seats were closer than usual to other guests. When one of them turned to cough, I got worried.
