Quick service. French toast was delicious! Coffee was too watery for me and taste burnt.

This has been a regular spot for us the past couple years. Good food and great chili! Good friendly service, and nice seating. Unfortunately the last time we stopped for lunch the chili wasn't the same, still very tasty but the beans were hard, waxy & a bit chewy. Hope to be back for the original chili soon!

Friendly staff! I was seated promptly even when the place looked busy. No frills place but don't be fooled. They have an expansive menu with many different options and side choices. GF bread was only $1 up charge. They also have soups of the day. Eggs, bacon and GF buttered toast were cooked near perfect. I was disappointed with the hash browns, hoping they would be crispier. They were kissed on the grill and not browned enough. Next time I'll ask for extra crispy!

Love supporting local businesses when we travel. Ellie's was the perfect mix of breakfast for lunch and lunch for lunch. I had two pancakes smothered in whipped butter and syrup. Nice and fluffy and so good. Husband had the chicken bacon ranch salad. It was huge with lots of toppings. He thought it was very good. Service was excellent. We found a nice booth in the back. Cozy diner vibe here. Lots of other patrons enjoying the experience. Gotta love a place that proudly shows their 'People love us on Yelp' sticker on the front door. We agree!

While there's nothing outstanding here, they get the job done if you're hankering for a reasonably priced breakfast. The portions aren't large but about right given the lower than average prices. Service was efficient and friendly. And based on the clientele, pretty sure this place is a "regular" haunt for many. Typical decor for a clean, unpretentious breakfast diner. Plenty of seating with lots of booths.

Food: 4 Service: 5 Ambiance: 5 The food was delicious . The service was impeccable. The ambiance was quaint and welcoming. We ordered the veggie omelette with side of fresh fruit, the American scrambled eggs breakfast and a pancake. Everything was delicious and fresh. The only reason it gets a 4 in the food is because there was some interesting consistency/texture of the pancake batter that felt rubbery but otherwise it was good. All was tasty, clean and not super greasy. I really enjoyed the service and the location. I will be back!

2 eggs and a broken egg. It was good.

Food was good for the price. Service was not great. Was not busy and the focus was on cleaning tables rather than refilling coffee etc.

Kinda basic, but popular and service is great. Be prepared to wait for a table if going at typical mid-morning times.

We've always had good food in Madison and even though we wanted to get home after a long day, we thought it would be worth the delay. Unfortunately, this time, it wasn't worth it. I feel like it's time and money wasted. I'll get to details, but I'm mainly basing this review on the quality of the food I received. Before getting to the food, our service was great. Our server was a bit slow considering there were only 3 tables (including us) occupied. Or it's more of a relaxed atmosphere, so she was just giving us a lot of time to look over the menu. But aside from that, she was friendly, helpful, and kind. Atmosphere is on the dark side. There are two screens to play games (golf, etc) on two corners of the building. I think there are plenty of options, but we were mainly in for food, and didn't really get much info on the games. I did ask whether they were run on a reservation basis, and the hostess (who was also our server) said yes. She didn't mention any pricing, so I'm not sure what the details on that is. Margarita special $5 This was great. Not overly sweet, and just the right amount of booze. It came in a whiskey cup rather than a margarita one. 3sheep chaos pattern on draft Price for draft beer is not cheap, and the beer was great. The glass it came in was super clean, but also warm. I think it just came out of the dishwasher... So clean, but beer glasses should be cold on principle. Wings The description says these are baked, and then fried before tossed in their sauce. The sauce is yummy. The wings are a fairly large size. But I think they forgot to fry it. The skin on the wings weren't at all crispy, but kinda mushy. The meat was well cooked, but also on the dry side. The celery sticks and carrot rings on the side were super fresh and crispy. Blind burger with side salad I ordered it done medium. It came out very well done. For a wagyu, it lacked fat content, and cooked for too long, so it was very dry. We had just hiked 4 hours at Devil's Lake and quite hungry, but I couldn't finish it. Seasoning was great though. And the side salad was also very fresh. Brussels sprouts Something I haven't done in the last 15 years... I had to ask them to redo it. It came out with underdone Brussels. Interestingly, after I asked them to heat it up more for me, it came out perfect, with the right amount of searing on all the cut sides. Overall, it feels like the kitchen was having a bad day and bad timing - wings needed to get in the fryer for longer, burger should've been out of the pan sooner, Brussels should've stayed in longer. For the prices I paid, I expect better food. Especially since the kitchen knows how to fix their stuff! It was like they put 70% into all the dishes until I spoke up. Would I go back? Nope. Not convinced that the 4.4 rating is justified for me.

But in our viewing, we noticed the great happy hour and decided Liberty Station would be out early evening cocktail and appetizer spot...it was the right move! The space is good sized with several areas for seating from the bar to dining room to the patio. It is industrial smokehouse for sure, which is exactly what you want from a bbq joint. We bellied up to the bar, where the bartender was prompt, friendly and helpful. Being our first time, we asked for recommendations and without missing a beat, the brisket loaded fries with a round of old fashioned's...so that is what we went with! The drinks are well, or rail as commonly referred to around this area, and only ran us $5 - $6. They were tasty, but we could definitely tell it was a happy hour special cocktail. The fries were plentiful, definitely enough to share between us two. The brisket was tasty and the fries were crisp. And combined, the old fashioned and brisket fries was a solid duo! Overall, Liberty Station was a solid spot for some tasty food and decent drinks!

Weary is an eclectic space that is full of a hodgepodge of artwork, mirrors, lighting, decor and a bunch of random items that just make sense together. The vibe here is uniquely local for this part of Madison and from the moment you enter through the large ornate wooden door, you are teleported into a special space where a good time is sure to be had! We have come here for Friday Fish Fry, weekday lunch and weekend brunch, and we have never left unhappy or hungry. The menu is made up of mostly classic dishes such as salads, soups, burgers and sandwiches, with a few mains like steak frites and pork chop. Brunch has your classic brunch dishes such as breakfast plates, biscuits and gravy, burrito and of course, French toast. The fish fry is excellent here, especially the pan fried version, which still provides the light, crisp and fresh fish but less the thick breading. For brunch, the breakfast burrito add sausage was spot on and super tasty! For cocktail, they have a stellar menu of house curated cocktails. For brunch, I went with the Bloody Mary and outside of brunch hours, I gravitate to the Killer Bees Knees gin based cocktail. I will grab a beer on occasion, but the cocktails are too good to pass up! Service is always stellar here whether we are sat in the dining room or bellied up to the bar. Overall, absolutely in love The Weary Traveler Freehouse!
