We were able to walk and then get a seat immediately. I had the half tuna sandwich and split pea with ham soup, my wife had half egg salad sandwich with cream of potato soup. Both of our meals were delicious! Both soups were slightly thinker, which is perfect for this very cold day. Our cheese curds were lightly breaded and fried to perfection, the taste was Wisconsin amazing! The restaurant at South is very quaint and comfortable. It was nice and warm and had a lot of historic pictures on the walls. Stopped in for breakfast this morning and there was not a seat in the place! Out server, Kim, saw us and immediately came over to tell us of a table she knew was getting ready to leave! As soon as they paid she came back to let us know and said she had been watching for us!! One of their specials was a gingerbread waffle. I was not sure if I'd like it but gave it a try- I added cinnamon apples (not in the description but I am not a syrup fan so I thought it sounded good. Boy was I right!! In Stoughton to do some shopping and wife mentioned breakfast when passing the Koffee Kup. Since it had been sometime having been here., sounded good. Service and food were outstanding as the last time. Prices are incredibly reasonable. Our entire breakfast (note picture) with coffee (comes in carafe) was under $25. Specials of the day are written on a chalkboard located on the back wall. Be sure and check it before looking at the printed menu. The special on the day we were there was BBQ ribs and we visited later that day is what would have been in front of me. They have wine, beer and alcohol to serve with your dinner. read more

This place is a shell of its former self. The food is just average. The service was slow and the waitress forgot my straw three times. She gave me a diet soda instead of a regular one and didn't come back to the table for such a long time I had to go to the counter and ask someone else for it. Not going back again. read more

I ate at Koffee Kup for the first time with my husband and dad a couple of days ago and it was delicious. The diner is small and cute. Service was great and our waitress was so friendly and quick. I started with the hot chocolate which was hot and delicious plus topped with real Whipped cream and not the stuff from a can! For breakfast I got two scrambled eggs, bacon, toast instead of potatoes and a side of corned beef hash. My husband had a pancake and sausage with 2 eggs. My eggs were cooked well, the bacon was slightly crispy but had great flavor, the star of the show was the super crispy perfectly Salty hash! I'm not usually a fan of link sausage, but in Wisconsin, I think you have to try them and WOW..delicious! They're more like mini brats than the dry, little sausage links you get many places. I would DEFINITELY recommend this place! Rating from F to A+++ I give it an A+++! read more

We were referred to this place by my sons teacher about 4 years ago and have been spotty regulars ever since. 90% of the time it's for breakfast on Saturday's. It is. Dollar for dollar. The very best breakfast place in Dane County. My kids love the hot chocolate year round. It tastes like a liquified Hershey bar. I've tried most everything on the menu but anything with bacon is a winner-it's not Nueskes but whatever it is it's delicious. Other notables include the breakfast burrito which I spice up. It's enormous, cheap and delicious. I've tried lunch there once and it was equally great. One day we'll go the dinner route. Oh. And by the way. Whoever decided to let customers pay at their table via QR code deserves a medal. That's genius. The first-and actually only place in Wisconsin I've seen this. Brilliant. read more

We've been here a couple of times now and each time it was packed! It didn't matter if it was the weekend or a weekday, the place was full. Given it's a first come first served place I suggest expecting a wait or coming at an off time. That being said, they can move people through pretty quickly as the food comes out fast. The waitresses have always been super friendly and willing to give recommendations. We've tried the omelets, whole wheat pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, chili, pie, and malts and all were quite good. Just keep in mind that this is more of a cafe/diner, so its prone to a little greasiness in the omelets. I have been impressed by the quality of chicken that they use for the chicken sandwiches, as my sandwich had a thick chicken breast that was tender and moist. The malts are a must try as they do it right and give you the container the malt is made in with a glass that fits the whole thing on the side. Ours was nice and thick, just what you want for dipping fries into! Overall, great place to go for smaller groups wanting some very tasty/quality diner food. read more

A true family owned restaurant. They don't want to do you wrong because they live here. Historically customers, including my friends and me, have gone to Koffee Kup because of it's legacy for providing excellent service, even when it's busy, and for consistently good meals. The restaurant is known for being at the hub for people in the know. Catching up on what's new in town with robust dialogue often with a "friend" at another table or during more quiet times having an intimate conversation can both occur in this safe and personable place. With a growing number of restaurants in town and the unpredictable Covid and employment recruitment scare, most places have had to squeeze in their services. The Koffee Kup is one of the ones I've missed the most. I hope it will rise again! read more

We keep forgetting about this place, but every time we order it's always delicious. I got a build your own skillet with hash browns, mushrooms, spinach, onion, tomatoes, egg whites, and cheese sauce. My partner and I have been on the hunt for the best cheese sauce we can find and I'll say this is decent. I do appreciate that it wasn't over powering so I could taste the rest of the ingredients in the skillet. My partner got the meat eaters omelette with a hash brown add on. Even with the additional items, our whole order was less than $20. Love it. Pair all of that with super friendly staff and it's a great place to get breakfast. read more

We have gone here DOZENS of times and never had a bad meal. It's our favorite breakfast destination for sure! Prepare for small spaces, and you may have to wait a little while to get a seat, but it will be worth your while. All three of us can eat for $19, and that's even with getting some extra on the side! I heard about this little gem from a friend. We went on a Saturday around 9:30! They were busy so we had to wait about 10-15 minutes for a table. While it was busy on this day it was worth the wait and the food came out so quickly! You can't go wrong with the food! It was so yummy. My niece had the waffle! The price of the waffle was so worth it! $.95 for coffee? SOLD! Now, they were out of cinnamon rolls! Our waitress said that they called the baker in to make more. This just astonished me! Great place for an old fashioned traditional breakfast of classics and basics. Do not come here expecting some 4-5 star service and food, its not meant to be that kind of place and never was or will be. Its means for locals to come and become regulars and enjoy a basic breakfast and a great price. Yes its small and a little cramped but oh well, your not here for the night, just a meal, live with it. I came here with my parents as my final breakfast in the state of WI for many months as I leave for Seattle tomorrow for my new job out that way. My folks had been here before but this was my first. I got the steak omelet with hashbrowns and toast. Portions were good, food was tasty and the price was right. The servers are friendly and kind and they keep up very well for a busy place during breakfast hours. Coffee here is really good as well! So tasty, yet so noisy. The noise from all of the customers is the one detractor from the experience of visiting this wonderful eatery. It is also a *very good* indicator of its quality - the place is nearly always packed with patrons that are having fun, talking, laughing, and eating wonderful food. In fact, I actually once made a recording of the ambient noise of this restaurant, simply because it was a perfect example of a busy and vibrant restaurant...utensils and plates clinking, laughter, happy conversations, happy bellies. However, it can and does make communication around the table a bit difficult at times for those of us with less than perfect hearing. No matter - the food is amazing and well worth the minor pish-posh of annoyance that one may feel from the ambient noise. I would happily eat here every day of the year, if I could! read more
