Tons of vegetarian options. All of our choices were delicious. The highlight was the coconut tree leches cake. Cozy seating. Service was good and friendly. We found street parking easily. Beautiful weather and we appreciated all the open windows as we lean into springtime.

I tried to be adventurous, so I ordered their bison burger, and it was okay. The fries were good, so I think if I had ordered a regular burger, it would have been fine. The service was pretty good, and it was clean inside the restaurant. We will visit again. Parking can be a little tricky. You just have to find street parking, and it can be a bit challenging.

One of the best restaurants I've been to in Madison so far. Spectacular food, nice venue, friendly and helpful staff, cannot recommend more. As someone whose hometown is Buffalo, the wings were super phenomenal. The reuben bread especially was crispy and not soggy and the meat was good once I put some extra salt on it. Drink was solid as well. I also tried a bit of the layered chocolate cake and that was also really good. Fries were very crispy and salty, like professional potato chips. Everything was out of the park, definitely would go here again!

I've been to Alchemy on a couple of occasions and have so enjoyed our experiences here. I've come on a date on one occasion and with a group of five another time and it's great for both. On my first trip, I opted for a beer and on my second visit, I opted for a cocktail. It's nice that they have options for both but I do think they're beer options are more intriguing than their mixology. I love that they have wonderful vegetarian options. Most recently, I ordered their coconut curry, which was beautifully flavorful, dreamy dish and I enjoyed every bite. One of my dining companions ordered the same and we both were over the moon with our choice. The service was great. We stopped by on a busy Saturday evening and were able to be seated at a table outside. It was a lovely evening but a rain storm came it rather quickly. They were able to bustle us inside and get us a table, which was so nice. The atmosphere inside has comfy classic saloon vibes (though the food and drink is definitely elevated beyond your standard pub). Get to it!

We stopped in around 8 on a Saturday night and were able to get seated right away. The patio was super cute, but a little dark. Absolutely loved the hand cut fries and hand brined chicken on their boat sandwich. Bloody Mary was pretty good, as well as the stuffed grilled cheese. There was a large variety of menu items and all were super unique. Such a great place adding charm to willy street!

My first time after so many years living in Madison. So many people rave about this place and I can't believe I've waited this long. The wings. Must get the wings. The Gorgonzola on top was so good! We shared burgers: tinshack and zaremba. I've been looking for a burger with a green olive relish for so long and I finally found one (zaremba). Must get the sweet potato fries. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Love the outdoor seating option during the summer. Service was fantastic and food was just as good! I'm so glad I went. Excited to go back for specials and fish fry!

Love Alchemy! It's such a fun, casual spot. Service is always good and the food is delicious. My favorite thing to get is the Zaremba Burger!

One of my most favorite spots in Madison. Scratch cooking with a little flair! On this visit we were lucky enough to get one of the best seats next to the window. Our lovely server greeted us promptly & took our drink order. My Bloody Mary was flavorful & had plenty of garnish. To eat, I opted for the ultimate grilled cheese with a side of their pork chile verde. The sandwich was delectable, perfect amount of gooey cheese & crunchy veg. The soup/stew had a wonderful tanginess. We thoroughly enjoyed & can't wait to go back!

Cornmeal cod sandwich with side salad $17

Super cute outdoor seating, dogs welcome. Large tree umbrella covering seating too on a hot day. Seating inside as well but it was too nice outside for us to be inside. We got the cornmeal breaded cod sandwich with a side salad. $17. Two pieces of fish on a baguette. The fish itself was a tiny bit dry. Still very good, loved the sauce on the bread, lettuce and tomatoes. For the side salad, nice mustard type home made dressing, minimal coverage, fresh peas and broccoli. Happy we stopped when in the area.

Cod fish fry with brussel sprouts

I took out lunch from here on a Friday. I had to go around the block once to find parking. Cod fish fry was excellent. The seasonal side of brussel sprouts was excellent as well. My other entree was deluxe apple rum burger, with alchemy fries. That was really good as well. Some reviewers mentioned they are cash only. But now they take credit card as well.

I've been dying to get to Alchemy for their Wednesday night mac special and it did not disappoint! The sloppy joe mac was super good, amazing mac and cheese sauce and great flavors. I wish this dish came out hotter temperature wise. We split the Applerum burger, which was good, but the bun was mediocre. The sweet potato fries were outstanding - crispy and fresh from the kitchen! Our service was ok. I love the outdoor dining areas. Parking down the block was super easy. I wouldn't rush back, but if they have a good special mac, I'd go again!

I had dinner plans, so I just wanted to stop in for a drink and snack. They have some really good offers for HH and their cheese curds are half off. I had never had one, so it sounded like the perfect time to try. I got a glass of wine and the curds. They came out quickly, hot and fresh. It was a big bowl of fried cheese. They come with ranch and hot honey, and apparently they recently won best cheese curd at the cheese curd crawl. They were super tasty. Well seasoned, perfectly fried, and kind of chewy. I am not on the hot honey frenzy train, but I tried it and thought it paired well, just wasn't for me. The ranch was tasty though. Even the happy hour portion was hefty and I couldn't put down half. A little wine and cheese on a beautiful day, just makes for a good experience. They were making some pretty interesting cocktails behind the bar, and it is definitely worth coming back to try out their other options.

It makes me think that Madison is not a diverse food city. Differently story for a different day. IMHO, no self respecting brunch place should serve Tropicana orange juice. They should also have more specialty coffees. On this day, their waffle maker was broken. Seriously? A brunch place with one waffle maker? The server came to visit rarely and kept forgetting that we had asked for a drink. It was only when we asked the manager to get us the drink that it finally arrived. Having said all this, I will say that the building that houses this restaurant is nice. This one fact hides a lot of their shortcomings and we keep ending back here. My final comment is that if I were the chef at this place, I would not put my name on the menu, especially the pastry chef because I saw only one pastry on the menu: the cinnamon rolls. What a joke this place is!

The old bones are still showing, with exposed brick walls and the large open windows giving the place that "well, they sure don't build 'em like this anymore" kind of charm. Right smack in the middle of the main floor sits a big ol' bar, surrounded by bright lime-green accent chairs that somehow make perfect sense once you're sitting in one, bellying up to the aluminum topped bar. Tables are scattered throughout both floors, all are absolutely packed, and not a grumpy face in sight. Upstairs, the two-story layout gives the place a little extra breathing room and a touch of old-building grandeur. It's quirky without trying too hard, colorful without being fussy, and comfortable in that distinctly Midwestern way. Why not start with an Old Fashioned and those Wisconsin cheese curds--because apparently regular cheese wasn't doing enough heavy lifting. These little golden nuggets come out hot, crisp, and gloriously greasy, a little salty, a little oily, plenty cheesy, and best eaten while they're still hot enough to make you question your life choices. The Old Fashioned, well... bless its heart, it tried. It had all the usual suspects--whiskey, a little sweetness, an orange garnish, and a healthy dose of bitters--but somehow the bitters forgot to show up for work. It wasn't terrible, exactly. It just lacked that gruff Wisconsin attitude you'd hope for in an Old Fashioned. God Bless The Queen! The Queen is their wood-fired pizza that keeps things simple while teasing your taste buds with rich fresh flavor. The flavors are classic Italian comfort, with the tomato bringing a little tang, the mozzarella keeping things creamy, and the Parmesan adding that salty, nutty punch at the end. The basil gives it a fresh, herby lift, while the wood-fired crust brings that smoky, crispy edge that makes you want to pick up another slice before you've even finished the first. Loved it! Eating this pizza in an old bank feels like peak Wisconsin: keep the brick, add a bar, fire up a pizza oven, and throw some cheese curds at the situation. Somehow, it works. Cheers!

The sangria is strong but you won't know it until you stand up. We started with the cheese puppies and they had a fantastic pull to them. Some of the best version of cheese curds I've had in a while. My husband and I both had salads and the bowl was too small for the salad but it was a decent salad I do wish the cheese was sprinkled on top as it ended up going to the bottom of the bowl. For an entree I had steak frites. Fries were solid and the cooking of the steak was good with the charcoal but it didn't have much flavor. The chard on the side was also good considering I've never had it. For dessert we had the valentine special chocolate cake and again it was good but nothing super special. We didn't stick around the bar too long but enough to get a winning pull tab. I would come back for the bar tenders they seemed chill.

The menu is filled with elevated pub food, a few classics and then a few twists on those very classics. Come hinge, because the menu is carb-driven, so be ready to eat! To start, we went with the poutine, because why not! The fries were crispy, gravy was velvety and the curds were firm, yet melty enough for a good cheese pull! For our mains, we both went sandwiches. I went with the Celtic Burger, which is their standard burger with added caramel iced onion, whiskey bacon jam, Irish cheddar and a garlic aioli. The burger was good and cooked well, but it was less impressive than I expected given all the goods they added to it. While the aforementioned additions sound like a flavor bomb, it was still fairly one note in overall flavor. It was still tasty, but again, not as expected. My buddy went with the corned beef sandwich. He enjoyed it, no major issues! I did appreciate that exchanging fries with fried curds was an option, especially after loaded up on fries as a starter. The curds were well fried, pillowy and quite tasty. Perfect side for sure! In addition to the food, they are known for their bar offerings so you know we had to grab a few cocktails!
