It has been a while since I have been, but I have been thinking I'm overdue for dinner here. It really has a great atmosphere. Interior is pretty and the service is great...and the food, the food is delicious. They are the only place I know that makes lemon shrimp soup and it is so different and it is very tasty. I wish they were closer to me. Staff is very friendly and engaging. I spoke with one of the waiters about my Korean studies and he told me he had also studied some Korean. Visited this place on Friday after 2 years. Sad to see that quality of food has deteriorated greatly. Naan which served on table was dry and hard. Food of the buffet table was cold. Chicken curry items and biriyani items was doused in some favored water as my friend called - "kewra jal". I remember a this place for its spread of veg items and fresh dishes but now all the food seemed stale and cold. Never in my life I ate such sweet chillie chicken. Went to Cinnamon for lunch on the weekend. The food was delicious, service was excellent, and they were very accommodating with our one year old. They gave us a free appetizer to start. We had the black lentils which we all enjoyed. I also shared a vegetarian n. korma with my son- perfect intro to Indian flavors for him- sweet and creamy! I highly recommend! I've been hearing about Cinnamon for a long time, and finally my coworkers agreed to make it a lunch destination. There are so many positives: There was naan (table) and fried roti (buffet) for bread options, as well as multiple rices (chicken biryani, veg biryani, plain). There were similarly a large number of main dishes and 4 desserts! FOUR! All of my favorites were there! Waters were kept filled, buffet dishes were kept filled and fresh. The goat dish had mostly meat, only a couple of bones. That NEVER happens. I would say I can't ask for more, but I guess in comparing my numerous Indian restaurant experiences, I had a couple of thoughts in mind. Mainly, I feel like the flavors were generally a little bland, or just not as rich as other places. The gajar halwa was rather dry and the kheer seemed like it had chopped rice instead of whole grain, which was somewhat unusual. You really can not go wrong with anything you order. Expect some nice free appetizers while you wait for your food. Expect to take food home. We usually end up with extra meals for the next day. Another staple discovered here in Morris County since we've been coming to visit my sister from San Diego. Pros: Food here is really good and flavorful. I can vouch for the chicken tikka masala, curry goat, lamb vindaloo, and gulmar jalpari. The garlic naan and regular naan are a must to dip in the variety of sauces. My wife looks forward to getting take-out here when we visit. Con: Only gripe is that the vindaloo and the goat curry was a little salty the last time we got it but it's still delicious. Lots of options, some spicy and authentic, others a little more Indo-Chinese or American-Indian, but a good mix and plenty of food and space to eat and enjoy your food. There was a bit of rush in clearing the plates, but hopefully you're not here for the service. Affordable buffet with a huge variety of Indian food. I count about 40 differrent dishes. All your standard vegetarian and meat varieties are there. Chicken tikka masala, goat masala, vegetable curry, tandoori chicken. They also give a basket of hot-from-oven naan. My personal favorites are the tandoori chicken legs and kheer (yogurt rice dessert) For $12 a person this restaurant is a economic way to enjoy decent Indian food. Best part? I have been to this restaurant several times. The food is good but most of the dishes are spicy. It would be good if each dish had a sign noting if spicy because some people bring their kids too. Stopped in a few times for the lunch buffet & had a positive experience. the restaurant is in a busy strip mall and is pretty large. The service was solid and attentive. The buffet items were.kept hot and replenished. The Nan was good and hot. The variety was a nice mix. So both the veg and non veg colleagues had plenty to choose from. The apps or starters to me are the stand out dishes. They offer a couple of.desserts but I never seem to have room to taste them. What I love.most about this place is that it is big enough that you don't feel cramped. The tables are spaced nicely and you can have a conversation without having to raise your voice. Mixed feelings on my experience at Cinnamon. It wasn't excellent, it wasn't bad, it was just... okay. The food was good and pretty much on par with other Indian restaurants in the area. With that said, there is nothing that sets them apart from other restaurants. The food wasn't anything I'd necessarily crave or rave about. If you're looking for a fancy restaurant, Cinnamon is not the place for you. It is pretty casual. The decor looks kind of outdated and the menus could probably be spruced up a bit. The restaurant is fairly large and there's plenty of seating. Service was ok, not friendly nor warm by any means. But the waiter came around often enough. One thing I wasn't crazy about was having to box up our own leftovers at the end of the meal. The food was good. For appetizer, we ordered samosas. Surprisingly, it did not come with any chutney. It was pretty good though. I tried the chicken makani for dinner. My boyfriend ordered a lamb dish. Portion sizes were decent, we had a fair amount of leftovers. The presentation for our dinner was noteworthy though. Our meals came out in cute copper dishes that did a good job of keeping the food warm. Pricing seemed to be more on the expensive side. This place was so accommodating. I have about 4-5 intolerances and i was so grateful that they were able to make my dish work (Chicken Tikka Masala) for me. I literally thought I would have to order a salad and rice instead, and essentially be hungry. After we sang happy birthday to my friend (and forgot a lighter) the wait staff came out with a candle on a dessert and sang happy birthday to him. All three were delicious, big portions and full of flavor. Paired with naan and basmati rice three entrees was more than enough for four people. The service was very good and checked in regularly. Let me start by saying that I've never been a huge fan of Indian food. I've tried it a number of times and the aroma and taste have just never resonated with my palette (almost sound like a foodie there, don't I?). So when one of my wife's friends was visiting and my wife suggested Cinnamon, you can imagine my immediate dismay. Being a good sport, and because I committed to being more open minded about trying new foods (mostly to be a role model for my nitpicky kids), I agreed to give it a shot...and boy was I glad I did. When we arrived I decided to try whatever was recommended as long as it wasn't something I KNEW I wouldn't like (there are certain foods, like peas, that I actually have a physical aversion to). I tried a couple of the appetizers we ordered and they were very good...I mean hey, better than the ick I had previously tasted in my life, so we were off to a good start. We had the vegetable pakora and a couple of kabobs (can't go wrong there). For my entree, I went with a simple favorite, the chicken vindaloo (they must have though me a spice amateur...needed more), but I also tried the chicken tikka masala and the Gulnar jalpari...both were excellent. I'm not going to say that I LOVE Indian food after one great experience, but I will say that I'm no longer averse to the suggestion of going to an Indian restaurant. I stopped into Cinnamon with a few coworkers for lunch. Their lunch buffet is perfect if you want to sample a lot of different Northern Indian cuisines. The spice level is medium and is manageable. The buffet costs about $12 per person. The buffet is laid out on a long table which starts with salad and vegetables then moves on to the chicken and meats. The chicken tikka and chicken tikka masala were wonderful. The dry rub spices on the chicken tikka had the most kick out of everything served. The lamb vindaloo was savory and the meat was tender. Similar to a lamb stew. Watch out for bones on the lamb though. The palak paneer was creamy nice and creamy. This is a spinach (palak) based dish with cottage cheese blocks (paneer), similar to a spinach dip. You can use the naan bread to sop up the palak paneer too. I would also recommend getting a mango lassi, which is a yogurt based drink similar to a smoothie. It definitely helps balance out the heat if you need it. My favorite part was the desserts too. The gulab jamun is a hot fried dough ball (like a munchkin) deeply soaked in syrup. Gajar halwa is a grated carrot dish that is not too sweet. This was good but can be filling after eating a few plates at the buffet. Service was nice and provided our table with a lot of attention even though there was a large office party next to us. read more

Cinnamon is fantastic. I've been here for both the lunch buffet and dinner. The lunch buffet is huge - wide variety of vegetarian and meat dishes. The curry chicken is especially good. I also love that they have 4 desserts to choose from. You really can't beat it for $11 a person. This is the first time I've had Indian in a few years after a bad curry experience in NYC. I finally decided to go when I wanted to try something new and heard some fantastic stuff about the place. After we sat down we got up for their lunch buffet, I really wanted to try a little bit of everything to see what I liked. Please excuse my lack of food jargons here but I'll write my review based on my first try on Indian food. While I don't know what authentic Indian food is like, I enjoy the food that they offered here. When you first sit down, they give you a basket of thin crispy chip bread (LOL @ "chip bread") with three different type of sauces, apricot, green spicy smush something, and tangy sweet brown sauce. It is really good. I was impressed. Then I ordered the chicken korma because it said cashews and I like cashews and some crispy chicken " pekora". The pekora was okay, it tasted like fried chicken with no seasoning and kind of bland. I was disappointed since the name sounded so interesting. Next came the chicken korma with cashew cream sauce. I'm not sure how to explain this but it tasted more cream than cashew and it wasn't seasoned that well at all. I guess I expect the but flavor to come out a bit more (maybe even a hint of sweetness?) But all I tasted was heavy cream with pepper on cooked chicken. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I dipped my bland garlic naan into my bland korma mixed with bland rice and just felt empty inside. I heard so much good things about this place and was prepared to be blown away, but it felt like a squeaky weak fart instead. For a completely clueless Indian food foodie, that's all I can say. On the other hand, the service here was great. The waiter is so nice and attentive. We give it a five star for service. Maybe I'll try here again next time when I am more experienced in Indian food. read more

Cinnamon, you spice up my life! In all seriousness, this is a SOLID north Indian restaurants that executes all the usual suspects really well. Their menu is extensive but my sister and I always order the chicken tikka masala (so basic, I know...) and the saag paneer. The rice is always steaming hot and fresh and the garlic naan - wow. Holy pillows of soft garlicky buttery goodness. The proprietors are warm and welcoming and the food is delicious. Apparently there is a lunch buffet, which I have not had the opportunity to try yet. I will say that I have been surprised at how empty the restaurant can be on a Thursday night - a more bustling crowd would give it more life and a better vibe... I have pretty high standards for dining at Indian restaurants now based on past experiences. I've dined at this particular restaurant a few times for buffet and a la carte. I liked their buffet options - good for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. My decision is split for a la carte dining because my first experience was bad. We ordered this Kashmiri rice and it was so disappointing and bland. I guess I expected good food. That was a year ago. Today we went for early dinner and my experience was a lot better. We didn't go for the buffet but enjoyed the a la carte entrees we ordered. We ordered a bread basket which had onion kulcha (flat bread stuffed with onions and spices), plain naan, and paratha. We ate the breads with Sarson Ka Saag and Vegetable Jalfrezi. It was surprisingly good; very flavorful. We requested that the dishes be cooked at medium level "hotness" or spice level and we were quite pleased. The curries weren't overly spicy or bland. Lastly, I was happy and satisfied with the service and politeness. The wait staff came to our table a couple of times to ask us how the food was and were helpful. This was something new for us since we find that most Indian restaurants are prejudicial against Indian customers. I was pleased to be treated like all the other diners at the restaurant. I would definitely dine here again. Whatever they improved from my previous experiences, they did a good job. Hope it continues. read more

Yum!! I love this place, but that's probably because I also love Indian food. I'd been searching for a good, reasonably priced Indian food place since I graduated from college and this is my new go-to spot. The lunch buffet is awesome. They serve a few different types of chicken, a few vegetable dishes, a goat dish, many different chutneys, rice, battered veggies, tandoori, everything! They always have gulab jamun (little round pastries soaking in honey syrup) and kheer (rice pudding) and sometimes they have a few other dessert choices (like fruit). The waiter brings fresh naan for the table. The buffet ends up costing around $12-$13 per person, including tip and tax. If you come here for non-buffet food, it's great too. The dishes come out in these small buckets and I always think to myself, "these portions are too small!" HOWEVER, once you start eating, you find that the portions are perfect and I always have leftovers. All sauce-y dishes come with rice. The naan is really fluffy and delicious (I recommend the garlic naan). read more
