Denville needed a good Indian restaurant and when I mentioned that to my wife, she sent me here. She has been doing take out and taking it to a friend who was unable to travel. We do take out now at least once a month and the food simply rocks. Not too spicy. The ingredients always taste fresh. The variety, e.g., veggie is impressive. The now have a lunch buffet and later when I did lunch takeout I checked the offerings. Again, impressive and offered at a surprising (read bargain) price. Like Indian fare? One of my favorite restaurants. The food is delicious, owner and staff friendly, and ambiance lovely.

Food is great but I still can't stand the fact that there is a four percent credit card fee and then an eighteen percent service charge after the taxes etc. Ending up paying 22 percent extra on dishes that have been raised from about sixteen dollars to twenty three dollars. I get it. Groceries and produce are costing a little extra. Unfortunately, my paycheck is not going up. It is a great place and the owner is very nice. I just wish they would get rid of the Service charge because that should be my choice between 15 percent and 25 percent. read more

Wow. It was real bad. Tandori chicken tasted like it was dyed in red and boiled. Zero flavor. Made me think if I had worse tasting tandori chicken before and the answe was "No". Really solid food, served by a staff that cares. If you're not up for taking the trip east to Lake Hiawatha, Caffe Delhi should hit the right flavors and leave you looking forward to the leftovers. I started with the fish curry. When I ordered on the phone, they offered me a selection of salmon or tilapia (which isn't mentioned on the online portals) and let me clarify that I wanted mild-medium spice (the online portals have just 3 levels), both of which were nice value-adds. More recently I sampled the chicken makhani, which was made with dark meat and tasted a smidge more of butter than previous places I've tried. The garlic naan, while a bit limp after the journey home, oozed of roasted garlic flavor and brought a pleasant counterpoint to the makhani and curry flavors. I find Caffe Delhi a bit better than Indian Aroma in Rockaway and will certainly keep it in rotation. read more

We went to this place for lunch during the week. We ordered garlic naan, chicken chili (which was a gravy-like curry), saag paneer, vegetable pakora, and onion bhaji. The chicken chili and saag paneer were served with rice. The vegetable pakora and onion bhaji were served with tamarind sauce. They were all tasty. The restaurant was clean and quiet during the time we dined there. The dishes were brought out in a timely manner. We've also ordered takeout from them in the past, which include bhel puri and samosa chaat. They were both pretty good. I look forward to dining in / or getting takeout from here again so I can try new dishes. read more

It was good and the food was tasty enough (although very mild in spice but I understand why that is for several reasons such as cost and to appeal to the greatest amount of people possible) I did find it to be a little bit pricey though. I realize the world is a more expensive place since Covid but. $24 and change for a lunch is a bit too pricey for my blood. Curry was flavorful - my mom had the butter chicken and said not much flavor in that one. The naan breads were very tasty. The service was decent and place was empty when we dined. When it comes to Indian cuisine I would be considered a "Rookie". This is only my second time at an Indian restaurant, my first experience was good. So my expectations were high for this place. There are some good reviews and our friends that we met with here (we were 8) spoke highly of the food. The restaurant is located at a strip mall and parking is readily available. Our party were the only ones there for dine in, but there were a lot of going's on with take out orders. I'm not going to go into each individual meal that was ordered this night, but can say that everything we had from appetizers to the meals were absolutely delicious. The basmati rice cooked and seasoned to perfection and the naan bread ohhh soo good. Best of all when I checked in I got an $8 coupon good for lunch. Last night I treated myself to the saag paneer and garlic Naan and have to say this place makes the best saag paneer that I have ever eaten. What I can not understand is how can this owner chef make a saag panner that is really so much better than the saag paneer I eat at all the other Indian Restaurants. I just know he does! The garlic Naan was perfect! My girl friend loves his Butter Chicken and says to only get it from Cafe Dehli from now on! All I can say is "if you love Indian Food and have never been to this place , get over there and find out for yourself, how special this place is. We have been coming here for a few years. Recently new owners took over and redecorated the restaurant. Tonight (a Friday) we finally got an opportunity to try it. The food was excellent. We started with Onion Bhajia, which were tastefully seasoned and fresh. We ordered Chicken Negosi (a creamy coconut sauce) and saag paneer. We also ordered Garlic Naan. (Hot from the oven and very garlicky) The spice levels came in as we asked and were great. We have leftovers and are thrilled. The services was terrific. The new owner also checked on us to see how everything was. For a Friday night they seemed to do some take out but only had a few tables busy. I don't know why, the food was terrific. With a busy weekend, who has time to cook. Tonight I headed to Caffe Delhi for some takeout. While the dinning room is open, I opted for takeout to savor the food in the comforts of my own home. To start, I've never tried Garam Shorbe (soup) from an Indian Restaurant so I tried something new. I went with the Spinach and Chicken soup which is a creation made with garden fresh chopped spinach, marinated chopped chicken and a touch of mild seasoning. I must say it was tasty and I regret not trying it sooner. Also ordered the Kabuli Naan which is traditional Punjabi soft white bread stuffed with chick peas and onions, then cooked in the Tandoor. For the main course, ordered the Chicken Tikka Dry which is pieces of white meat chicken flavored with spices & broiled in the Tandoor. Any meal you order is cooked fresh and can be dialed down if you like food mild, cooked middle of the road, or they can pack in some heat if you like it spicy. I prefer spicy and it always hits the spot. Take out was a good 50 minute wait, but well worth it. There was a steady stream of customers which assure me the food was fresh. Meal size was large with plenty of leftovers for another meal during the week. Just want to remind everyone of yet another fine dinning establishment should you ever want to change an ordinary meal into something extraordinary. read more

Abrasive in replies and forcing his point of view alone. Irritable and angry tone all the time. What is going on man?!! When we requested a sweet chutney to reduce the extra-sourness of the papdi chaat, he came and talked me down saying that they do not have any sweet tastes per their recipe for chaat. A surprise! Every chaat has three key ingredients: Sour. Spice, Sweet. And other Asian powdered masalas to give the chaat a low-spicy-low-sweet taste. It seemed like he only interested in taking our money for the bill, but was not interested in giving....what we wanted as a paying-customer: The correct taste for a chaat. (-) 0/10 We waited for our bill. We paid. We collected our take-out bag. In all those several minutes, the owner did not come back to meet us and explain his point of view for the reasons of his aggressive attitude. Yes, he was back there in the kitchen and was most likely busy with other orders. But a walk back to our table, the clearly upset customers, would've shown his "need" to get us back a 100 times so we could support his restaurant with more business in years forward. This $27 bill x 100 could surely mean something in these tough times for the food business. And bring my company's team of 20-25 people to try his food. But that future-view of what a customer really brings to the future of his tables, was clearly missing in him. A pity, really. (+) 10/10 However, that said as above, when I called back the owner after 45 minutes upon reaching home, I fully credit him for apologising for not meeting us on our way of the restaurant to explain his point of view. He asked us to return one day and try other dishes. My response to that, as of 24 hours later on this Monday evening: I have spoken of yesterdays' poor experience with my AI software team at work. Ownership changed mid-January... this used to be our favorite restaurant, but after getting take out today we noticed the portions for some items were cut in half, we got the wrong samosas (gave us meat instead of veg), there was a pretty big bone in one of the chicken pieces, and the makhani tastes totally different. I will say though that this is the first week under new ownership so maybe they have some kinks to work out. I rated 3 stars instead of 2 considering how recent the changeover was. I really hope they go back to the way things were previously... owner said they're renovating in Feb so maybe we'll try it again after that. read more

I have loved Caffe Delhi since they opened and I hadn't been there in a while but I had a hankering for some Indian food. Ordered the paneer tikka masala and the chicken korma. Absolutely delicious! I forgot to order a side of raita and called back and they included it with the order. The naan and aloo paratha was delicious as well!! Have enjoyed food from this restaurant in the past, both dine in and takeout. Came for dinner (party of 4) tonight and was disappointed. It's a Wednesday night and we were the only table there when we arrived. Service was very slow, we ordered our food "medium" and it was very mild. My son ordered chicken nuggets off the kids menu, and it was 8 frozen nuggets (they charge $17 for nuggets and fries) straight from the bag. There was a "convenience fee" for nearly $5, and then a 20% gratuity added on (even on the convenience fee - so that fee ends up being closer to $7.50). The prices were listed nowhere on the menu; and when I looked online to check I saw that they charged us more than the online pricing. I hate to nit pick, and will gladly pay good money for great food and service. They also charge an extra fee (nearly $5) if you use a credit card. I paid with cash and asked them to remove this other fee. This nickel and dime-ing leaves a bad taste in my mouth - this used to be a solid local neighborhood option. For $150+ for 2 adults and 2 kids, go somewhere more upscale. read more

Now I've moved away to California and I miss this food! There are Indian restaurants out here but there was something delicious about this one. If I'm ever in the area again, I will come back! Authentic great food! Curry Goat portion was superb! I'm a 6"4 male and the Goat Curry entree served me two meals. The vegetarian appetizer for 2 is so nice and perfect if you want a taste of everything for $9.99.
