The best thing was the cauliflower, omg I almost died eating that; the onions were good but oily and the other veggies were average); tandoori chicken (super tender; really good but I think the chicken at Gateway to India was better); chicken tikka; grilled vegetables (some of the veggies were way burnt so inedible, the veggies that were were alright); lamb (eh, it was good but not what I was expecting); dal makhani (black lentils in a sauce; I loved this; the spices were really good and I think this with rice would have been perfect); biryani (not bad but the rice at Delhi Palace in Teaneck was better); naan; garlic naan (super good!!!); palak paneer; kheer (yum!! Great place for lunch. They have an excellent selection with a ton of different chicken dishes. Last time I went I really thought I was going to die, but that's because I am terrible with buffets (I turn into a dumb animal). The staff is nice and attentive without getting in the way. Love the lunch price during the week (I think it was $10). My coworkers (those not completely closed off to non-Italian or non-Mexican) really like this place, too. Took the family here for the first time. Place was empty but that's to be expected on a Monday night. They waited on us hand and foot and the food was hot and absolutely delicious. We had a tomato soup appetizer, potato and pea dumpling appetizer, and some chicken and lamb entrees. We also ordered some Na'an bread, which was hot and soft and very tasty - they make it on the premises. The service was terrific (again, we were really the only ones there until another group of diners walked in toward the end of our meal). I must also mention that the gentlman host was super nice and patient enough to hear us describe our likes and dislikes and then recommend some dishes accordingly. So we are definitely going back. They have a Sunday night buffet that I know from neighbors is very popular. The only negative I would say about this place is a lack of ambience --- some might care about that but I don't when it comes to family dining. read more

Salads, fresh & crispy with the right amount of dressing, vegetarian options, pakora, tandoori, 2 biryani choices, chicken tikka masala, saag, goat, dals, sweets, etc. Everything is seasoned well. Hot food is hot, cold food is cold. that's hard to do on a buffet. I wish there were more spicy dishes but that's just me. $13.00 plus naan on the table. Sometimes, you dine at a restaurant and the stellar experience leaves you absolutely stunned. This was one of those times. Everything from the aesthetics to the service was top notch. The place is absolutely beautiful-- walls painted with bright orange red and yellow and decorated with wooden slices. But enough with the superficial. They start you off with some crunchy papadum and three delicious sauces. The chutney is a rich dark Green, which suggests that the place does NOT water their condiments down. There was a tasty home made marmalade and a dark sweet spicy sauce that resembled imli sauce. But I digress. We ordered two appetizers. The crab Masala was unique even to an experienced fan of Indian cuisine like myself. It was the perfect blend of salty and spicy and was riddled with finely diced onions and cilantro. The lamb seek was some of the best I've ever tasted. It was succulent and brilliantly seasoned. We wiped the two dishes clean in no time. I also tried the Masala tea-- it tasted pretty authenthic to me. Creamy latte with a strong hint of spice. Then came the entrees. The chicken makni was sweet, creamy and perfectly seasoned with an assortment of spices. The lamb vindaloo was a thick curry containing cashews and plenty of diced vegetables. The goat biriyani (rice dish) had plenty of meat...the flavor of which had soaked into the rice perfectly. They also served some plain basmati rice with cinnamon stalk. The naan platter included garlic naan and some tasty paratha. The portions weren't huge but they were enough to satiate the 6 of us to satisfaction. Let me also say that the service was wonderful. The wait staff continued to refill our waters and asked us if everything was to our liking. We were traveling when we ate here but I guarantee I will return if I am ever in this area again. Went there for the first time this weekend. I only ate at one other Indian restaurant prior to this and I had a bad experience, so I wasnt sure what to expect, but this place pleasantly surprised me. I was extremely excited when they brought out of basket of what looked like flat bread/crackers and found it was gluten free - the worst thing about dining out when your gluten free is when your first arrive and are starving to death they bring out a basket of bread that you cannot touch. This bread was made out of lentil flower so it was completely gluten free. They also brought us a bunch of dips for the bread. I ordered a lamb dish and my friend orderd the chicken curry - both were delicious and they gave a large amount of rice to go with it. Definitely a great experience and I will be visiting again soon. read more

My favorite Indian restaurant in north New Jersey. This restaurant is located on the route 10 around 8 miles west of East Hanover or 26 miles from Newark international airport. I think the price for the buffet is around $11 which is extremely inexpensive for such delicious food. There are a variety of starters such as Paapri chaat and other deep fried delicacies. There are normally at least two types of rice and 4-5 Currys including chicken, goat and vegetable dishes. There always gulab jaman and ras malai for dessert. Have been here several times for their buffet lunch ($10.95) which offers a nice variety and is usually hot and tasty. Glad they now label all of their dishes. I am a vegetarian and have pretty much tried all veggie items from their menu and all of them are good. My personal fav is Kadai Cholley, Sarson Ka Saag, Baigan Bharta, Saag Paneer, and Paneer Kadai/Tikka Masala. Their food quantity is also pretty good. Order 1 entree and 2 people can easily eat. The only thing I would want them to improve is their Tandoori Roti because its little thick. I have been to other restaurants and their Roti is usually thin. Other than this no complains. read more

Not to brag but I've pretty much tried Indian restaurants all over the world - its one of my favourite cuisines. Well, Cinnamon is right up there with the best! The staff are so friendly and helpful, the restaurant is spacious and clean and the food was just outstanding. We were a large party of 8 and all ordered something different to share. There was not one negative comment from any of us. We had a mix of chicken, lamb, vegetable curry - you name it. The naan and roti are good too as was the generous portions of rice and pompadoms. It's a BYO so be prepared, but the staff still attentively served us our own wine. I also have a fondness for restaurants that constantly top up the water glasses - a must-do when drinking red wine. I loved their Garlic Naan! We used a coupon and there were no awkward moments (sometimes service can alter slightly when using a coupon). I pointed out that closing time on their website is 2:30 pm, but they still seemed to think I was late and acted as if they were doing me a favor. Had the Sunday dinner buffet with my wife. We both found all the food to be excellent.

I went here for lunch one day with my sister because we had a coupon. Hearing our friends rave about this restaurant, we really wanted to go after sampling Chang Palace. We were seated immediately and went to the buffet. The food was very spicy for me, but it still had very good flavor. The one perk here that I like is that it is not a full vegetarian buffet. During the meal, our water was always refilled and the service was attentive. I still would choose Chand Palace since I love their dosa so much. read more
