It's fine. It's kinda nice to have a local, non-chain place to get ice cream in the summer, but their menu is very limited, the soft serve has that chemical, slippery, mediocre-quality mouth feel, it gets incredibly crowded, and is pretty expensive for what you get. I would imagine it probably has a lot of people who love it because they grew up coming here but the soft serve falls between nothing special to kind of bleh for someone from outside the area. There is no hard ice cream which I prefer, only the soft serve, and you really only have the choice of vanilla, chocolate, and swirl, with some other random artificial flavor options and snow balls, etc. Then toppings like fudge, strawberry flavor, and the like. I believe they can do chocolate dipped. They also have root beer floats and milkshakes. It is very very old fashioned in scope and offerings though so my parents love to go there when they visit. If for nothing else I don't like the fact that the limited options at Cindy's gives me little reason to return. read more

My friend's favorite soft serve place of all time is a place called Jimmy's in New Jersey (which I will admit is pretty damn good soft serve), and Cindy's is the closest thing we've found in this area. The soft serve portions are generous and they are just as generous with the sprinkles. Prices are reasonable, employees are friendly enough, and service is fast. I had been hearing about Cindy's Soft Serve & Snowballs for years ever since moving to Catonsville. We have two excellent snowball and soft serve stands right in Catonsville so I never tried Cindy's. However we were out and about yesterday and we decided to stop and try it. First impression - the place is cute and retro, it has a great vibe. Lots of parking. Some seating in the shade of trees behind the building. I got a Pink Lemonade Snowball with Marshmallow. It wasn't great, sorry. The menu says they put marshmallow in the top AND bottom but I had very little marshmallow on top and I never found the marshmallow in the bottom. Also the pink lemonade flavor was very watered down. And there were huge chunks of solid ice in my cup. I don't plan to order another snowball here. The snowball stands right in Catonsville are WAY BETTER than Cindy's. My partner got a Dreamsicle Snowcream (combination of a snowball with soft serve) and I tasted it and it was actually yummy. I may try this place again but I will get soft serve only. They don't do justice to the snowballs and they aren't that cheap that they should skimp on the marshmallow and the syrup. Sorry Cindy but I had to say it! read more

I've got to admit, one reason I went to Sushi Q tonight was so I could try Cindy's afterward. I had seen the line on a previous visit. but it was a bit chilly that day for me do do a cold dessert. But a local business with a long line and a weathered exterior that suggests they've been there for quite a while goes straight to the to-try list. I was not disappointed. The ice cream was thick and smooth, and brought back memories of the days when it was allowed to be called frozen custard. I have no clue what the people whining about the service were thinking. Yes, it was more efficient than warm, but people were waiting, and in a seasonal business you just have to do as much volume as you can while you can. Best soft serve place in the area! The soft serve is rich, creamy, and draws a long line on hot summer days and nights- it's no wonder they've been in business for over 20 years! The kiddie size is the perfect amount without making you feel too guilty afterwards. Don't be fooled by the sizing displayed at the front. They usually give much more than what you see in the display. Prices are great too. The dipped kiddie cone is only costs $2. Also worth noting is that they take credit cards and have no minimums, unlike other soft serve places in Howard County. This is my favorite spot to stop at after sushi at Sushi Q across the street, another place I highly recommend. read more

The establishment is just a walk up window, but anyone can find something to enjoy. Always a great place to go. I try to go a few times throughout the season. Nicely priced cold treats. I always get the flavor burst ice cream, usually banana ripple or tropical orange. I also usually get a waffle bowl but it's always a lot and I get full quickly. Today I got a small waffle cone and almost couldn't finish it. Great portion sizes of ice cream. Got my son his own kiddie cup this round and he still wanted mine. My husband usually gets a shake. I have yet to try the snowball but I know when I do I'll be pleased. Let it be known that this should really be a 2 1/2 star rating to be most accurate. "A-ok" product, "meh, I've had better service". I'm usually not a big fan of soft serve because I find that it can taste too sugary and well, boring. This place actually makes really good soft serve. It's thick, creamy, not too sweet, and they give you lots of it! The service is a bit... how shall I say... it wasn't outright rude, but they don't particularly give off welcoming vibes either. Just sort of a blank stare from the older gentleman at the register - no "hi, hello, can I help you, what can I get you". We order, he gives us the total, and tenders the change without so much as a smile or a "thank you" (seemed friendlier serving other patrons before and after us though). The young girl who handed us our cones was the same. When she called it out, I stepped over to take them from her, smiled warmly, and said thank you. She says nothing. It was a perplexing experience. A couple minutes into enjoying my soft serve, I noticed she had given me a waffle cone that was cracked the length of the entire cone. No wonder it was wrapped in more napkins than J's cone. I had the pleasure of treating my niece and nephew to Cindy's ice cream last Saturday evening in Elkridge and I had their ice cream for the first time. It was delicious. I must say the servings are huge. The medium was more like a large. It was awesome and it happens that the line was not long. From my understanding the line is normally very long. On Tuesday evening while out with my sister and niece, I treated them and myself with ice cream cones. I had a large chocolate cone and it was humongous and delish. It is a good thing I was visiting and headed back home Tuesday because I would have visited at least twice more. When I visit Elkridge again I will visit Cindy's. Thumbs up all the way. read more
