I couldn't help comparing them to the cones I grew up with--back then the soft serve was sturdier and the chocolate dip had that satisfying hard shell. Came here for a good old Bmore snowball. Tastee Zone has an impressive selection of flavors and toppings, if you care to indulge. They also have soft serve ice cream, which is a win-win in the land of sweet treats on a hot day. I got my favorite flavor combo: egg custard and cold duck! We also got a chocolate/vanilla swirl soft serve cone as well. The snowball was so good with flavors that bursted in my mouth along with that finely churned ice that melts on the tongue. The soft serve ice cream had a nice creamy consistency and the flavors were spot on. You know you have to be careful with some soft serve as they can be grainy and lack basic flavor. Mediocre soft serve counter that seems like an absolute Opie's rip. The difference between the two locations, which are within two minute walking distance, is that Tastee Zone's ice cream is dull and their snowballs taste syrupy, whilst their competitor has local charm and amazing shaved ice. Opie's may have fewer choices, but the quality of the menu items is astronomically better. Bottom line: just go to Opie's. It'll impress you much more. read more

This place is fine. The soft serve options are vanilla, orange, chocolate, or a twist. The ice cream is a little less creamy than I like, but it's not terrible, especially with some toppings. I'm not a huge shaved ice person, but a lot of people were ordering and there's a huge selection, so it's probably decent here. They also have options to mix with the soft serve or other dairy options. The worker inside was fast and friendly and the prices cheap. Overall not bad. read more

Friendly staff. Ice cream was soft and creamy. Looks like the normal ice cream shack I used to love getting ice cream from. It had that boardwalk look and feel. Peanuts were stale and had that old oily, sharp taste. The cake cone was stale and had that smell, too; or this could be the after taste that carried over from the peanuts. It lingered in my mouth. I'm not normally a ice cream lover, I have my favorite (German chocolate cake ice cream) but don't normally deviate. Let's just say I now have a second favorite, yummy. I enjoyed the peanut butter and chocolate milkshake, hubby devoured the swirl ice cream chocolate cookie sandwich and babygirl slurpped down the banana snow cone. We took advantage of the picnic table out front, enjoyed the gleeful exciting atmosphere as everybody ordered, the great weather and the best way to close out a Friday night!! Best snowballs ever! This places has tons of amazing flavors for snowball options and also a list of other great things such as ice cream, brownie sundaes, gelato, etc. I've notice that they are very popular and that's great especially during COVID-19 lines were very long but they do practice the safe distancing and all safety measures. Great for date night, family time, for kids and everyone one of that sort. Very friendly staff. They also have picnic tables but during this time they have been put up for safety. read more

I originally was looking for Opie's but I found this snowball stand first. The Most exciting thing about this snowball stand was that it accepted credit/bank cards and that is very rare at any snowball stand. Everyone there was super friendly, including the customers. It was an enjoyable experience. I had a Pineapple snowball with marshmallows. I normally get Sour apple but I did not see that on the menu. read more

Perfect way to cool down on a hot summer day! This little shop has tons of snow cone flavors, including diet flavors, kid flavors (superhero, cartoon, etc). You could always add a tastee top to your frozen ice, which is a yummy custard that isn't too rich. The ice here is pretty fine, it's the kind where you don't necessarily have to chew the ice to down it. HAHA. The location was a bit strange. There was another snow cone/ice cream shop across from it along with a gelato/coffee cafe as a neighboring business. I never realized how great Tastee Zone was until I started trying other snowball stands. Chunks of grainy, flavorless ice and a lack of variety drove me back. Now I won't get snowballs anywhere else! You can get both snowballs and soft-serve ice cream here, but the real genius is combining the two. The ice lightens the rich, creamy custard, and the ice cream keeps the snowball from getting so cold it numbs your tongue. Even their small size is filling and satisfying, and I'm never tired of trying new combinations (vanilla+amaretto and chocolate+blood orange are two of my favorites.) All of their staff members are friendly, efficient and helpful, a rarity for that age group. As others have noted, there isn't much room to sit, and the view is a decidedly un-scenic parking lot. But we always get ours to go, anyway, as my parents live just a couple of blocks away and the neighborhood is awfully cute. Bonus: they have a loyalty card, so after buying 10 snowballs you get one free! They are clearly not hurting for business, so I appreciate that they do this just for their customers. read more

I'm not a veteran eater of snowballs, but of the few I've had, this was by far the best. Snowballs are available in an insanely wide variety of flavors, from bubblegum to blood orange, and any flavors can be combined. Some of the syrup selections are really unusual, too. If for some reason you have a craving for a rootbeer/guava snowball, the friendly staff would be happy to accommodate you. They also have a separate flavor list for kids which is based on popular characters... I think they are flavor blends that relate to the characters' signature colors (like Superman = cherry + blue raspberry, etc.) I wouldn't dare try something that was 'Spongebob' flavored, personally. I thought the prices were reasonable, and my medium Tastee Top was a very generous portion with a perfect amount of syrup: Flavored all the way through but not too soupy. They also have quite good soft serve, as well as a variety of shakes, sundaes and variations on the same. I would recommend Tastee Zone for a summer evening treat, but beware that there did not seem to be a whole lot of seating or parking available. read more
