Finally made it to the Cinder Bar on a sunny Memorial Day and came away pleased with the experience. It was a perfect day to sit outside to enjoy an early dinner (Happy hour prices were in place so that a bonus!). Service was good and we were made to feel welcome as we walked in. The outdoor patio was ideal for our "late lunch/early dinner." The pierogi's were fluffy perfection enhanced by the caramelized onions. My LEMON PEPPER CHICKEN SANDWICH was delicious and the chicken cooked perfectly. My partner's 'Summer Dew' salad was really good. It's obvious why the Cinder Bar is so popular, it's worth the stop!!

The Philly Dilly Pizza

This is our go to place when visiting back home! It's always super busy so you have to make sure you go at a good time. There's always a game playing and the place gets a bit loud but it's such a fun atmosphere! The menu is pretty big so you definitely have to take some time to look it over! Also, the dishes come out as they are ready so don't expect to get your food all at once. Over the past few times we've went we have ordered the Philly Dilly pizza, chilaquiles borrachos, cannoli stuffed French toast and the Nutella crepes. The Philly Dilly is our MUST every time we visit! We love the crust on the pizza because it's cooked in the wood burning oven which gives it a unique taste. The flavors of the pickles and the sauce go so good! The Chilaquiles is HUGE! We shared it and still couldn't finish it! The flavors all melted together so well! The salsa was delicious! The cannoli French toast and the crepes were also very good but we prefer the chilaquiles over both of them. If you like a sweeter brunch then definitely go for the French toast and the crepes! We've tried other small plates as well such as the pierogies, the bada bang shrimp, ricotta meatballs, and steamed edamame; all of those were excellent too! We will most definitely be back on our next trip to Jersey!

I've been here a couple of times when I'm in the area for work. Always around lunch time so it's not busy and the service is good. The ambiance is like an American bar and restaurant. It's clean and nice. The food is consistently very tasty. I just recently tried the bang bang shrimp salad and substituted some rice in. I love coming here for lunch!

Food was so yummy! Service was great! Drinks were the best as always! Highly recommend to come more than once because it's hard to make one choice. Food comes out as it's ready!

Made the mistake of giving this location another chance by doing a To-Go order... haven't gone since I had some negative experiences. My friend used to work at the Sickerville one so she picked Cinder Bar and volunteered to pick it up. Then they messed up our order twice at one pick up. Second time our order was handed to my friend, we didn't get the truffle fries that are extra $$. Vegan cheesesteak had less "meat" than normally. Waited about 30 minutes after our pick up order window for it to still be incorrect. I ordered the regular cheesesteak with no onion and there are bits of red and green on the sandwich.. Had to leave due to a time constraint instead of waiting for them to fix it again. Go somewhere else... and apparently the other location is better but take that with a grain of salt.

Racist manager in a green shirt

The most racist place I've been in a while. The manager confronted ME after there were racist patrons telling me to go back to my country and get off the government system! Food was meh. Drinks were weak. Service was slow and they never clean the counters or tables.

Love this place for happy hour! I have been a million times and I'll continue to come. The service is always quick and friendly. They have a ton of tables and bar space. The blood orange margarita is consistently great. The margherita pizza is a staple, along with the cheesesteak egg rolls. This time, I tried the short rib poutine and I absolutely loved it. The meat was juicy and flavorful. The fries were thin and crispy. There was so much cheese! 10/10. Will definitely become a regular purchase for me.

Way too expensive for the food and experience…read more Yes I went there for Easter. Yes it was a holiday menu. Are you serious that chicken fingers and fries were $20.99? On the kids menu? This place does not serve exceptional food. It's not a Michelin star stop. It's a typical Italian style place with a good view who apparently hates beer and thinks their food is far better than it actually is. The pricing is insane. Actually, worse than that, screw these people. That's how pissed they made me. My rib eye wasn't even rendered properly with lots of connective tissue and thick hard fat. My kid's salad was drenched in dressing he didn't like despite us ordering it on the side. The $25 shrimp cocktail was literally 4 unseasoned shrimp. The $20 calamari app was half fried pepper rings. Everything was double what it should have cost. Are these morons serious with their prices? I can't believe this horrible place is still in business. It's insulting. Almost like they are trying to keep out the riff raff. I hate them for that. If you are going to have prices like this, you better serve perfect food. I seriously will never give them another chance. They don't deserve it. Who do they think they are?

We've been to Departure multiple times and enjoyed the experiences…read more Our first time was a larger group of 8. Minimal feedback. With a large group, it's important to upsell. If there's 8 people, and we order 2 orders of a dish that has a quantity of two pieces in the dish, tell us it has two pieces in it. We would order more at the time. Yes we could have ordered more when it arrives, but let us know, so we can make that decision in realtime which affects our entire order. Staff: Wonderful wonderful! As a restaurant working alum, I see all the hard work that everyone is doing. The small things that make a difference, to larger gestures. The hostesses having table wedges if a table is wobbly. A manager walking around greeting people and asking about their experience. Their kickass drink runner who never spills a drop when the drinks are filled to the very top. And the friendly waitstaff and food runners. Management: Once we were there and it was slammed. But they never missed a beat. However, management walked around and apologized to people for the wait because their online system wasn't working (we honestly didn't even think anything was awry) and comped something for a bunch of tables. Class act! Food: Always excellent. We try something new every time we are there and it never disappoints. FYI try their pasta. Beautiful! Drinks: We always order from their specialty cocktail section and they are always on point.

A very attractive "airport lounge" welcomed us ... the only problem we were not in a rush to catch…read moreour next flight but the small plates kept flying onto our small tight table before we even had enough time to finish what had been placed before us previously much less enjoy a conversation with each other. And, the plates remained once we hurriedly ate the food the "airline" pushed in front of us. The soups were delicious with the French Dip layered with thinly sliced beef (It was called a French Dip after all.) soaking in a rich onion influced broth accompanied by a soaked brioche crouton covered in melty provolone. The Butternut Squash Bisque flavored with asiago was definitely a winner too but before our soup course was 1/2 finished and with our Mediterranean Platter's tabouleh still showing its colors and enough hummus to later lead our waitress to ask if we wanted more pita ... the first entree was added to our crowded table. Not sure where the blame lies for the hurried appearance of plates but we were looking forward to a special evening out ... a birthday dinner choice ... a restaurant specializing in small plate dining should be well accustomed to serving diners in a relaxed manner. Upon their arrival I looked at the Schnitzel Medallions but wanted to enjoy the French Dip soup ... I knew the temperature of the food would be decreasing but the soup was so good. Why in the world would the first plate be served while we were enjoying our soup literally with soup spoons in or hands ... no, I did not hear that our flight was boarding ... we were in no rush but we were being rushed. So, now on the small table were our two soup bowls that we were finishing ... the plate still holding quite a bit of our Mediterranean Platter (We did expect to have some small talk after all it was a birthday celebration so we had leisurely started eating this appetizer.), we had the plates that we were expected to eat off of (Mine still had hummus and tabouleh on it.) and this brand new plate with pork tenderloin and asparagus. Maneuvering food became a needed skill. My dining partner put some schnitzel onto her "eating" plate letting soup cool ... I decided hot soup was more important than hot or even warmish pork so I continued to eat my soup but rushing soup made it less enjoyable. So, I finished my soup squeezing the empty bowl into a limited space on the table ... my "eating plate" was crowded still having hummus on it because I rushed my soup .. my dining partner said "yum the Schnitzel is good" while her soup chilled. I took the serving plate with the remaining Schnitzel and asparagus eating off it since it was the only plate with room. Before I took a bite the sliders arrived further crowding the table. Quickly the Butternut Squash Bisque was finished so that she could eat a hot well maybe warm Crispy Fish Slider ... I was still working on the Schnitzel knowing I was going to eat cold fish. And, as we both kept putting food in our mouths foregoing any conversation the Chicken Primavera arrived and looked picture perfect amidst the crowded table but finally the soup bowls were removed ... there's still hummus and tabloeh from that Mediterranean Platter that we didn't have time to finish and the waitress asks if we would like more pita ... sure ... I had just finished the cold slider and was about to try the chicken primavera. She also then noticed my water glass was almost empty and asked if I wanted a refill ...I did but had been so busy shoving food down my mouth that I just barely noticed I needed water (I actually knew I did but no one ever stopped by to ask.). And, just in case you're wondering... our flight still was not close to taking off from the terminal in this lovely lounge (It really is an attractive restaurant to dine in.) that reminded us of a classic airport lounge but it felt like a hallway fast food eatery. We had come to enjoy a leisurely small plate dinner with good conversation...celebrating a birthday before heading off to the theatre. You might be wondering why there are three stars rather than one. Well, the food was all really tasty. I would say it was delicious even though due to the rush the only food I ate that was hot was my soup. We finally did get back to that Mediterranean Platter and yes, we were given more pita and I wasn't rushed eating it because there was nothing left to be served. Oh, it looks like they have some nice outside seating for warmer days. We skipped the mixed drinks ... they looked really good and other folks seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Restaurant was not empty in the least but plenty of tables were still available. It was busy. A super waitress (Mariah) was superb. One of the children is a super picky eater so we knew going in that finding something for him at this restaurant would be a challenge. Thank goodness the one thing he eats is french fries!! So he doesn't count in this review because he only had a plate of french fries for his meal. Having said that, the plate of fries was GYNORMOUS ($5) !! The waitress brought 2 baskets of warm bread and a plate of warm peppers in oil & spices for the table. Awesome for both items. The adult graduate and her two friends had a cocktail ... each had a Casamigos Tequila Blood Orange Margarita that they said was awesome ($14 each). The kids diet coke and lemonade ($3 each) and my plain ole club soda ($3). The 2 friends each had the chicken parmigiana ($26 each) which came with 2 large pounded flat breasts on top of a bed of pasta. They each took half home with them. My daughter has the Penne Vodka ($24) along with a side of Italian Long Hot peppers ($8) and I had the unfortunate task of being on ATKINS diet so I bypassed all these good things on the menu and went straight for the chicken Caesar salad ($19). The salad was huge and at least a 7 -8 ounce grilled chicken served sliced on top. The total bill BEFORE the gratuity came to $179.95 + $11.93 tax for a total of $191.88 (before tip). The ambiance of Filomena Lakeview was really, really nice. We ate on their covered patio at high top table and it was really nice sitting there on a beautiful day. Anything to criticize? Not really. I didn't think the prices were out of line with any other restaurant for what they charge and the portion sizes were all very large. Nothing was skimpy at all. Mariah's service was great and ambiance was super. So, nope! All good and worthy of 5 stars!!

Despite the house being packed, the staff was incredibly accommodating from the second I walked through the door. While waiting for a spot to open up, they immediately ushered me into the bar area and took my drink order. The bar manager went out of her way to look after me, constantly checking in and reassuring me that a seat would turn over soon. True to her word, I was comfortably seated at the bar within 15 minutes. I opted for the full tasting menu with the wine pairing. Even though I was dining alone, the warmth of the staff meant I never felt isolated. The bartender looking after me was phenomenal--attentive, kind, accommodating, and just straight cool. The pacing was perfect, and the energy at the bar made the night. As for the meal itself, everything--and I mean everything--was excellent. Here is how the menu delivered: The Standouts: - Eggs and Caviar: A luxurious, flawless combination of potato, leek, and truffle that set an incredibly high bar right out of the gate. - Fusilli: Perfectly cooked pasta tossed with clams, a striking allium ash, and a deeply savory lobster sauce that had incredible depth. - Sweetbreads: Beautifully executed with mushroom, plantain, and a precise vin blanc. The touch of sweetness from the plantain was a brilliant contrast to the richness of the dish. - Fish Course: Flawlessly cooked fish paired with a sharp salsa verde, a complex sauce vin jaune, and served with a side of coco bread that was perfect for wiping the plate clean. - Koshihikari Rice: An absolute knockout. The texture of the premium rice combined with the subtle heat of aji dulce and the crunch of crispy mangalitsa pork was spectacular. - Grilled Short Rib: Meltingly tender, glazed in a rich oxtail jus with a hint of peanut that brought a unique, savory complexity to the finish. - Duck Egg Semifreddo: A vibrant, forward-thinking dessert utilizing mango, passion fruit, fig leaf, and tepache. It was exceptionally bright, balanced, and the perfect note to end on. The Verdict: Friday Saturday Sunday is easily one of the best dining experiences in Philadelphia. The food and wine pairings are operating at an elite level, but it is the elite, unpretentious hospitality that truly sets this place apart. Whether you are with a group or dining solo at the bar, it is a mandatory stop.
