From the outside looking at the building, the restaurant doesn't look like much, but you can tell by the quality of the food that it's really a hidden gem. The staff were very friendly and they checked in pretty frequently. The food was incredible, very authentic; so much so that the beans made me emotional because they tasted exactly like my grandfather use to make them before he passed away. I would gladly make the 2.5 hour trip to come back and eat again. The prices were very fair for the quality and quantity of food that you get. The steak was clearly fresh and flavorful. Genuinely a 10/10 find. This place is the perfect reason not to judge a book by its cover. read more

Cinco De Mayo - Steak burrito and Nachos - New Mexican Cuisine Near Me - Stamford, Connecticut

Cinco De Mayo is a small, family-operated restaurant that offers authentic Mexican cuisine. My coworker recommended this location, mentioning that the Chorizo Tacos were her favorite, so I decided to visit. The establishment is located at the corner of the street, and parking may be limited due to its placement on a one-way street. Fortunately, I was able to find parking nearby. Since this is in Stamford's downtown area, please be prepared for potential parking challenges. Upon entering, I was warmly greeted and asked whether I preferred to dine in or take out. I chose to dine in to experience the ambiance fully. I was informed that I could sit anywhere, and I placed my order: chorizo, Birria, steak, Al Pastor with pineapple, and pork carnitas tacos. My order was served in approximately fifteen minutes. The Chorizo taco was very flavorful and enjoyable, and I agree with my coworker that it was excellent. The Al Pastor taco with pineapple was good, though I found the pineapple flavor could be a bit more pronounced, and I personally would prefer less fat on the meat. The steak taco was tasty but a little dry; the meat was well-cooked and flavorful, but it lacked moisture. The Birria taco was acceptable, with each establishment offering its own unique take; this one used a soft tortilla, whereas I typically enjoy mine with a crunch and served with consommé broth. It was satisfactory but slightly on the dry side. The pork carnitas taco was flavorful and satisfying. Overall, if I return, I would especially recommend the Chorizo tacos, as they stood out to me. The customer service was courteous and attentive, and I appreciate supporting small, family-operated businesses. I would be happy to visit again. read more

You know those places that you wish you could hide from the public and keep it your own personal food spot? This is my place hands down. First off the staff are SUPER friendly and treat you like family. They always make sure we are happy with our meals! The food... freaking phenomenal. The tacos Al pastor are some of the best in Fairfield & westchester counties. Always flavorful and have great portions sizes! The price is super good as well! The nachos are my personal go to. Loaded with beans, cheese, and pico de gallo. No complaints! The quesabirria was very good as well! Overall one of the best pleases to get food in downtown Stamford. You BETTER check out this spot!!! read more

Terrible customer service. They are so mean. They say things like "Have a great weekend," but you can tell from their tone and expressions that they are actually irritated or angry. I am not sure why. read more

One of the best breakfast burritos I can remember in a long while. I got the egg, chorizo, black bean burrito and it was served grilled which gave it a nice texture. It had just the right amount of filling and was served with pico and a side of red and green salsa. I was told they also will make chilaquiles if you are dining in. Will definitely be back on my next trip to Stamford. read more

Ordered their chorizo omelette with cheese and home fries. No notes, everything was amazing and I ate everything. Great portion and better prices. Service was fast, I went in, ordered, and was out within 10 minutes. Straightforward, casual dining vibe. Can't wait to go back and try other things in the menu. read more

First time here and had a homestyle breakfast burrito with bacon, delicious with the potatoes.. food came out super quick, burrito admittedly was on the smaller side and could use a tiny bit more bacon but for the price and quality I can't complain... the perfect amount of food to not overstuff yourself... only 50 reviews for this place is criminal, definitely deserves more attention... I can't wait to come back here to try the tacos read more

Simple, authentic place! This place is kind of hidden. It's pretty authentic and has nice options. My husband loves that they serve breakfast any time. Service and staff is friendly. I love their tacos. Quick, easy place to grab a bite! They have a few tables inside and also outside which is nice. Would recommend. The only trick thing is street parking only. read more

Nice to sit outside in a small outside dinning area. Food was very good we had fajitas, lots of food. Very welcoming and great service.

This place was great! I really appreciated finding a more authentic Mexican eatery in downtown Stamford. I had the tacos, Sopes, and agua de horchata. The horchata was fantastic and alone was a big stand out. The sopes were great! Definitely will want to add more to it next time. The tacos had good flavor and the sauce was good, I wish there was a bigger meat portion as it is a lot of tortilla for not a lot of meat. Overall, my interactions with the store were great, everyone was so friendly from ordering to pick up. I would definitely come back and try other menu items. . read more

Went to the restaurant to order dinner (Birria Quesadilla with the Consommé, and my friend ordered one of the steak platters). The food was delicious and good for the price, and the service was great considering that our food was made to order. We also got the chips and guac (though the guac portion was pretty small). Overall a great Mexican place in Stamford! read more

Had lunch here today and it was phenomenal!! Fair price for a ton of food!!! Will definitely come back.

I came today to order some food for takeout, the customer service was excellent and the food was well prepared and packaged pretty quickly. The space is clean and inviting, almost a deli style setup with a large counter with some hot foods and Mexican snacks, candies, and deserts on display. The nice lady at the counter was very attentive, was happy to explain the menu and gave great suggestions on what to order. The food was excellent!!! I ordered the Birria Torta sandwich and I was already halfway thru before I remembered I wanted to take a photo! 5stars I'm happy stamford finally has a place for authentic Birria tacos made the true Jalisco way!! read more

Cinco De Mayo - Birria Beef Stew Tortas - New Mexican Cuisine Near Me - Stamford, Connecticut

Fantastic food. I requested Al Pastor for my burrito and they happily obliged. The owners were wonderful people.

New place on the corner opened up selling authentic Mexican food and I was sold. Went in and the owners gave us a sample of the birria and explained how they made it. The sample was yummy so we ordered a birria torta and some pork tacos and drinks. The food came out within minutes. We got the food to go. It was fresh, tasty and worth coming back a second time. The location is clean and colorful with Mexican tv playing in the corner. They have snacks, candy, chips, slices of flan, and other small items in case you just need a pick-me-up. We went back later in the week and got breakfast sandwiches since they have a breakfast special. The sandwiches were good but the bread to egg and meat ratio was off. Too much bread. It was still tasty. Will be coming back for more. read more
