CINCINNATI BELL CELLULAR WARNING:
I had Cincinnati Bell as my cellular carrier, for about 4 years, and the service was just average, no better or worse then anyone else' s service. I had "Verizon", and all they did was try to force you into more service contracts, and did very little for their current subscribers, I still hate them to this day, they are the worse of the cellular carrier rip-off artist.
Back to Cincinnati Bell, I had my Blackberry Flip stolen about two years ago, and reported it to Cincinnati Bell to make certain service was cut off. They told me I needed to file a police report in order to get a new phone, AND I HAD TO PAY FOR THE NEW PHONE, which I did at the Cincinnati Police main location, on Ezzard Charles. I took a copy of it to the Tri-County store to be processed.
Once they got the copy I was told that someone was already using my phone and that it had a new SIM's card in it. It was unlocked at a location, on Linn St., across from the elementary school. ( SHOULD NOT UNLOCKING PHONES IN WHICH YOU CAN'T PROVE YOU PURCHASED BE "ILLEGAL" ). Talk about a criminal enterprise. They did it for only $25, and never asked for proof of ownership. Sounds like "FENCING TO ME."
As I tried to get my cell phone traced down and returned, Cincinnati Bell could follow the cell phone and knew who was using it. By now I had to buy a new cell phone with them using there service, but the more afford I put into recovering the cell phone the more "STONE-WALLED" and it was becoming very apparent that Cincinnati Bell, was trying it's best to close the case I opened, and when I had the Police Detective investigate the stolen phone, even he got Stoned Walled in his investigation. Finally I had to have him to get a court order from a Judge to get to the truth. Once the court order was given and the truth came to the light, it was "ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING" to find out exactly what was going on.
It turns out that Cincinnati Bell knew exactly who had the cell phone, where they lived, and of course their names. It turns out that C.B. could locate the whereabouts of the phone at anytime, and that C.B. did not take the cell phone back even though they knew in advance it was a reported stolen phone.
They did all this because they turned out to be the carriers of the stolen phones service, and it was all about getting the money instead of doing what was right, and returning the cell phone back to me. Even the detective was puzzled about that fact. Now you see why they wanted to Stone-Wall the investigation. They have to be doing this on a regular basis to take such a risk. How many more people have ended up like myself, but not pushed the issue.
Out of my stolen cell phone, they made three new customers because they don't have a service contract nor do they do a background credit check. No surprise at that, huh! My stolen cell phone was sold to an individual who then sold it to his another lady/neighbor, and then she sold it to her mother. Unfortunately the two women did not know they were buying a stolen cell phone, but the first individual did.
Worse of all, Cincinnati Bell knew they had given them service on a stolen phone. I have talked to other carriers, and all of them have a policy that if a cell phone from one of there customers, is reported stolen, and someone for any reason try's to get service then their cell phone it is immediately confiscated, and the owner is immediately notified. There should be a national network listing of reported stolen cell phones.
This is not the policy of Cincinnati Bell, and if they say it is, then reread the story, again.
Small electronic items are the largest growing segment of criminal activities in the nation as well as the world, and it is overwhelming the Police departments so much that they don't even put much effort into finding the items, because people replace them so quickly, and only now with full time GPS tracking have they been able to locate the items to within a few block, and to within a few feet.
I have since gone to another carrier, and not only did I drop Cincinnati Bell's cellular service, but I dropped all of their service, which I have had for over 20-25 years. This includes their internet service and home phone service. This is the kind of disloyalty they show to there longtime customer like myself, so I have no problem in cutting my service and loyal to them.
