An update. I DID change my landline/internet/cable service to Cincinnati Bell! I've had it for a year. And... it's pretty great. I changed from Time Warner/Spectrum/Charter. They didn't want to negotiate on pricing, kept throwing on crazy fees and the bill was just huge. So, against my better judgment and out of frustration, I called Cincinnati Bell. The lady I spoke to was really great. I played it col when she asked how much I was paying at Time Warner and how much I wanted to pay. But, ultimately, I got almost the exact same services and my bill was literally half the price of Spectrum. Locked in for a year. No contract. You pay a larger sum for three months so you don't have to pay the huge installation fee up front. I thought it was pretty smart. My service has been really consistent. The cable doesn't go out when the wind blows too hard. The internet is strong. I don't know the download speeds but it works to support like ten devices in my home. I've only had to call them for assistance two or three times. They were nice and helpful. The on demand for Cincinnati Bell tv is a little generic and difficult to navigate and there is really no useful app for a tablet... but it's not a bit deal. My first year is up and my price has increased as "promotions" expire. I figure with companies like Disney and FX building their own streaming services things with cable companies are going to be weird. It hasn't gone up much, though. And I'm not under a contract. So if I want to dump cable and move to Sling, I can whenever I want. read more

After a software update I am getting pop up messages about updating storage on my TV. I can't understand why they don't debug the new software or revert back to the previous version until they fix it. I believe Altafiber TV service has been hacked but they won't allow the poor agent to admit it. One more pop up message and I'm gone! Altafiber needs to start providing customer service by showing concern about problems with their service. I feel sorry for the poor agents that have to deal with customer complaints. read more

Worst ever and I feel like I've been robbed $6k the past 10 years of my life. Here is some insight chances are if you live in an apartment, condo or townhome you have as well been robbed. Most multi unit dwelling units can only get up to 50mbps though their Fioptics (they don't tell you this when you sign up). This is because most apartments don't let them install what needs to be installed to get more. So you are paying the same price for 50mbps as someone getting 600mpbs. It is shady and wrong. I put in my address and my friends who has an upgraded unit into her house for price comparison. This is highway robbery. Protect yourself and if you need internet get a different provider if you live in a multi unit dwelling unit. Or ask to see if they have the upgraded unit on the outside of your building for each unit. If not buyer beware. read more

Cable TV, Internet, Phone service with AltaFiber (Cincinnati Bell). Price continues to go up while customer service continues to go down. They recently did an equipment change to wireless by simply sending a box of set top boxes and a router with the threat that we must install by July 16, 2024 or risk service interruption. The startup has been rough with unstable connections and the HD quality is not as good as before. Basically the service interruptions we tried to avoid by installing as required. Could not get through to Customer Service by phone; unacceptable! We will look at making a change in service providers. read more

Been with them for years, but they just raised my bill over 100%. I have spent HOURS on the phone not only trying to get an explanation for this, despite new promotion, but I might as well be talking to myself. They have shut off my service twice, once due to fioptics conversion I didn't do soon enough, despite me telling them twice I was in the hospital for an extended stay, 2nd because my bill was past due by only 2 wks due to me not being able to get resolution to multiple issues. I was given 5 different prices for my new bills, and they could see I wasn't ignoring the bill. I even made a good faith payment of my previous bill amt of $120 in the interim plus another $189. I now have another past due bill for $570!! They owe me credits for 8 days of no service 0lus 61 days of no phone service among other things, but refuse to issue credits until I pay my bill in full. They also inaccuratly dispute each issue I bring up. Now I have spent hours going over everything on my bills, plus even more hours trying to talk to various depts I've been referred to, but have yet to reach any of them. Whoever answers the phone claims to handle Sales, Finance, Customer Retention and billing, even though there are separate depts for these, but none of them has justified the over 100% increase in price or done anything else. Now I have some supervisor calling me tomorrow (I'll be on double digits of phone hrs by then), plus I had to have 3 techs come out to fix everything the 1st one messes up, then had the audacity to charge me for some of their work! They stole my equipment!!! I returned my equipment to the store and they said they would email a receipt. I looked and I got an email from them so I assumed that everything was fine, but they are now claiming that I never returned the equipment. Why do we no longer receive CBS Sports Network? When you call to talk to anyone at customer service they simply say that the demands of Paramount Global are outrageous and the channel is removed forever. They further state that Altafiber is not even trying to get the channel back on the air or negotiate. This channel is part of a package you pay money for - I understand there are times when channels are off the air during the negotiations; however, to simply say the channel is removed forever DONE DEAL to me seems like a terrible business practice and shows no concern for the consumer(customer). I never permanently lost channels with Spectrum and just a month ago Comcast successfully negotiated CBS Sports Network with Paramount Global so why can't Altafiber do the same? 11/22/2023 So, I emailed the person who said she wanted to address my issue and NO RESPONSE. I also sent a request for assistance on their contact form, and NO RESPONSE. Payment was due today, so I had to pay. This company's policies and practices are criminal. Now Altafiber. Another update. I'm leaving this company at the end of the year. ZERO stars. My bill was increased by almost $20 with no notice. When I chatted to get an explanation (after waiting 15 min to chat with someone), I learned I had to go through a security procedure requiring a photo of myself with my license. Had fiber optics installed less than 3 weeks ago. They used track fiber. It took three appointments and now the fiber is coming out of the track Had appointment today for between 3 and 7 PM. Received a call stating they would now be there between 3 and 430. It is now close to 6 and no tech, called and they said they tech put a note in their system stating he spoke with Me and problem is fixed. What a lie he never spoke with me. Now I have to re arrange my schedule for tomorrow. Their customers service is awe full. Alta fiber/ Cincinnati bell raised their prices to an unaffordable amount. I wanted to cancel yesterday the 14th of July 2024 . Which was the end of the billing cycle . I was ill!! I called today , a day later and was told that I have to pay for the full month of August!! So I look online, find that for at least 3 years I can get faster speeds for less money. Noice. Waste of my investment for their internet service. I trusted this company and have used their internet service for 12 months. At first I thought it was great until 1.5 month later, the signal were getting worse, disconnected from internet all the time, and I had to reset the modem to get some internet receptions. I went to a local Cincinnati Bell's branch in Florence, KY for an exchange with a new modem. The girl who assist me was rude and exchanged it with an used modem. I don't care if the modem was already used but the worst part is that the modem she gave me was torn apart. The plastic glass was broken and you can see the cracks on it, the wires were coming out from the case, and the power supply cable was torn apart and see the inside wires. I asked the lady to give me a better looking kind but she came up worth an excuse. She said to me that they don't have additional modems Maybe she was lying because I am a minority. This place doesn't have a excellent customer service reps, they won't greet you when you walk into the store, and will never approach you with a smile. If you have a choice, go to any other internet provider. I lived in a building that was exclusive to Cincinnati Bell, so had their horribly slow service from 2016 - 2021. When I moved out of state, I notified them well in advance and had my service disconnected in the first week of September. These scam artists charged me for service through the end of September, even though I have a receipt for returning my gateway dated September 15 and a confirmation of the service disconnect on September 7. Unphased, I paid the amount of the bill for service through September 15 and then contacted their customer service. 3 times. Once in September, twice in October, no response any time, just automated messages "Thank you for contacting Cincinnati Bell. We will get back to you shortly." So, they got what they wanted. I just paid for service they had already disconnected 3 weeks prior and for which I had no equipment for for the last 2 weeks plus bogus late fees because they could not answer their own customer service line. Because rather than respond, they inflated $38 into $55 and then sent it to collections. Next step Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, but shame on them for messing with my credit for $20. read more

Not sure who likes AltaFiber but the quality of the installation work leaves a lot to be desired. They cut my neighbors cable line and left trash and mounds of dirt at the installation sites. Oh and I now have a huge green AltaFiber box sunk in my yard. I didn't ask for their service but apparently they can come into a neighborhood and wreak havoc on our properties. If I could rate it lower I would. I cancelled my service with them in 2015 because they had doubled my bill and couldn't tell me more than "it went up". When I would ask to speak to a supervisor I would be put on hold and "accidentally" hung up on or the told me that I would get a call back, I never did. Finally after a few days of this I told them to cancel my service I was done. Fast forward to now, I'm packing up my life getting ready to move cross country only to find out that I cant be approved for anywhere to live because I have and account in collections with them. After calling they inform me that my account was never canceled and they disconnected it due to nonpayment. No bills, notices, or contact from these collections agencies for 4 years! Told that they can't do anything, it's my problem and I need to just pay the collection agency. Now here I am, 4 YEARS LATER, still fighting because they are incompetent and cant do their job. Yelp won't allow me to give Cincinnati Bell a 0 rating but that's what they should get. Our phone line breaks often and apparently they don't care about repairing their old equipment. CB admits they they oversold their old equipment but until a few days ago, Fioptics wasn't available to our community. When you call to have the lines repaired, it takes days and days to get a repairman and the customer services reps (if you can understand them in spite of their heavy accents) are useless. I was very happy with my service for years. Recently I noticed an increase in my bill due to $20 a month for whole house internet. I only had one repeater upstairs. It had been $5 a month. I tried chat and/or calling to discuss the bill. The bill is in my husband's name, but for the 47 years I have had service with Cincinnati Bell, I have called or dropped into the store and made all changes in billing and services without his presence. In spite of my email being on the account and I was calling on the account phone line, the customer service people would not deal with me unless my husband answered the phone when they called in 2 to 3 hours. I sent a copy of my driver's license with the address of the service. That was not enough, I either needed him to call or I could send a copy of a power of attorney and a picture of me holding my license or wait until they called back at an undesignated time. I have never had a worse experience with a company. Quoted me a price $50/month lower than it actually was and tried to tell me I should have expected it to be higher from extra fees and surcharges. Nowhere in my quote was I told there would be extra fees. There was also an $100 charge for the guy to come here and hook up the Wi-Fi router so I am paying $250 for the slowest internet I've had in an apartment. If I could back out of their services completely, I would but my apartment requires we use them.
