Altafiber is working on installing fiber optics in our neighborhood and dug up and cut our current spectrum internet lines. Yelp won't allow me to give Cincinnati Bell a 0 rating but that's what they should get. Our phone line breaks often and apparently they don't care about repairing their old equipment. CB admits they they oversold their old equipment but until a few days ago, Fioptics wasn't available to our community. When you call to have the lines repaired, it takes days and days to get a repairman and the customer services reps (if you can understand them in spite of their heavy accents) are useless. I hope their Fioptics work better but I am not encouraged by all the complaints about them online. How does this company even stay in business? read more

Wouldn't wish what I've gone through with this company on my worst enemy. AWFUL, UNRESPONSIVE, POOR COMMUNICATION when they actually return a phone call. Cost my small business THOUSANDS of dollars for their own mistakes and then refused to fix the issue. This was devasting to us and they couldn't have cared less. I had to contact BBB and file a complaint before someone that didn't talk like a robot called me back and was able to fix our issue in 30 seconds. I had back and forth with their consumer service representatives for MONTHS. My 85 year-old mother just moved and I was in charge of getting her service changed to her new place. Honestly, it was one of the worst experiences I've had working with a company that is supposed to provide a necessary service. When I initially called about the change I used their online "chat" feature. I was told that the internet service would go from 500MBPS to 50MBPS and was given the explanation that better service wasn't available in her area. She actually moved into a downtown area of a more populated area...nothing remote. Then I was told that her monthly bill would increase...even though she would have less service. On top of that, there would be an installation fee of over $100 in order to do this. She moved into a 6 year old condominium with all wiring in place. I finally called and talked to someone and got the monthly charge to what it should be and the installation fee was reduced. When the installer came to get everything set up it was like he wanted to leave the second he got there. He set up the TV receiver inside of a cabinet so the remote didn't work unless the cabinet was open...the cable he brought for the internet wasn't long enough to set the computer up with a desk...only one phone jack worked (apparently Cincinnati Bell will make sure that one jack works. If you want more than one jack, you have to pay extra...which was never explained). He never checked with anyone about where to place the receiver...didn't go over how the system worked with my mom...he just left a pamphlet and got out as quickly as he could. To be fair, he could have been under intense pressure by his superiors to do an unrealistic number of installations. At any rate, we will definitely be looking into other companies who provide similar services but who actually provide the customer service to go along with the basic services. read more

An update. I DID change my landline/internet/cable service to Cincinnati Bell! I've had it for a year. And... it's pretty great. I changed from Time Warner/Spectrum/Charter. They didn't want to negotiate on pricing, kept throwing on crazy fees and the bill was just huge. So, against my better judgment and out of frustration, I called Cincinnati Bell. The lady I spoke to was really great. I played it col when she asked how much I was paying at Time Warner and how much I wanted to pay. But, ultimately, I got almost the exact same services and my bill was literally half the price of Spectrum. Locked in for a year. No contract. You pay a larger sum for three months so you don't have to pay the huge installation fee up front. I thought it was pretty smart. My service has been really consistent. The cable doesn't go out when the wind blows too hard. The internet is strong. I don't know the download speeds but it works to support like ten devices in my home. I've only had to call them for assistance two or three times. They were nice and helpful. The on demand for Cincinnati Bell tv is a little generic and difficult to navigate and there is really no useful app for a tablet... but it's not a bit deal. My first year is up and my price has increased as "promotions" expire. I figure with companies like Disney and FX building their own streaming services things with cable companies are going to be weird. It hasn't gone up much, though. And I'm not under a contract. So if I want to dump cable and move to Sling, I can whenever I want. read more

When you call to fix a problem, no one has any idea how to fix anything. They tell you they will have a rep call back to help and they just never do. We went to the actual CB store to get a new modem and we were promised all our issues will be fixed and it ended up making everything worse. Signed up on a 45 a month special for just internet h phone, they secretly add TV to the package (without my permission, AND without leaving the equipment, bc we didn't sign up for it, but dude needed to meet a quota i guess) Had to argue with "Frank" with promises to have tv removed off the bill, but for the first bill i would have to pay full charge amount and be credit 45 for the next month. Unethical business practices--bait and switches. Beware and make sure to get any offer discussed over the phone verbally to be written. Had a call with them and they offered $121/month and no installation fee. First month, got a Bill of $400 for installation. Took hours on the phone and supervisor after supervisor. Eventually after persistence, they re-listened to my call and waived the installation fees. Hours wasted and frustration. The next month, my bill is now magically $138, as they said the $121 was only the first month. That's garbage and purely them increasing the rate after it's locked in. Calls with supervisor and they simply say, that's the best we can offer and the 121 was only 1 month. Imagine if your car lease, apartment rental, gym membership, Netflix, or any service did that? Had used Cincinnti Bell/Alta Fiber many years. Always horrible experiences. Constantly had static on our phone and never could get rid of it no matter what they did. When calling customer service it was hard to get them to understand what was needed and I believe the calls were answered in another country. Got rid of them and love our new service. All i get are these dead tired texts that say "we are aware and are working to resolve the issue". Altafiber, Cincinnati Bell, installed internet and streaming TV service at my residence in April 2022. It was installed with a guarantee of NO price increases for two years. Eight months into the service, my pricing was increased and I was told that they had no choice, prices increased due to rising costs of doing business. They completely reneged on their agreement. I am absolutely LIVID with this company. I had no choice but to use them for internet service, which was always extremely slow and spotty, but I faithfully paid the bill with them for years. I have lived in a different city for over a year, but I maintained my home in Cincinnati and kept paying the bill. I officially finalized my move last month and cancelled my service. At that time, I asked the person to allow me to pay whatever was due. They told me that nothing was due. Now, I receive a bill for services through the 9th of this month (again, I cancelled my service LAST month), and they have the nerve to include a late fee. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE!!! To begin with, I was just supposed to receive an email containing pricing so I could look it over and decide if I wanted to switch. Instead, my email was used to create an account and schedule an install. So, I called to cancel it, because I never scheduled it in the first place. Instead of just doing that, they wanted a copy of my driver's license to cancel it. I refused, because if an email address is enough to create an account and an install, what could happen with more of my personal information? The issue was finally resolved, and I thought that was the end of it. But no. A few hours later, I got ANOTHER email with ANOTHER account and yet ANOTHER install date. I called to cancel it once again, after already spending about 45 minutes at work taking care of the first one. And, even though there was a record that I already had the same problem just a few hours ago, I was asked for a copy of my ID again, and when I once again refused, I was told, again, that it couldn't be cancelled. So, another 45 minutes later, I finally got that one cancelled as well, then I asked if there was a way I could be taken out of the system, and I was informed that no, there was not. Then I asked how I could avoid doing this a third time and was told there was no way of doing that. About half an hour later, I got a call from Jeremy Smith, and he asked me if there was any way to help me to decide to switch after all. I told him, I would rather use data on my phone or never use the internet again than go with this service. It was a nightmare from start to finish. I say finish, But I can't even be sure of that because there could be another appointment scheduled and there's apparently, nothing that can be done about it. read more

I have experienced horrible customer service with AltaFiber. Telemarketer promised to match Spectrum and my first bill was $38.00 higher than Spectrum. Also promised 120+ channels and I was told after inquiring into my first bill that My Way TV package is substantially more than the basic TV package which I now currently have. I complained to Better Business Bureau and AltaFiber's response was that My Way is an upgrade but would honor the original quote and would provide coaching to the representative who called me about AltaFiber inItially. Altafiber said that my service would be restored in 4-6 hours and it is now 4 days later and I still have the basic TV package. Called AltaFiber 2 days ago and was supposed to receive a call back and never did hear from them. I would not recommend their service. Cincinnati BELL I'm communicating with you hoping that you will be able to help me with an unresolved issue that has been going on since December 2017. We requested in December that 2 numbers be ported over to Spectrum. The two numbers 513-681-xxxx, and 513-681-xxxx. To this day, this has not been achieved. If you dial my number 513-681-xxxx, there is a recording stating it is out of service. I have had that number for 20 years and I want to continue to have MY number. Cinti Bell blames Spectrum and vice Versa. After several cancelled appointments because CINCINNATI BELL lost the original work order, or were unable to port both numbers -- or changed the 513-681-xxxx to 513-681-xxxx this saga continues! I have spent, countless hours on the phone with technicians, the Spectrum tech was in my home and we realized the number showing up was incorrect --513-381-xxxx. That day, I was told I needed a pass code to make the request of Cincinnati Bell to port over my correct number. So here we are, many excuses later and this simple request has yet to be executed by Cincinnati Bell. Frustrating and angry do not come close to what I am feeling at this moment. I am also shocked and disappointed by the lack of professional courtesy to help resolve this issue. 2 weeks ago, after several hours on the phone, a Floor Supervisor in Elite Care (Leesa) told me I have checked with 3 sources and they have assured me that they ported over the correct number. There is nothing we can do at this point - since you are now a Spectrum customer. I suggest you go back to SPECTRUM and have them to figure the problem out. When I asked if I could get both parties on the phone, on a conference call, so that Cincinnati Bell could stop sending me to SPECTRUM, and vice versa -- she said that could NOT be done. I continue to be without my number (now months) missing calls from family, co-workers and reminders of doctor appointments. When you dial 513-681-xxxx the recording still says this number is no longer in service. I don't not want to make this a social media issue, also, I do not want to make this a better business bureau complaint. I would prefer NOT to make this a topic on my radio show. They try hard to upsell you when setting up service. Halfway through them adding on fees and packages I just told them to cancel everything and just give me what I had originally asked for. I then needed the modem moved to a different room in my house and set up for a tech to move it for $100 and they couldn't get there for almost a week. I set up the appointment, they called in a couple days later just to check and make sure everything was still good as I needed this to be able to work from home. Good thing I did as they had no record of the appointment and I had to set up a new one for the day after I was originally scheduled for. I'm now just hoping someone actually shows up to my place to move the modem. read more

Terrible, that's all I can say. Internet and cable never stays on, freezes, turns off frequently. We have to reset whole system few times a day. We had called technical support, what they told us was that it happens when more people gets on their systems, it causes these slow down, shut off etc. When people are off from work mostly is when the problem in my area. I regret this move because altafibers tv service is constantly buffering, they said they sent a fix but it certainly is NOT WORKING! I called and get some young man who did not give a rasts butt if Cincinnati Bell lost my service or not. He advised me my rates would go up another $30.00 a month. I told him to cancel my service. There was ZERO attempt to keep me as a customer! It was a very simple fast conversation.... I am extremely disappointed. Then, I go online to my account. I requested a 'chat' about my account. I proceed to tell them my prior experience with their costumer service. I was again treated wrong... not like crap this time but there was ZERO recovery. I don't have time to call numerous people and numbers and sit on hold and wait for my call to be in a -never ending queue of complaint calls-or leaving voicemails that go unanswered. I recently switched from Spectrum because of their unreasonable price increases. Fioptics has been a disaster. Their tivo box will not work properly on a Vizio tv. It keeps turning off and when it is turned back on there is no sound. The guide cannot be used because the program has no sound until the TV is turned off and then back on. They can do nothing to resolve the problem. Then I have a sub voice mailbox that I cannot access and after calling 4 times to resolve the issue they keep starting over with the request and nothing is done. It has to be the WORST when it comes to technical support. It was a big mistake to change. read more

This company is another example proving that there is a very serious problem with capitalism working correctly within the USA. After ~two hours of chats AND calls, I learned that only 1/10th of their alleged employees know about their own services. (Already knowing about basic stuff like caller ID service, for instance, is not the same as being able to read about it from their intranet.) So, good luck if you want to learn about their possible services! You'll need it! And, they don't offer simultaneous multi-ring, so there is no way you can use your cell phone to get home calls unless you toss your land line phone or enjoy programming each time you leave and enter your house. (In Ohio wireless coverage isn't always that great, so a land line is still useful.) I guess I could do a double ECN swap and have it done via the wireless carrier, but that is a lot of work. Anyway, they have a feature called One Reach Plus, but feature-wise it is the same as call forwarding, and I am not sure anyone there knows why they have a different name for it or why is is called One Reach Plus when the alleged difference is that it allows the calls to go to more than one line, which implies the word "One" should NOT be in the name. The website is a bit of a joke as well, since it doesn't help. I don't like rating anyone 1 star, but once in a while I will make an exception. Cincinnati Bell is indeed exceptional enough, and not in a good way. read more

I have been doing business with CB for 25+ years. Recently got an offer for significantly better internet (8GB vs. their 1.5), same TV service and home phone for $60/month less from a competitor. Wife didn't want the hassle of changing so I gave CB a chance to match the other pricing. They came down $20/month.....for worse service. No wonder everyone is eliminating their home phones and buying a Ruku. Was really excited for Fioptics when it became available. Service has been awful, slow internet, etc. We should have left years ago. BTW, the pricing at Spectrum is guaranteed. I guess Spectrum will be getting a new customer tomorrow morning. Well all my neighbors including a CB tech said theirs was working so.., it appears after doing some trouble shooting we have a bad power supply. I wish I would have send the reviews before signing up for home internet. They give you a price for a few months then start doubling it each month. At first they didn't even give me the price I was quoted because I didn't get it in writing (should have seen the signs then). They also drill holes through your siding and walls without saying anything before drilling. I asked specifically "if I cancel, what do I do with this equipment?" I was told "just throw it away, you won't have to return it." Then when I cancelled, they sent me a bill for $130 because I didn't return my equipment within 5 days of cancelling. We signed up for an internet service that CANNOT be used to run a business. When we canceled we had $400+ in termination fees. I contacted AltaFiber in 2022 to inquire about having my service contract negotiated or terminated. I was informed by the Representative that I could not do this until I was within the Window of my Contract Expiration Date being March 8th 2023. The soonest date I could accomplish this per Altafiber was December 12th 2022 in which I did in fact contact them to terminate my service on said date however my service has not been terminated and still being charged. When I called again today I was informed I can't make any changes as my contract isn't up until March 2024. Naturally this is an issue for me and I want my service terminated immediately and a refund of said monies paid after my contract expiration date of March 8th 2023. I have already filed a complaint with the State of Ohio Attorney General as well as the Better Business Bureau, & Google Review. If this is not resolved by the end of week I will be filing a small claims court suit for said monies plus damages in Butler County Municipal Court. read more

Got a call from Cincinnati Bell rep trying to get my business back from Spectrum. I had been considering because of constantly dropping WiFi. After a long conversation & negotiating, I opted to make the change. I repeated the terms to the woman, she confirmed and I went back to Cindy Bell. I have called 3 times about incorrect info and costs. Now am on the hook for an additional $200 installation fee that was NEVER mentioned to me. I asked several times for our original phone conversation to be pulled to no avail. The "supervisor" said the installation charge was a given. I really thought Cincinnati Bell was more of a "home town" company. What a joke. No better than Spectrum. How do we get out from under these unethical companies when they are all the same!?! read more
