Tried this spot on a date on a Sunday afternoon and it did not disappoint. Didn't have to wait long for a table. Ordered a fresa drink that was delicious! The paleta it cane with had fresh fruit frozen in it. Had to carefully eat it - first date lol. My date had a regular margarita that he enjoyed. Then we shared loaded fries w chorizo and those were really good! Crispy and fiery. Definitely have to go back to try more food. I came here twice during my pregnancy. There thing is the drinks I'm gonna say because they have such a limited menu. The loaded fried and the chips and guacamole are amazing. These dishes are insta worthy as well as there alcoholic beverages which is essentially why I think people visit them. Came here on a random Wednesday night with friends. It was smaller than I expected and had to wait a while to be seated. The cocktails are definitely aesthetically pleasing and taste great too. The popsicle ones are about $18 each. We ordered the street corn and guacamole for apps. The guacamole was some of the best I've ever tried. Lets talk about the outdoor situation-they did it beautifully & it is heated. Heated more and better than anywhere else I've been. The aesthetic is lovely. I visited this place to start off my husband birthday. We had an appetizer ( guacamole and chips) the norm. I had chicken tacos and he had the beef. It was ok. The drinks were good. Service ok. I meant to write this back when they just opened - but I've come back since and still love it, so here goes: I went on recommendation of a friend who had dined here and told us about how he randomly had a great conversation with the owner about what to order and he could see how much love the guy had for the restaurant. When you check in with the hostess, she gives you hand sanitizer, and you can take a seat at one of their many socially distanced outdoor tables (love all of the plants decorating the walls surrounding the tables). Bathroom is clean! The whole vibe is classy, but also super relaxed and "neighborhood-y". Our waitress was enthusiastic, quick, and gave excellent recommendations about what to order. Service was great! (Note: if you're reading this post-Christmas 2020, it seems like the snow storm destroyed their outdoor seating set-up, so hope it gets fixed soon :/ ) The restaurant specializes in cuisine from Tijuana / Sinaloa - with specialties being their tacos and ceviches. We had the fresh guacamole to start, and we appreciated how much guac we got. It was a LOT of guac. The drinks were smooth, refreshing, and super Instagrammable. We got the mezcalita campechana, house margarita, and acia berry margarita. For the main dish, we split 3 different kinds of tacos in order to try each of them: the tacos de birria (the waitress said that was the *must-try* dish), fish tacos and octopus tacos. The reason am giving them two stars is because of their service. We got seated at 3:30 ish and we didn't get our order taken until 3:55. A hidden gem!!! First of all I never knew this side of Astoria. This place is amazing! Staff is very friendly and make great suggestions the outdoor seating is really nice. Great for a family outing, date night or night out with friends. For the app we got the ceviche with mango 10/10 it's packed with flavors spicy and also very well balanced great with the chips. By far best Mexican ceviche I have had they don't add a lot of ketchup which has been a issue at other places! We also ordered the octopus which was really good super juicy and cooked to the right finish. For the drinks they are very strong!! Be prepared I couldn't finish mine honestly should have known better we ordered the mezcalita very spicy also! For main dish we got the ribeye tacos 10/10 and the shrimp taco 8/10. The ribeye was cooked perfect and not overpowering the shrimp was a little to seasoned in my opinion but it was nice and crunchy not over cooked which was great. Maybe the food is good (God only knows) but the personnel there is the worst part of the menu. They don't have an ounce of common sense, they don't care about the customers and they are there just to entertain their personal friends who always have priority for the tables and the food and drinks consuming customers we just got wait until they please to get you in to a table. Disgusting treatment to customers from the irrelevant and shallow youngsters they have here for hostess and managers. Cielito does not have a website and I tried to reach out on their Instagram last week and never got a response. Besides not liking ny entree, my main problem was their customer service. I copied the message that I sent them below: "Hello! I just wanted to share my experience at your restaurant last night. The drinks were amazing and the appetizers were really good but I wasn't very happy with my entree. I ordered the birria tacos and took two bites and I did not like it. When my waiter came by I mentioned this to him and he asked if I wanted to take it home and I said no because I didn't like it. I was very much surprised when I saw that I was still charged for a dish that I did not like and did not even take home. When I asked him why I was being charged his response was that there was nothing wrong with the food because no one complained about it so I still had to pay for it and he walked away. I don't feel like that was good customer service telling a customer that there is nothing wrong with a dish and they had no reason to not like it. He should have at least offered a replacement. I happened across this bar while looking for a warm neighborhood bar during COVID. As a physician, I take COVID precautions seriously and I'm glad this restaurant has a great balance between ventilation and warmth.
