I'm off today and was craving for pho. My gf recommended going to Burnaby Heights Chao Mami for lunch... I was quite impressed when we stepped out. The place is clean, well lit, accommodating service, reasonable price, the food is delicious and well presented. Even the washroom is clean and spacious.... I rate it 4.5 stars because only one washroom for M/F.

This place is very busy during the lunch rush. They have a $10 special Monday, Wednesday and Friday and also a $10 pho happy hour from I think 2pm to 5. Today was Monday. And I had a very juicy chicken on vermicelli and paid an extra $5 for a spring roll. This was delicious! The ambiance is nice. But since this place was so full you'll mostly hear the background noise of other hungry diners eating their delicious food!

Really recommend this place! Service was great and very friendly staff. Food was delicious! Everything we had was tasty! I really enjoyed the spring rolls! Super cripsy and crunchy on the outside and soft tender on the inside. I like that it is made with rice paper! The drinks were good. Best part is the complimentary mini soft serve dessert which I forgot to take a photo. There's plenty of parking on the streets or behind their store there's 2 small free parking lots.

It was our first time but not the last!!!!.... For sure!! Very cozy ambience, excellent and professional service offered by Mi. Mi is very courteous , friendly and diligent, great skills of customer service , and she explained all about the menú. The vietnamese culinary is exquisite, generous portions and very affordable . We ordered fruit shakes, Chicken Pho, House Pho, Green papaya salad and spring rolls . What a festival of delicious flavours !!! Highly recomendad, even they have HAPPY HOUR!!

We came upon a recommendation from a friend and it didn't disappoint. It's not your typical Pho places but it's got more local dishes. We had: *Chicken Wings *SHaKen BeeF/Bò Lúc Lắc *Caramelized Prawn & Pork Belly/Tôm Kho Thịt Ba Chỉ *Sizzling Saigon Crepe/Bánh Xèo Every dish was a winner tonight except for the Sizzling Saigon Crepe which barely had any shrimp or pork but bean sprouts.

$10 Pho HAPPY HOUR 2-6pm : Closed This Friday / Saturday 0nly May 15-16 but OPENED May 17 ..This SUNDAY !!!! YAY!!! We saw there was a $10 happy hour 2-6pm everyday . We went Friday May 15 but there was a sign they said it will be closed Friday and Saturday . We were disappointed and befuddled ... it was bizarre , did something happen ? Does this mean they will open on Sunday -- May 17 ??? We were on the area Sunday May 17 about 515pm and to our amazement it was open and packed with diners . There was a line up and we were third in line and worried we wud not be seated by 6pm and not qualify for the $10 pho. Luckily by 5:30 pm we got a table and got our delicious pho by 5:50 pm ... Meanwhile the line got longer. It's great marketing they do this and helps builds them a wider diner base of both Asians and non Asians ( mainly invisible minorities ) I observed the dines were 90% Asian and 10% non Asians. I noticed these so called Invisible minorities did speak English but with some sort of Eastern European accent and continued rambling amongst themselves in their dialect , loudly as common with first generation immigrant. . Curiously we finally were able to get the attention of one of the staff and asked why they were closed the last two days .. she said , pointing to another staff , we celebrated her wedding ..

I love it here. Such a beautiful mural and great dining on Hastings! They have some great daily specials and happy hour pricing so definitely check them out. We ordered the grilled pork belly - This is supposed to be recommended for two people. Good amount of food and nice flavouring. I do wish there was more lettuce for the "wraps" but it was very refreshing. We also got pho and spring rolls. The pho broth was great and the spring rolls were so nice and crispy with lots of filling. Service is nice and friendly. Food came out quickly. You also get a complimentary cute little pineapple soft serve dessert (I ate too quickly sorry no pic lol) afterwards. This may just be while it lasts but it's a nice treat.

Came to try this famous Monday chicken bun noodle special for $10. We added the spring roll for $5. Great taste on the bun noodle. Menu also has good selection of all the favorites. After 2 pm they have a pho special for $10. Beef Pho soup a little salty but with the lime and basil leaves $1 extra) the soup was just right. Overall great local Vietnamese fast eatery worth your time.

Tried the Wed lunch special - Pork Chops on rice. For $10 it was a great deal. Hard to find good eateries with good deals. This was definitely better than the Monday special. The pork chop was well cooked and portion size was good. It wasn't too busy but we got there when they opened.

$10 happy hour pho! The portion is large and there is a lot of meat. The broth is pretty good too. The interior is quite nice as well and the service was prompt. Overall, this place goes to my list of 'where to go when I'm hungry and broke'.

-edit dec 2024- Wanted to try their lunch bun bo hue special for $10. It was ok but again the broth itself was bland. The bowl was small. And the lunch special does not come with bean sprouts - they make you lay $1 for it. Not much of a special but just a cheaper version with a cheaper price tag. We got the beef carpaccio and again it was extremely good. Just really expensive. -original review may 2024- Came for their grand opening promotion. Lots of parking on the streets and side streets. House pho - broth is quite bland. Not very beefy flavor. Noodles were perfectly al dente. Good amounts of meat. I would try the bun bo hue or bun rieu next time. Beef carpaccio - super flavorful. Like the addition of fried onion.

    Pork belly and mango shake
    Deb C.

It was okay. Not really worth the drive to Burnaby but glad we got free parking in a lot nearby. Pork belly was kind of salty as was the rest of the food but really enjoyed the mango shake with condensed milk. Clean bathroom! Nice airflow with extra large front window being open.

Chao Mami is def more hip and modern than most traditional Pho places. Though decor is chill, their chairs have no back support and awkward for hanging the winter jackets. Service is 5 stars with young friendly and efficient staff. They offer different lunch special on weekdays and their happy hour specials include a $10 Pho option. I personally prefer Pho from more traditional Vietnamese restaurants with more rich tasting broth. I would be curious to return again during lunch and try their rice dishes. Happy hour menu is from 2-6pm with cold drinks options and appetizer specials such as duck sliders and spring roll. This is a modern Pho place that offers attentive service and chill music.

Really lame vegetarian pho -- this is what my review is based on…read more I stopped in for lunch on a Wednesday after noticing they had a vegetarian pho ($14.50 for a small; $15.50 for a large). It does not come with tofu, so I added some (another $4!) to my small size. The pho came out in less than 10 minutes. The pho came with lots of veggies (lots of broccoli, plus cauliflower, carrot, celery, white onion and green onion), plus lots of rice noodles, and tofu. Of course, the broth is usually what makes or breaks a pho, and this was one of the most low-effort, lamest vegetable broths I've tried in Greater Vancouver (and I've tried over 90 pho places in the Metro area that have veggie pho options). In fact, I saw the woman fill up my pho bowl from the hot water dispenser. So, they don't even bother to have a proper veggie broth; they just base the broth on hot water, with maybe some salt and possibly some other spices? The broth tasted like barely salted water. Super lame. Embarrassing product to serve. The value is bad given the very lame quality. I like that they have a veggie pho option. The portion is big and you get lots of vegetables, though the lack of tofu is definitely a thumbs down given the already above average price for the pho. All in all, don't come here for veggie pho. 2 stars is very generous.

Since then though we've heard a few people say positive things about it so...we decided it was time to give it another try. Came here as a group of 5, and it was a last minute decision as we had originally planned to eat elsewhere but that place turned out to be closed on Sundays. With no reservation on a Sunday, we were asked to wait about 10 minutes. Not too bad of a wait, compared with another Vietnamese place that we'd driven by earlier which had a lineup out the door. A couple of people in our group had fried eggs on their dishes. The eggs looked good. Soft yolks and soft yolk is what I like to see. There was a Papaya salad that we shared amongst the table. This was OK for me. Wasn't thrilled with it. I ordered the Lemongrass Tofu on Vermicelli. I love that this restaurant gives the option of having it on Vermicelli. I'd been somewhere else earlier this year which also had Lemongrass Tofu but it was only served on rice, with no option of switching to Vermicelli. The Lemongrass flavor was strong. Very flavorful. Something in the dish though was quite spicy. It seemed a lot of other dishes on the table were also quite spicy. Hubby's Bun Bo Hue was extremely spicy but he still enjoyed the dish very much. My daughter and I both ordered the Sober Sunday drink which had Lychee, Kumquat and Lemon Juice. The drink was OK. Nothing to write home about. Our daughter just ordered the Tapioca Dumplings appetizer and then took bits and pieces from other people's orders. A spring roll and a couple pieces of Lemongrass Tofu from me, some beef and noodle from her dad...etc. The dumplings looked tasty. They looked like something I'd have ordered myself if I were still a meat eater. Overall, the food here is flavorful. It was a much better experience this time than the first time we came here. Personally though, I'd prefer them to tone down the spice or even eliminate the spice altogether. I don't like having to wipe my nose all the time because of having eaten something spicy, or having my lips burn.
