The service is terrible!! We waited 10 minutes for a server. I had to go to the hostess stand and tell them we hadn't seen anyone in ten minutes. Once the waitress finally arrived she took other guests orders first. We waited another 10 minutes for our waters. So a total of 20 minutes with nothing on the table. Wow.. once we received our food she never returned until the end with refills. We asked for Togo boxes and the check. We waited over 5 minutes for her to take the cash and then another 10 minutes for her to make change and come back. She did stop by after 5 minutes stating she needed to go get change from the bar... You've got to be joking? What were you doing the previous 5 minutes when you walked away and were no where to be seen? I'm so sick of horrible service being acceptable these days. I've done my time and lucky I no longer wait tables. But come on staff. We work hard to be able to go out. I'd like to have good service. read more

Ok normally I like Chuy's so this is really just a rating of their ability to provide services in a to-go or curbside capacity. Man they stink. We placed an order and were told it would be ready for pickup about 40 minutes later. Not a problem. We got there at the recommended time of pickup and waited over an hour past our pickup time. They refused to answer the phone calls or texts(their preference) when we tried to check on our food. The hostess continued to give placating remarks about how our food was "almost ready". Very popular eclectic atmosphere, crowded every evening. This location has a tiny weird parking lot but they've added more spaces in the back. Our party of eight waited 20 minutes then we got seats near the door in a funny curved booth with a red curtain. Jeri was a terrific server, very efficient. We had the enchiladas, taco salads, combo plates and margaritas. No beer on tap which is kind of strange. The food is interesting, not bad just different than the normal Tex-Mex. Salsa, jalapeño ranch and guac all good and fresh. Tres Leches cake very good. Total for three margaritas, one beer, three soft drinks, a tea, two taco salads, three combo plates, fajitas and two kids plates plus two desserts was $127.10 including tip. read more

Typically LOVE Chuy's however this time was NOT so great. Ordered online due to in house seating being closed for COVID-19 precautionary measures. I ordered the fajita family pack which came with basically everything, down to the chips and salsa. We always order fajitas from Chuy's. They're literally the best! But not this time. First of all the refried beans were burnt! Yes, they burned the beans and then tried to salvage them. Absolutely disgusting! Then they didn't give us chips. We had all the dips: salsa, queso and creamy jalapeño dip, but no chips! Chips may not seem like a big deal but it was the nail in the coffin when it costs $90 to eat there. It's a 30 minute round trip and when you're ordering for your family to eat at home and spending that kind of money you expect that the restaurant will take the time to make sure the food is cooked correctly and that you have everything in your bag that was ordered. Been to this location several times and have only had 2 separate issues, this one was what upset me. I had ordered a steak quesadilla and they brought out a mini steak taco plate and said that's what i had ordered.. obviously it's not we all know the difference between a quesadilla, tacos and burritos. So they took it back and like i figured just smushed it down and said it's a steak quesadilla but there was so much meat it looks like a taco... and it was also burnt. read more

Terrible service. When my mom and I walked in the hostess just stared at us and asked "how can I help you?" like we were in the wrong place or something.. Then she took us to a small very crowded area, literally dropped our menus on the table and walked away. I kinda brushed it off... Then my mom wanted to move a few tables away to a booth and so I asked the hostess and with an attitude and all rude she said "No. There's no server for that table cant you see?" Riddiculous service. We go to Chuy's every chance we get! You have to try their Creamy Jalapeno dip that comes with the chips! It is ranch dressing with jalapeno...YUMMY! Our favorites are the fajitas, Elvis Combo and Mexi-Cobb Salad. If you are an Elvis fan, this place is a must. You have to see the Elvis booth that is decorated with everything Elvis. It's great! Take a framed picture of your dog and get a free appetizer. They hang the pictures in the bar. read more

Chuys how you have fallen from grace. Came here fwith the family for my bday dinner. We got there around 730p on a Sunday and place was fairly busy. 30 min wait. No problem. We decide to pull a couple of tables together around the bar area and munch on some chipa. But guess what, they have no saucers for the salsa. Ok no biggie. We can ask someone. Trying to get a servers attention became a task. About 8 mins later finally flag one down who pulls some. Then we order some sodas for kids and waters for us. Another 7 mins order a beer takes another 10 our buzzer starts ringing by the time my brother got his drink. Btw one of the sodas never made it. Annoyed but hungry so decide to take our stuff to the table. Over 5 mins and server is not to be found. Finally he comes around and we get our order in and ask for creamy jalapeño and green chili. He comes back with wrong salsa. Ok let's just correct. We sit around munching on chips for 25 mins when order comes out. Apparently one of the plates was made wrong so they let rest of the food sit over 10 mins at the warmer and it tastes like it. Super annoyed but I taste ground meat in boom boom enchiladas. Yep it has beef in it mixed with chicken. Now I'm upset and server says well sometimes it happens with no offer to remake or anything . I hand him the plate back and say it shouldn't and I'm done eating. Manager comes out 5 mins later and says it was beef and she will take care of that plate. Chuys used to be one of my favorite tex mex places. Now I'm gonna have to find another option. read more

First off...our waiter Jeffy was a little schitzo...later we found out that he was pulling a double. When i suggested he take a shot, he agreed to take one after his shift. Went for a friends b-day celebration. Ordered one of their 'famous strawberry 'ritas' and split the chicken quesdadilla appetizer. It didn't come in slices, they made them look like chicken tacos w/white cheese. White people! Lol. But, they were GOOD!!! Oh, and the Strawberry Rita was delish, I had 3. Jeffy was nice and attentive. The decor was loud and obnoxious. Def not an authentic Mexi restaurant. They had spicy ranch dipping sauce for the tortilla chips that was good. Speaking of torts, there was a window guarding the little mexican ladies making the tortillas...who looked frightening. You know they performed santerias and I think the one on the left with a bun goes to the same curandera-emporium as my grandmother. A far drive from me, but if I were in the area, i'd get another 'rita and some green enchiladas, which another guest at my table had, b/c they looked delish. If you're looking for great food and fast service, this is the place for you. The chips are fresh and the salsa is delicious. The Monday Special is the best enchiladas that my husband has ever had! We've had the same waitress twice and I have to say she has given us the best service we have had during our stay in San Antonio, no matter where we have gone. If you get Lizzy, you're going to be VERY well taken care of! Try the margaritas. The selection is great and everything is very tasty! The portions are big, so come hungry! The atmosphere is really nice and there's a nice outdoor patio that can be used when the weather isn't as unpleasant as it has been since we've been in town. My daughter and I had a bad experience last night. Although we knew it would be busy on a Saturday, there were huge parties around us getting their food before we did. Our server, Caleb, apologized for the kitchen being slammed, but why were big parties getting served then? When the food came, it was cold. We simply asked for to-go boxes and drinks because we were tired by this point. Caleb brought one box at a time, and we never got our drinks! On the way out, witnessed him talking and laughing with other servers instead of bringing the to-go cups! To top it off, my card was overcharged! I left this guy a $5 tip giving him the benefit of the doubt, and he added another dollar according to my bank account! Chuys management, you will be getting a call today. read more

I went in skeptical, thinking to myself, "here is another theme restaurant with more emphasis on show than food." I was almost right on. The food is okay; prices reasonable. Entrees ranged between $7-$12 with $6-$8 appetizers. The free chips and salsa were great; salsa was fresh and safe for the kids to try if you know what I mean. The queso is as good as i've had in San Antonio. I wasn't impressed with the nacho appetizer as the large chips seemed greasy. The tortillas, however, were fresh, hot and aromatic. I had the steak burrito and my wife had the taco salad. Portions were good. The steak marinade is awesome with that perfect grilled flavor. Some criticism for the cleanliness of the mens bathroom. It was odorous and not well kept. I don't go to a place because of the bathrooms, but in my world, if you cannot keep the bathroom clean, what does that say about your kitchen? All that being said, I will give another try as the staff was friendly, the service great, and the atmosphere kept my interest. read more

Ok I'm not giving points for most of their food, but they get 4 stars for their great happy hour. Monday-Friday from 4-7pm $3.50 margaritas $2.25(?) Beers and FREE nacho bar. Their queso is pretty good and their ground beef (that we mix with the queso) is great and I love their thin chips. Eating wise, the fajitas are great, but everything else is meh. Got there just before happy hour ended for free chips, salsa, queso, and beans. Thy have really thin, light chips which I thought were great. Drink specials weren't the best but the martini margarita for $7 wasn't half bad. The atmosphere is like a Mexican themed Applebees. Service was good. I ordered the fish taco plate. Nothing close to authentic, but had it's own unique style. I'm guessing this is "Tex-Mex." The grilled fish was far better than the fried. The flour tortillas were fantastic, yet they should be using corn tortillas for a fish taco. I'd like to keep coming back to this place to try different dishes. read more

It's not authentic that's for sure. Good Tex-Mex, although certain portions of the meal were lacking. My wife's tortilla soup was lacking flavor. The salsa for the chips wasn't that good. After living in Albuquerque for 11 years, it is very difficult to find some Mexican food in San Antonio that has a "kick" to it. Chuy's offers a great variety, including dishes that include green chile sauce that is similar to what you would find in New Mexico. I get the Elvis Presley Memorial Combo plate and they let me modify it by putting on green chile sauce instead of the other sauces. A layer of green chile sauce on top of their red ranchero sauce . . . it's a beautiful thing! Their chips are the best, but I'm not a fan of their salsa - too much cilantro, but when you're selling to a Tex-Mex crowd, that's what you're going to serve. The wait staff is always polite and cheerful and the food comes out quick - an important point when you have young children! Thanks to Chuy's management for taking over the Camino Ranch location across from The Forum shopping center - a nice short drive from home. read more

So, I might be a terrible person and went in right as it was closing, but we walked in at I kid you not 9:53, we apologize that we came in so late and that we already knew what we were going to eat. The hostess was gracious and sat us down quickly and gave us our menus. We waited there for probably 10 minutes until a frizzy haired waitresses tells us. "Oh sorry, we are closed. We can offer you drinks but no food." My wife and I were starving after a long days work and weren't about to fill up on drinks. I don't know how these guys do it. But at least lock your doors at 10 and serve everyone in your restaurant if they came in before you close. We were gonna be so quick and everything. We have come here regularly. The food is pretty good. I enjoy the Deluxe Enchiladas and my husband will eat anything so long as he has some creamy jalapeno to dip everything in. Most of our experiences here have been good (aside from a wait which we have come to expect). HOWEVER.... WE (my mother, father, husband & son) ate here on Friday evening (6/19) and due to a wait, we took first available, which meant we were seated on the patio. Our server was good, very attentive, but definitely NEW to serving, so I don't blame him. As we were enjoying our chips and salsa (and creamy jalapeno) we started noticing a couple of wasps buzzing around. My husband has been allergic to bee stings his whole life, and I have a toddler that may or may not be as well. So, my husband is ok with it, because he doesn't feel like it's important enough to say something. But then I look up and notice that there is not only ONE, but THREE WASP NESTS up in the roofing of the patio. My father did say something to the waiter and pointed out the nests. The waiter asked if we wanted to move.... but honestly there wasn't anywhere to move and he seemed to be offering us another table on the same patio that had just opened up. With wasps in the air above my head, I was barely able to enjoy my food. Having worked in the food industry in the past I would have expected a visit from a manager, or at least some attention from a manager and a meal or two comped or desert offered or something. read more
