Chuy's was an all-around a-okay experience. I wasn't blown out of the water, but it was cute and their happy hour specials are pretty economical. Would come back again - especially for their yummy french fries. PROS: -Their Happy Hour special is fantastic! Not only do they have discounts on alcoholic drinks as well as some discounted food, there's a "free" nacho bar with chips, queso, beans, and meats that you can grab servings from as much as you want. If you're especially curious about their queso, this is a great time to give it a try (and the server even says as much). -Great TexMex options. If you're used to a standard Tex Mex place, you can find something to eat here. Tacos, enchiladas, burritos, nachos, french fries, etc. The spice level can be customized by changing the various sauces they use here - and they'll offer tastings of their sauces before you order as well. -Interior offers a lot of feelings of privacy. There are lots of walls separating the various areas of the restaurants with large, open doorways between them. This means that, despite having lots of seating, it doesn't feel like you're just in a giant room with lots of other people. -Great location. Chuy's is right across the street from the giant Fairfield Commons mall. It has its own large parking lot, and it makes it pretty simple to just stop in for some food after you've finished a long shopping day - or just easily stop in because it's decently easy to get to off of the nearby highway. -Good seating options. They have smaller tables, larger tables (great for large families), and booths. The booths were nice and comfy. -Service was a-okay. We never received any water refills, but we never asked for any. He checked in semi-often, and he was very nice and great about explaining Chuy's as it was our first time here. Food came out quickly, and our drinks came out decently quickly too. -Complimentary chips are pretty delicious. Light and fluffy. They're best when served warm. Our first batch was room temp, but our refill was noticeably warm. CONS: -It seems like a lot of people love their queso, but I'm just not really that into it. It's not a *bad* queso by any means - especially as an enchilada topping or on top of tacos or anything. I'm just not that in-love with it when its on its own. It's a lot thinner and runnier than I'm used to, and it drips off the chips (when used as a dip) really easily. I'm used to a queso having a lot more cream and thickness to it, so this was definitely surprising. -Multiple pieces of silverware in our "sanitized for your safety" bags had dried food on them. Our server was apologetic and grabbed new ones for it, but seemed unfazed. I'd imagine this is a semi-regular occurrence for them. Just make sure to check your silverware before eating. read more

i am a absolute fan i must say. this is a true Texmex place, originated in Texas everything i have tasted here so far is so amazingly great. i missed the official yelp event for this chain in Texas and i was pretty sad about that since i heard so many great things about this place`s food, so as soon as i saw it here in Ohio i needed to come in and see what hype was all about. this location is right by a mall so parking is plenty, just dont guarantee that you will find parking super close to the restaurant door as this place is always very busy. as a tip if you can just sit at the bar cause the wait for a table can be pretty long and the bar always seems to be available. also a bonus about sitting at the bar is that there are plenty of dog photos and art about dogs in the bar room it is pretty cute, i called it the puppy room. the entire place is very thematic and pretty latin looking, they also have an outdoor sitting area that looks pretty nice for the hot weather to come by and have a margarita now lets get to what really matters. THE FOOD. the traditional chips and salsa those are a stand alone for sure, the chips are thin ad delicious, light, so light that you wont stop eating them, the salsa is spicy but also you will not be able to stop. the drinks: MOJITO - pretty ok but nothing special really, the great thing about it that the drink is served in a pint glass so you will have plenty to drink. KING`S PUNCH - this one is another giant (i mean this place is originated in Texas so, go big or go home) this is definitely my go to drink when i come over here. this is fruity drink super refreshing this is the truth girlie drink. Queso - OMG best queso i have had so far in life!!! the queso here deserves an award! TEX MEX ENCHILADA- this enchilada comes with a sauce that reminds me of a mole sauce, the rice and beans on the side and inside the enchilada some great tasting and super stringy cheese. this was a great dish for sure, plenty of food that you may also be able to bring some home depending on how hungry you come in. MAKE YOUR OWN ENCHILADA- also served with rice and beans this one you choose the sauce as well as the stuffing inside the enchilada. i made mine with cheese and queso sauce, this was perfection! this dish is also plenty large for sharing or to take some home after being super full. a side note: JALAPENO RANCH - this is a little sauce listed on the sauces of the menu, this one is also perfect to dip your chips in it, so keep that in mind when your chips and sauce come in. TRES LECHES CAKE - the size of this thing! you can probably share this desert with about 3 ppl! it is so big and amazing! i loved this desert so much that every time i come here i just want to eat that after my enchiladas! but we need to look out for our bikini bodies so use caution cause this cake is dangerous!! my overall impression here is amazing, they have great staff, some awesome decor that your bring you to the folkloric world of Mexico, the prices that are so super good for the portions you are being served, the tastes! the food is glorious and to top it off the military discount! i am a fan!!! read more

Visited for dinner while meeting up with some colleagues in the area. We were seated quickly in a open area with an upbeat atmosphere. When greeted by the wait staff we were handed a fresh basket of chips and two dipping bowl. Just a warning that the white stuff is not queso, it's some ranch type dip. The red salsa was fresh and had a nice kick of spice. Like most Mexican style restaurants, the menu was extensive. If you struggle to order from those menus already, well just know that Chuy's like to brand some of the menu items with their name. The food came out quick, hot and actually no too terribly sloppy. I had to stuff my face with chips and salsa. The bowl was never empty and my self restraint went out the window. I couldn't help myself Shortly after, the sever came back to take our order. I've been to both Chuy's in Dayton a few times now. I really love their chips and salsa, the chips are fresh fried and very light and crispy! For entrees I'm a sucker for their nachos, each one is made individually versus the giant pile approach so you get a perfect bite each time and no soggy chips. I had the fajita beef on them today and have to say that will prob be my go to from now on. Other favorites: green hatch steak burrito and chicka chicka boom. Given how much I enjoy the food we unfortunately haven't been impressed with the service. It is a struggle to get anything and the staff doesn't check in frequently. If they could improve that I'd rate it higher for sure. read more

I really, really wish the Chuy's in Dayton would improve their service. I want so badly to enjoy eating here since I love Tex-Mex but I am consistently let down by bad service. Their salsa can also be hit or miss but today it was spicy so that was good. I can consistently recommend ordering the nachos as they are delicious! They make them on individual chips versus piling all he toppings on so you get a good amount of each ingredient in every bite. My friend and I split the appetizer sampler and it was TONS of food with quesadillas, queso, nachos and flautas. The flauta filling is a little on the bland side so I wouldn't order those on their own but as part of the sampler it was fine. Oh Chuy's. As a huge fan of Mexican food, you do not wow me in the least. The few times I'm had dinner here, the food is always dry and extremely bland. I have to smoother everything in queso just to get some flavor up in here..... BUT I sure don't hate your happy hour! The Nacho Cart is pretty great, offering nacho chips of course with a variety of salsa, meat, refried beans, and even queso to top. And did I mention this Nacho Cart is complimentary during happy hours....yes, as in FREE! Drink specials aren't necessarily the best happy hour deals, but when you pair that with free build-your-own nachos, it evens out. I went in for some drinks and to try out the nacho car everyone was raving about. The waitress was great! She was friendly, fast, & answered any questions we had. The drinks were good but the nacho car was underwhelming! I expected there to be toppings for nachos but the cart only has chips, ground beef, queso, & refried beans. The beef was warm at best and the queso was not good! I didn't try the beans because I'm not a fan of them but they didn't look appetizing. On another note I did enjoy the amazing salsa and the jalapeño sauce they give at the table! I couldn't stop eating it!! The salsa was so fresh and just a little spicy which is fine for me. I had a great time at Chuy's! The neon lights and framed pictures of Elvis definitely look inviting. The entire restaurant looks like a traditional 1950s diner with a Tex-Mex twist! The bar looks bright and cheery with cute animal prints. My friendly, charming waiter helped me with my menu choices and refilled my water several times. I ordered a chicken chalupa and taco plate. Another waiter informed me of the 4-7pm happy hour! I enjoyed the chips with the spicy salsa and the jalapeno cream dressing! Mix the guacamole on top, and it tastes so comforting. Located by the Fairfield Mall, Chuy's is the perfect destination to relax with some Tex-Mex and a margarita! I am so glad that the mall is expanding and developing its dining options! The waiters are pretty nice and friendly, the only complaints I had was that the sprite tasted like it had a mix of fountain water in it. The waiter smelt like sweaty cigars, it was a weird body oder. I found a tiny piece of hair in my food which to be fair is sometimes hard to avoid. I'm so excited to try this place out. It's the Tex-Mex place I've been pining for. The queso is delightful and I could drink their salsa. Just put that stuff in a mug, it's fresh and limey and delightful. Very fresh chips and they make the tortillas in house. The enchiladas were great, the shredded chicken is a little bland on its own but the mammoth taste of all of their sauces makes up for this. The taco meat is great and not greasy or over seasoned, it's just right. Definitely going to be a regular place for us to check out. My boyfriend and I live in Canton, Ohio but I was originally from the area so I was excited to take him to the biggest mall I've ever been to. After a day of walking we had gotten pretty hungry, and noticed this place on the way in, and saw how busy it was. It must be good if it's that busy! I took the time to read the reviews on yelp before going in. Since it was mostly positive, I was happy to give it a try. My first thought: THIS PLACE IS LOUD. Don't get me wrong, I know that it was busy and everyone was talking. But it felt like they were trying to blare music over everyone's conversation. So that made it a bit unpleasant. The inside has a lot of fun decor and is very spacious, including outdoor dining. We sat behind a little window where we were able to watch the tortillas on a hot flattop as it was spinning around. I noticed the cook standing there the whole time was eating. Sanitation-wise, that's a big no-no. I highly recommend the manager check into that. Our server was crazy busy, but she did her job well. She gave a couple of recommendations and she kept our chips stocked at all times. However, also curious about the sanitation of using a large, plastic ice scoop and go from table to table and pour chips into the baskets. The manager may also want to follow up on that before the ODH gets their hands on that. The salsa they give with the chips is a little spicy. I like spicy, but other people may not have a taste for it. The chips were thin but it was pleasant even just on their own with a slight saltiness. I got the queso dip with them too, and that was definitely worth it (even though it was a little messy). The main dishes we ordered were pretty pleasant and I really cant complain about the food otherwise. Also at my own personal preference. I was unconformable when I received the silverware in a paper bag that had a bunch of religious sayings on it. I don't understand what religion has to do with a place like this? I don't live in the area and I don't visit often but I don't think I would come back even if I was in the area. I feel like there are plenty of other businesses in the area with much more to offer. 3/5 stars for good service, but ok food, with some questionable decisions. read more

So my family and I decided to eat here, though we're not normally drawn to any chain restaurant if we can help it. We were seated fairly quickly, which is a plus. Then a different server came out to give my wife her beer and actually tried to play tug of war with it. This whole time they're playing terrible 80's music at decimals high enough you have to shout across the table. Finally we order. Our food takes forever to come out. Literally. I'm writing this from a void that exists beyond the end of time. The food is nothing more than you're average Tex-Mex restaurant chain food served up by people who can't make grilled cheese without reading directions. Then they double charge us for my sons tacos not one but twice, which makes me very upset, because like millions of people in America's shrinking middle class, I'm worried about money, but instead of talking openly about it and advocating for sensible economic policies, I am writing this very angry review (not that I could talk openly about it because Pat Benatar is so loud in the background it wouldn't matter) So to sum it up this place is so lame, don't know why it has any stars this and terrible service and my own unresolved issues mean I WILL NOT BE COMING BACK. read more

First time in fours year since eating at a Chuys, loved every moment of it. We love spicy foods and this satisfied that flavor! We came during happy hour and there was a nacho "car" with free chili queso, ground beef, beans and chips. The stuffed chilie on the veggie combo was delicious and next time I want nothing but them! I gave them one star only because there was not a lesser option. I have eaten at many Chuy's locations and this is the only time I left with negative thoughts. I was a regular at the original in Austin back in the day and I am deeply saddened by the experience that I had tonight. I will not humiliate my server by calling her out by name but will say she has extremely bad manners interrupting me on an important telephone call to push my drink order. She did everything that she could to make me uncomfortable and feel unwelcome. The management of this location knows less than nothing about managing a restaurant since they were out of rice and flour tortillas (Tex-Mex restaurant running out of rice and tortillas is the equivalent of a hamburger restaurant running out of hamburger patties) I will not visit this location again and recommend others do likewise. read more
