I always order online. Beans and rice. That's it. That's the only vegan thing they have. The beans look like diarrhea or vomit. Every time I eat there I have the reaction I have when I ingest dairy which is coughing, excessive mucus and I have had food poisoning symptoms from it before as well. There shouldn't be any dairy in my no-cheese beans. They never disclose any dairy products used and in fact they reassured me there's no cheese so no dairy. I have been vegan for two years now but I'm starting to think I've actually been deceived this whole time! I got horribly sick eating here multiple times but my boss likes to eat lunch here. The waitress told me to leave off the sauces, they tend to be spoiled and when I did I was fine. Rubin the manager was in the back screaming at people multiple times both in Spanish and English. It's very crowded to wait by the door, they do have a waiting area with a bench but they dont want you to wait there, they prefer you stand in the doorway. September 6, 2023 - our family get together, a group of 14, came in for dinner. Our ages varied from 18 months to 87 years. Our waitress was great. She took beverage orders person by person. And she was able to overcome the loud music and take our orders, granted it took going couple to couple. We did not want separate tags/checks. Went with a colleague during lunch time while in town. We both asked our server what she recommended. She provided suggestions for us. It was not too busy because we arrived at the start of lunch. Our server was nice and as I mentioned helpful. I requested the jalapeño sauce with the chips. That sauce is so yummy. I ordered the lunch special which had a burrito and taco and I got double rice. It was very filling and I enjoyed it. I only ate the burrito because I wanted to order the Tres Leches for dessert. I love that dish. It is one of my favorites. Hubby and I visited Chuys on a Wednesday night. We were immediately seated at a small table near the kitchen. Since we arrived during happy hour on a week day, we got free chips with Chipotle Ranch and a spicy salsa. Our waitress Katie answered all of my questions including if the guacamole was mixed with sour cream (dairy problems). I ended up ordering the combo fajitas with no cheese or sour cream but with extra guacamole. Hubby ordered the Comida Combo. The food was fantastic, but a little spicy for me. (WTF) They claim to make everything fresh and have someone pressing tortillas all day. What a joke. Ceiling had wooden fish hanging from the ceiling, they may have been cute one time when it opened, now as you look the hangers are full of dust collected over the years. I ordered a Fajita Beef Burrito with the Creamy Jalapeño sauce. Every aspect of the meal was packed with flavor of its own and did not require adding anything to make it pop. All the ingredients worked well together and none of them overpowered one another. Bravo! Note: Portion sizes are HUGE! We also ordered a "Grandpas Brew" (pictured in my review.) I've never experienced a margarita quite like it before. Between the fresh ingredients and the accurate and proper balance of everything combined I have to say it is well worth the money. Don't be intimidated by the price tag, if you want something amazing to compliment your meal, this is the beverage that will do the trick! (Orange or Lime, both are amazing) Restaurant itself was very clean and well kept. Decor and energy was on point. Fun family environment. Our waiter was drunk or high or both and it was somewhat entertaining. I won't bore you with all the details but LMAO when he brought a kid the wrong meal and insisted he try it before bringing him what he ordered in the first place in case he liked it. Really...that happened. This restaurant is a big supporter of our local Fisher Houses so I really wanted to like them. Honestly...Taco Bell is better. #ell...El Paso from the freezer is better. I think they've earned a solid 4/5 for their awesome nachos because they have been nothing but extremely satisfying. Especially if you order a side of Queso to really take them to the next level. Now they don't just give you a pile of chips. Instead, it comes with extra large tortilla chips that have each been completely loaded with all the toppings. One is about the size of your hand. When you take a bite, you'll get to enjoy all the toppings and flavors. And they don't fall apart because the melted shredded cheese seems to hold it together. But personally, other parts of this restaurant failed me. First, the cheese enchiladas are inconsistent. On my first trip they were brought out hot and gooey. But on my second visit, the cheese inside was barely melted. Also, these enchiladas are automatically made with corn tortillas. So if you want flour instead you have to request it. Also, on my first visit I asked if they served tamales because I was craving them. The waitress assured me they did and took my order. But what arrived at the table was a Chile relano. I mentioned my confused and the waitress apologized explaining that was the closest they had to tamales. What??? Very strange. I ate it anyway and it was fine. Just not what I was wanting. However, my husbands' one true love is Tex Mex and this is the best he's ever found outside of TX. He just loves their fajitas. And I have to say I enjoy them to. They make they tortillas fresh and you can taste it. The manager here is super nice and welcoming. He checked in us and my husband really enjoyed the TX banter. Service is mostly pretty good but does slow down when they're busy. I know we will return again soon. I think I'll stick to the nachos and skip the enchiladas.
