I should've reacted to my first impulse when I walked in. Leave! Now! The booming, loud and annoying music was almost unbearable. I stayed and ordered the #3 lunch combination. The chips were good, but I much prefer a thinner white corn chip. The red salsa was very good; the creamy stuff was bland. The rice and beans were above average. The guacamole was a mess. It was bland, and the whole tostada--with guacamole, lettuce and chopped tomatoes--was slathered in something sweet and weird. I just pushed it aside. Excellent crispy taco shell, but the carne molida was dry, overcooked and disappointing. The cheese enchilada was awful. Wrong cheese. I prefer (correct) American, not cheddar. But it was good quality cheddar and not that stringy, bubble gum consistency stuff I run into occasionally. There was only a trace of what I assumed was supposed to be the chili con carne gravy (per the menu) so I requested more gravy which was thin, bland and somewhat tomato tasting, not chili con carne sauce. I ate the rice, beans, taco and a couple bites of enchilada--and left hungry. The service was outstanding.

During that time, it has easily become one of my favorite restaurants in all of Austin. I absolutely love the food and the rooftop patio that overlooks downtown/the park, and it will forever be somewhere I continue to go, especially during happy hour. I have tried every vegetarian item on their menu, and while everything is great, my personal favorites are: - cheese enchiladas with mole verde (I get this 99% of the time because they are my favorite enchilada in town) - the chile rellano (it's listed in the sides, but I promise you that it can be a meal in itself) - their rice (comes with many of their plates or inside of their enchiladas) is actually soooooo good and one of the things I look forward to - queso (nothing different about it, but it's just a really good standard queso) - flaquita (spicy watermelon margarita; I don't need to say more) - sangria blanca (super refreshing) Up until a few months ago, I would have given this place five stars, but I've noticed a decline in service that is making me knock it down to a four. For example, they used to give free chips and salsa the second you sat down, but the last three times, I've had to ask them for it (pro tip: ask for chips and salsa!!). I've also noticed slower and less attentive service. Overall, I still love El Alma, and when it comes to food and vibes, it has withstood the test of time. I recently visited Chuy's for the first time to try their Tex-Mex cuisine. The restaurant itself has a fun and vibrant atmosphere, and despite being busy, it offers plenty of space and parking, which is always a plus. I was seated at a booth, though the seat was a bit wobbly, which was a minor inconvenience I didn't bring up to the staff. The service, however, was great. My waitress was friendly and checked in on me regularly. I decided to order the taco and quesadilla combo. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite meet my expectations. The flavors were a bit underwhelming, and it just didn't resonate with me. I found myself missing the comfort of a Taco Bell meal, which I think suits my taste better. Overall, Chuy's is a lively spot with solid service, but the food didn't leave a lasting impression for me personally. read more

This is both a great place for Tex-Mex and a great place to bring the kids. Mom and dad can enjoy some margaritas, and it's already so loud in the restaurant that no one really notices the kids being loud. If you go to Chuys, particularly on a weekend, expect to wait a little bit before you get seated. That's okay though, because there is a nice waiting area and bar. Be sure to get some of the jalapeño ranch sauce to dip your chips in. If you're a big eater Chuys is the place for you. The portions are big and the flavors are great. The green chili sauce is hot and delicious. We go to both this Chuys and the original on Barton Springs and both are great. read more

When I first moved to Austin, LOVED Chuys off Barton Springs. The only thing was it was always crowded and we always had to wait a long time. So when the one opened down south, I was excited. For the most part, it is still the same old Chuys. The staff is usually very friendly, the food is usually always good. The reason for 3 stars is because there has been MULTIPLE times where, even when the place was almost empty, we still had to wait around for a long time. And then it would take forever to get our food, or even a refill. I think if they step up their game a little, I would def take it up a star. read more

I had a disappointing experience at Chuy's. The menu was scratched, and the Shirley Temple was unflavored. Service took a long time, and they brought ranch dressing without us asking, then left without explanation. When I requested another Shirley Temple, they brought me Sprite instead. The food was mediocre at best. On top of all this, the churros were overpriced at $6.99 for a serving of 6 small ones, essentially costing about a dollar per 1 inch churro. However, it's worth noting that the outside of the restaurant was very nice and scenic. read more

My kiddo turned 16 on April 27th and she so wanted to go to Chili's - as did I because it holds special San Antonio memories growing up. My daughter had eaten your Triple Dipper dish at the Chili's Marble Falls location by the lake, with other athletes from San Juan Diego Catholic High School after their District Track & Field Meet. A great celebration was had by all. From start to finish, we had THE BEST, most delightful, most relaxing, most wonderful experience we've had in a long while. Upon walking to the door, your darling Hostess, Jennifer, smiled as she held the door open for us as if to say: "We're glad you're here." WOW. Total vibe setter. She set the tone and made us feel immediately welcomed. We chose a booth in the bar area and I immediately settled in to the comfy seat. The A/C was perfect and flatscreens adorned the walls. I loved the vibe and looking around my senses absorbed all the activity and hustle and bustle. One thing stood out. Every employee genuinely appeared to love what they were doing. They were smiling, walking with purpose, and loving being there. Drumroll...then Kylie arrived with a big smile, endearing demeanor warm personality, and genuinely good soul. She greeted us and took our drink orders. She is absolutely such an asset to the Chili's brand. What a phenomenal human. Plus, I watched her really rocking the bar, serving her customers seamlessly. She extended impeccable customer service. I ordered the salad and Chicken Crisper sandwich - wow. The salad was perfectly sized and super chilled. It tasted so good and of course, left me wanting more. But, alas, when my Chicken Crisper arrived, I was astounded at its size. WOW - so big, and so perfectly cooked. I could only eat half. The fries were hearty with a nicely cut large size. My birthday girlie ordered the Triple Dipper and it did not disappoint. The portions were huge. She took half of hers home, too, for lunch the next day. I loved Kylie asking us if we wanted a happy birthday sang to my daughter when they brought the Chocolate Molten Lava cake out, but she smiled with a no thank you because she does not like being the center of attention (smile). Ohmygosh, it arrived and it was sooooo huge. It filled the entire caramel drizzled plate with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream in the middle. We giggled at how full we both were but mustered room to each squeeze in a couple bites. And, Leslie, the Manager even stopped by our table to say hi. Another WOW. This leadership speaks volumes to me about the kind of company Chili's is, and who they employ. Great hires who care about their customers. I said to Leslie, "So often a company only hears what does not go well, but I'm here to tell you we had a fantabulous experience." We packed up our food into a colorful Chili's to go bag, and I hugged Kylie goodbye with profuse thanks and gratitude. We shall forever remember April 27, 2026 because of the beautiful dining experience your team extended to The Potyka Girlies. By the way, my glass of Chardonnay was excellent. I thought I knew what I was going to order, but I pursued the menu anyway because fomo and was swayed by the *new* bacon ranch loaded nachos. I really tried to eat the whole portion because it was so dang good especially with guac but ended up taking a third of it home. This location was dressed up so cute for Halloween and they delivered the most attentive service. They brought everything we needed without us asking including new waters before we ran out. Only had to ask for to-go boxes at the end and they were speedy with it like the rest of the service.

We got a burrito to share among the two of us, and it was enough for dinner by itself. I believe we got the normal size, though we filled it with a ton of items and the chicken fajita. I liked it well enough, I would probably give it a 3.5/5. It's tasty and a good deal. If they'd grill/heat the tortilla it'd be a lot better, not sure if that's an option.

I'll come back to try different things, but this current rating is just on the breakfast tacos,…read morewhich are merely average. I had chorizo and egg on flour. Tortillas were meh. Filing was OK, but not the greatest eggs. Only $2.25 though. On the other hand, the red salsa is fabulous. Tastes very fresh. Nice spice. Good chips. Everything is over priced though on the main menu. Edit. Won't be back. Just got my bill and they charge for chips and salsa. Come on now. No one does that.

The ONLY reason you should dine here is you don't want to sit for hours in the Discount Tire waiting room. That's why the GF and I decided to try it. I'll point out above average salsa paired with mediocre yellow corn chips. Her taco salad for the price was a bit off putting. Minimal lettuce and oversized tomato slices. Two micro slivers of avocado. Cheese applied with tweezers? I had just had a taco salad the day before and it was twice the ingredients for the same price. Had better balance lettuce with diced tomato, huge dollops of guacamole and sour cream. She asked me to mention the beef fajita meat was quite tasty. Mole can be a touchy subject with me. I spent my first 10 years on yelp cataloging every chicken enchilada mole dish in my travels. This one was less chocolate and more spice. More black in color versus deep brown in color I'm used to. Service was MEH.

The flour tortillas are good and not hard or flat and don't taste like they were cooked on a flat top full of grease. The potatoes have a slight seasoning not too over powering. Definitely should try this place for breakfast, if you haven't already!
