We stopped into Chuys on a busy night, and the service was just okay, the food definitely made the visit worthwhile. The staff was doing their best to keep up with the crowd, and although things moved a little slowly at times, everyone was when they made it to the table. Kids loved the decor of the restaurant. Especially mesmerized by the hubcaps on the ceiling. Food was good, portions were plentiful. The Elvis Green Chile fried chicken breast breaded with Lays potato chips was dry and needed a little more sauce/seasoning. read more

My family and I were in the mood for some Chuy's so my husband placed an order online and then drove up curbside and got our food. This time around we shared the Fajita Chicken Quesadillas, Panchos, and the Chuy Chuy Churro Bites. For my own dish I ordered the Roasted Chicken Burrito. Plus we ordered a dozen flour tortillas. I enjoyed the fajita chicken quesadilla. It had chicken and lots of cheese and onions. The Panchos were good. They had plenty of beans, cheese, and fajita chicken. The Chuy Chuy Churro Bites were delicious. I enjoyed every bite. The churros with some caramel and vanilla ice cream from home were a nice sweet after dinner treat. I chose the roasted Chicken Burrito for dinner as it's my favorite. I love the bean, cheese, and chicken combo and with the creamy jalapeno sauce topping it was delicious. The Green Chili Rice that comes with it on the side is good. It has a slight flavor to it and when I ate it with my burrito it was super filling. This time around we got our full order which includes a dozen flour tortillas that we love. Yay! Overall Chuy's ordering and pickup process was quick and easy and the food was really good. read more

My first meal as soon as I landed in Austin! And our server was full of warmth and hospitality! I forgot her name but she's young and helpful - just the right balance of letting us have our convo and being helpful. Kudos to her! We had a great meal! The spicy jalapeno ranch dip is the best with a basket of fresh tortilla chips! I had the chicken enchilada with the Tex mex sauce. Very good! It was shredded chicken with the red Tex mex sauce. Simple but seasoned well and delicious! Can't wait to go back! read more

Their food makes me sick. I think it may be the super processed oil they use. I can't give a great review because no matter how good it is I get a tummy ache. read more

We've been eating at Chuy's since the beginning. Knew Mike. Today's experience was so far from good, we 4 left really disappointed. I had Tacos Al Carbon, one beef one chicken. Cold tortillas and the beef was so chewy, I shared, we all sat there and gnawed. He had flautas, now with no sauce, but with dried up chicken, cold out side. Her relleno looked more like a corn dog than anything else. AND there was a HAIR in the jalapeno sauce. No plates with the guacamole, drinks took 10 minutes. We were there at 11:30 am and it'll be cold day before we go a block and a half to do that again. read more

Most of the food is not bad, but every-time I order quesadillas it always has a tiny spoon of cheese and like 4 small pieces of meat in the middle, which is so disappointing. A quesadilla is supposed to have queso in it, and this is just a couple tortillas with a bit of meat in it. read more

Enjoyed dinner with the family a few nights ago! What a great experience. Our server was fantastic! We sat in a cool room with an old car theme. There were hub caps covering the ceiling and old car photos along the walls. The food was exceptional! Great Tex Mex! Still one of my favorite Tex Mex restaurants in Austin. I had a cheese enchilada and a beef taco plate with rice and beans. Words can't describe how good it was. My wife had the flautas which she said were great! My brother had the beef fajitas! We'll be back for sure! read more

A little get together with friends for lunch. Service was slow, but otherwise excellent. Typical Tex-Mex vibes inside, but the random coconut trees in the middle give it something different. Creamy Jalapeño ranch dip for your chips is where it's at here! read more

Lively spot for a Friday night, they have outdoor heaters but was too windy. On a fall day it would be nice. Authentic Mexican vibe for a tex mex spot I feel. Food portions are high quality as it was a cheesy enchilada. Jalapeño ranch dipping sauce and fresh salsa to start was great too. Service was good as they didn't keep asking about an update and how we're doing to rush an order and flip a table. read more

I've been in Austin since 8/80 and have been going to Chuy's ever since, until today. The food has steadily been going downhill. Unfortunately, this place is just another victim of an Austin tourist trap! Our server was obviously on some form of stimulant. The food was haphazardly put today. Another Austin restaurant bites the dust! read more

Food is good. Not the best enchiladas but they chicken fajita tacos are good, especially with the jalapeño sauce. Drinks are good, a little small for my taste. Service seems to always be good. read more

Decided to try out this classic Austin restaurant with a local, and absolutely enjoyed the food and vibe at this location. As a vegetarian though, it was a slight struggle to find something to eat with a fairly limited vegetarian friendly menu! We ordered Guacamole and Queso in appetizers, and their Queso was really delicious. Very flavorful and went really well with those Tostada chips! I got the Tex-Mex Burrito Bowl without any protein, and the portion size was large enough to fill me up. The House Salsa was tasty, and so was my overall dish. Service was quick and food arrived within 20 minutes of ordering. It was a Saturday afternoon, and noise levels were slightly on the louder side at around 2 pm. A definite must try if you like Mexican food! read more

I'm disappointed in myself for not writing a review for Chuy's sooner. While it's no longer just a "Texas thing" (with franchises now all over the states), that doesn't stop me from coming back! Like Rudy's, Chuy's is a reliable, go-to spot that's always solid and consistently delicious. There's never a time when I don't recommend Chuy's to out-of-towners. If you're wanting a true Tex-Mex experience, Chuy's is the place. But don't ask me what's the correlation between Elvis & Chuy's... What to order: A mountain of Creamy Jalapeño for your chips (you'll thank me later) and for those who enjoy a little bit of everything, The Elvis Presley Memorial Combo. The Elvis Presley combo comes with three different enchiladas and a taco with all the fixings (rice and beans). Service: I've always had incredible service at Chuy's, but one service stands out above the others. I recently dined outdoors, and dinner service was absolutely insane. There was only one waiter, and wow--this guy was a total pro. It was magical to watch him work. He was calm, efficient, and seemed to glide through the service, even with children during dinner! read more

I've lived in this neighborhood for 15 years, and this Chuy's has fallen off a cliff over the last six months. I brought a friend from out of town because it used to be a fun, touristy place to show off. The food was embarrassing. The tacos were cold and soggy. The rice was far too salty. The chips were soft and greasy. The table wasn't clean. Service was slow. The restaurant wasn't even busy, so there was no reason for any of it. I ended up telling my friend that Texas food is usually much better than what we ate. This location needs new management that actually cares about quality. It's not the first time things have been subpar, but it will be the last time I roll the dice here. read more

No longer offering Charro beans only refried. Slowly becoming gringo-ized. No longer the Tex Mex if old Austin.

You can never go wrong with Chuy's. I would come solely for the creamy jalapeno sauce, it's so good. My go-to is the Tex-Mex enchiladas. It is smothered in sauce. The green Chile rice has just the right of kick. The Elvis Presley Memorial Combo is HUGE! A great value for the price. You're either going to leave with leftovers or needing to stretch out your pants. The staff (especially at the bar) are so nice and keep your glasses and chips filled. If your looking for a laid back environment with the Tex&Mex staples, you can find it here! read more

We ordered the appetizer platter, arrived early for pickup and we live 5 minutes away. The food was COLD, not warm and certainly not hot?

My boyfriend and I decided to give this Chuy's location a try since it was closer to where we were at instead of our usual spot, and overall, it was a decent experience with a few highs and lows. Let's start with the positives: the jalapeño cream sauce was absolutely amazing, and the queso was a solid hit too! Honestly, the dips alone were worth the trip. The atmosphere was lively and fun--exactly what you expect from Chuy's--with that quirky, Austin vibe. The place was packed, but we were seated quickly, and our waitress was incredible. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we were well taken care of. Now for the food. I ordered the Boom Boom Chicken Enchilada, and while the sauce was flavorful and the beans and rice were on point, the chicken itself was disappointingly dry. My boyfriend had the Elvis Platter, but we both agreed it lacked that bold Tex-Mex punch we were hoping for--it was a bit bland compared to what we're used to from Chuy's. That said, the meal was very affordable, and given the great service and overall vibe, I'd be willing to give this location another shot. Maybe it was just an off night for the kitchen, but I'm hopeful next time will live up to the Chuy's reputation. read more

Stopped by with family to have a quick early dinner today. Stephen was the name of the server on our receipt. Hopefully that was actually our server - he was amazing! Literally one of the best servers we've had in a long time. He checked on us regularly, was so attentive and considerate. Made sure the food was out quickly and the order was perfectly correct. My daughter in law even noted he was on his way to check in on us but saw we were in the middle of a conversation so he paused and circled back. He was friendly and respectful but not over the top - all around an excellent server and that always makes a restaurant experience enjoyable! read more

While I've never eaten inside here, we get takeout pretty frequently. The process online is super easy and it never really takes that long. Service is friendly and quick too. Their enchiladas with the green sauce are ok, I find them to be a but too wet/oily but they get the job done, and better than most tex Mex places around I think. I loooove their creamy jalapeno sauce though. And frankly that's why it gets 4 and not 3 stars. We just get this for takeout often to eat with food we make at home. In general Chuy's is above a stage for a chain texmex restaurant and probably will please most folks. Give them a try if you're in the area! read more

My husband and I had Chuy's catered for our May 2026 wedding and it was the best!! The service throughout the entire process was so easy and the team was so helpful! Our guests loved the food, it was a hit all around!! read more

We had been hearing so much about Chuy's since we moved here from out of state. Decided to give it a try, was sorely disappointed. First of all, the chips are stale, under salted, and so thin that I literally cut the roof of my mouth. Moving past that all of their soda pops taste like they went out to Barton Springs (you know which side I'm talking about) and scooped up that water and added a splash of flavoring. Lastly, the actual food we got (steak fajitas and a burrito) was flavorless, overcooked, and VERY unappealing to the eye. In terms of service don't even get me started. They're slow, lazy, not kind, and basically just throw your food on the table and walk away. The only redeeming feature is that there were many cute pups to look at on their walls. Other than that it isn't worth coming to check out. Save your money and go try an actual Tex mex restaurant. As always, thank you so much for taking time out of your beautiful day to read my review. I really appreciate it. Have a great rest of your weekend. Bye-bye. read more

Chuy's Tex-Mex is still consistently good and return to this location and others every month or two. This lunch visit had less customers mostly due to school is out and probably everyone on vacation. I enjoy dining in the bar but this time around decided on a table due to the lighter crowd. I noticed the main indoor dining area was much brighter where perhaps lighting was change out making it easier to read the menu and admire the nice portraits on the walls. I ordered the Deluxe Chicken Enchiladas and a Chuy's Famous Rita Swirl (Lime and Strawberry). The service was still great as usual and alway nice to look around for something new and different with the place like the t-shirt designs in front. The margarita was a little fruity and It took a while for the alcohol to kick in. My plate arrived and tried the enchiladas. I like the way the roasted chicken tasted with the deluxe tomatillo sauce and cheese making it very favorable. It was not spicy. The Mexican rice and refried beans were also good too. Just experienced the worst to go service. Food was way past ready but no one was there to give it to me. I got a beer so can't complain, my girlfriend got the strawberry margarita that was okay, just tasted like lime. The jalapeño ranch dip was good. Everything else was a let down. Just bland food, and the chicken flautas that came with the comida deluxe plate were cold. The guy who brought them out said someone else back there ate them so they brought more, maybe was a joke but wasn't funny biting into bland and cold food. Kind of sad for us not going out much. I love me some Tex-Mex and it was my first time at a Chuy's. I came here for my co-worker's goodbye happy hour since it's right down the street from our work place. Steve was our waiter, and let me tell you...Steve was working hard and still being attentive. This place was so busy!!! As expected for a Friday evening. Lots of families with kids running around, music playing, and lots of conversations. They kept the chips and dips coming because our food order took FOREVER to come out. Not sure what was going on in the kitchen. I think Steve was taking care of half the restaurant (what it seemed like) and was being so nice! Just by looking around, I could tell the staff was feeling a little stretched thin. Chips were tasty, hard to mess that up. Salsa and spicy ranch type of dip I've never had were both good too. I had the skinny marg, it had almost no tequila in it, but it wasn't sweet so I appreciated that. Steve did a great job at keeping up with our table because we kept having people coming in to say bye, stay a bit then leave. He would bring out the drinks and fresh chips. Now I honestly wasn't hungry by the time my food arrived because I was so full after eating 3 baskets of chips. I ordered the veggie enchiladas, and they were sad. 2 came with the order and the sauce tasted like it came out of a jar. The rice was dry and lacked seasoning....the beans didn't taste super fresh. I don't know about the lettuce/tomato off to the side. I did take it to go and it all tasted a little better a day after. I paid about $26 total, including my tip. Will I come back? If I have to for another work outing. read more
