This is the best Tex-Mex place in the area by far. I love it. You've got to get the enchiladas. The Classic Tex-Mex and the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Enchiladas are my favorites. I've also had the fajitas and taco salads here, and I was pleased, but I keep going back to my enchiladas. Their guacamole is also one of my faves from anywhere. It's so fresh. The salsa and queso are great too. And I love the crazy decor. The only bad thing is that during their busiest times on Friday and Saturday evenings, it's so hard to find parking!!!!! read more

This was my first time here and I must say I was very impressed. Our waitress was, Autumn, was very helpful and even brought out samples of the different sauces to try. Chuy's is another Austin transplant that seems to be expanding everywhere lately. If you're expecting some really authentic Mexican food, look elsewhere. What Chuy's does make is some really good Tex-Mex, and it's been one of my go-to places ever since I was in Austin. The salsa is exactly how I like it- lots of lime with a little spice. The girlfriend usually gets the baja shrimp tacos, and I switch between the tacos al carbon and the enchiladas. Try to make it during happy hour also. Way better than On The Border! It was my uncle's birthday this past Tuesday so we all decided to go to Chuy's for dinner. I have been visiting Texas from California and so far, I hadn't found any good Mexican food. However, Chuy's changed my opinion on Mexican food in the area. My uncle wasn't aware that we knew it was his birthday so we surprised him with a cake there. I called ahead and the staff there kept the cake in the fridge and brought it out when we were done with dinner to surprise him. The food and service was great! Our server's name started with a D...I cannot remember but he was SO amazing! When he first came to our table, he was so cheerful and outgoing. His great personality kept us happy and we had a great time cracking jokes with him. We ordered quite a few drinks. My dad and uncle order Bloody Mary's & it ended up being too salty for them so they ordered a different drink...when we got home, we noticed that our waiter comp.'d the bloody mary's. So sweet! For starters, we just ordered the queso which was delicious. For our dinner, some of us ordered the chicken fajita tacos, some of us enchiladas, a steak burrito, and chicken fajitas. Most of us loved our food. I really enjoyed my veggie enchilada with the ranchero sauce. The sauce was so flavorful! My uncle and his wife really enjoyed their enchiladas and chicken fajitas as well. The only meal people didn't like was the crispy grilled chicken tacos and the tacos al carbon. Both of them said the tacos were pretty flavorless. The only way it had any flavor was if you added the salsa but that was just tomato much, not very flavorful either. There wasn't much chicken in the tacos either. The Spanish rice here was quite flavorful as were the beans. Overall, we enjoyed our food but the service was even better! Our server was absolutely amazing. All of the staff there was really great! I was very impressed by the freshness of the ingredients of the enchiladas. the chicken was moist and tender, the cheese was flavorful and melted wonderfully, and the green sauce? Yum. I'm not a huge Tex-Mex fan, but a few friends suggested to come here for dinner yesterday. I had been here once before a few years ago, but I took my order to-go and never got a chance to really explore the interior of the restaurant and experience the service. Nice place with interesting decor. After waiting about 10 minutes during a peak dinner hour, we had a table in the far back room of the restaurant. I have to point out that the ceiling had a myriad of suspended rims and hub caps. They distracted me a rather large amount as I was eating. I'd say the whole restaurant is a collection of random, vintage knick-knacks (mostly automobile related). I often saw employees frivolously cleaning tables and keeping the floors clean. In the time that I was there, I could see that the employees valued cleanliness and time. The restrooms were spotless and the waitresses were constantly rushing back and forth to ensure that each table was comfortable. My only complaint is that the food took at least 20-25 minutes to come out, which felt rather long. We did get constant refills on water, beers ($3 beers and $3.50 for imported), and chips/salsa. Very pleasant, especially since our waitress had to take care of several tables at once. Food was good. Like I mentioned, I'm not a Tex-Mex person. Overall, quality was good and plates came out fresh and piping hot. Everything came out as described on the menu (but I did wish that they had pictures on the menu to make it easier for me). I ordered the Sunday special, which was the chicken enchiladas with refried beans and rice. Chicken was hand peeled and melted well with the cheese and sauce. I'm fairly certain that Chuy's doesn't make their food until you order it, which is probably why it took rather long to come out. The items were straight up fresh. I never really enjoy chain restaurants in Austin, but for some reason, they taste good when I eat them outside of Austin. I recently read an article on Mexican food and how the authenticity of it is picking up. Well, sometimes artificially-yellow cheese and simple chicken tortilla soup are oddly satisfying. Not to mention the fact that Arlington could use more Austin-decor places like Chuy's, with all of its gaudy novelties and colorful interior. Funny how a culture change can boost your dining experience. The green chile stew is a spicy, hearty mix of root vegetables and chicken. The chicken tortilla soup is a lightly seasoned broth with some chicken and avocado. These soups are nothing special, but they sure hit the spot. The chicka- chicka boom boom enchiladas are pretty jammin'. They are the quintessential Tex-Mex dish. Thick queso sauce on chicken enchiladas served with Mexican rice and lumpy refried beans: pretty much a winner in anyone's book. Popped in here for a quick lunch on a Sunday while I was making the long trek from Ft Worth to Mesquite. Cowboys game was on tv so I grabbed a seat at the bar. After I order the most interesting beer in the world, the bar tender proceeded to lay out special cowboy game menus. Of course, domestic beers were on special? Really dude, you couldn't have let me know before I settled in?? Pretty crappy form. I order the fajitas. Nothing special about them, fairly average. Service is always great at Chuy's. I love their chips and salsa. My friends always order the creamy jalepeno sauce with it. YUM. I always get their chicken enchilada with the fried egg on top. YUM. They always get the special of the day which is the fried chicken avocado thingy. They're always raving about it, so I want to go back and try that. We're definitely looking forward to going back there soon. Hopefully I'm not driving so I can order a drink. This is my mom and I's favorite place to share a meal whenever I'm back in Arlington. Lemme first preface that I'm not normally a fan of Tex-Mex food but I guess Chuy's has won me over! The location is really nice - in the Highlands - with lots of parking nearby. This place gets pretty busy in the evenings, not usually for lunch, but the wait time is always fairly short. The longest time we've had to wait was 15-20 minutes, but they give you a pager so you're free to browse the surrounding stores. The interior is quirky (in a nice way) with a Mexican flair. The wait staff has always been very nice and prompt, and the free chips are always piping hot out the fryer! I usually order the vegetarian enchiladas when I come, and the portions are pretty good size for the price. The food here is consistently delicious; even the refried beans were good, and I normally hate beans cooked that way! The only negative thing I have to say is that it gets really noisy sometimes if there are a lot of families and sometimes it's hard for conversation. But all in all, I love the festive atmosphere here, and always leave contently full! read more

I love Chuy's. When I dine in, the wait staff is awesome to me and my peeps. However when I order to-go, there is always confusion in the back. Once I waited 20 min to pick up my order which I called in 30 min prior to picking it up. My food was cold, it seemed like the left hand had no idea what the right hand was doing. The pick up option for to-go orders needs to be handled better, more organization or a better way to notify the folks in the back that "I am here for my damn food!" ....some thing like that. I have been wanting to try this restaurant. I love Mexican, especially Tex-Mex. When I arrived I was told that I could sit in the bar, which is what I wanted. The restaurant was reasonably busy but not on a wait. I was told I would be seated as soon as the booth was cleaned. I could see the booth from the door. I could hear the discussion among the hostess staff about why wasn't I seated. 15 min later I was seated. I inquired about a certain margarita on the menu that was made with 1800 Jose Quervo. I know a little about tequila but I inquired if 1800 was considered a more top shelf than Jose quervo gold. I was told yes. I wanted the 1800 margarita but wanted to substitute for quervo gold, not the upgraded 1800. I was told that it would be more money, but just a few cents, which was fine, but I didn't understand, ( It ended up being a $1 more, not just a few cents) But ok, for a few cents more, ill downgrade my tequila. It took almost 20 min to get my margarita. My server told me he had no idea what took so long. Now, mind you I was seated 10 feet from the bar and could see everything that went on. My drink was never made. I especially was taking note if the bartender was busy or not. The manager brought over my drink. No apology, just a "here you go". I ordered a chicken chuychonga. ( Their version of chimichunga). It did not take long for my food to come out. It turned out to be the wrong flavor sooooo. My server took it away ( no apologies, just frustrated) The manager returned again with the right item with a joke about nothing seems to be going my way...The food was decent, not expensive, my server was mediocre but nice, my SERVICE left a lot to be desired. The food or the margarita ( I love, and I mean margaritas) wasn't good enough to make me return. Over all I was disappointed about my experience there. read more

I would like to start this out with our server Shelby was amazing, the food was great, service was great. It wasn't until the general manager Josh came up to us and ruined our dinner. Josh targeted us out of all customers and wouldn't serve me one Dos XX. He came and said " I see you've had three margaritas and two shots." I said I only had one shot." Other customers have had a lot more to drink than us but continued to serve them instead of us. He mentioned to our server she seems coherent, but refused to serve us. This is my favorite Tex-Mex place to visit for lunch. There are so many things I love about chuy's. The first thing you look for when you enter a Tex-Mex place is a bowl of chips. Chuy's serves them freshly made and with a side of fresh salsa for each person. They also have other sauces for the chips and I highly recommend the creamy jalapeño which is a treat! They have a nice set of appetizers including chicken deluxe quesadillas which are perfect if you don't want to have too heavy of a lunch. If you are really hungry then I would suggest the Chuychanga or then the chile relleno (which is absolutely delicious!!) Lastly the decor here is very funky. Each section has a different theme varying from hand painted drawings to hubcaps and more. The staff are also very friendly and I am surely going to return when I am in the Arlington area. P.S. I haven't really been here for dinner or happy hour but they do have a pretty nice sampling of drinks. The coronita I had was pretty nice. read more

I used to go to this place all the time, but ever since the surge in customers, I can hardly get inside the restaurant, let alone wait. When I did go there, the salsa was amazing. It has a flavor like no other. Their chicken fajitas are also really good. They come with yummy tortillas and a lot of toppings. The enchiladas and flautas aren't as good. Since fajitas is one of their most popular foods, I don't think they bother to improve their other food. Best Chimichanga's that I have ever tasted. I go to the DFW area many times throughout the year and Chuys' is my first and last stop every time. The staff are polite and will assist you in anyway possible, if you are new to Tex-Mex cuisine. I have dined at several different Chuys' locations and each offer you the same, second-to-none accommodations. Clean, great variety, and tremendously gracious host. As for their prices, you will fill like you found the best bargain in town. Extremely disappointing!! Worse service I've had at a Chuy's, and I'm a regular. Great service in the bar area but quickly eroded when we got sat. Our server seemed apathetic and it wasn't even a matter of being to busy or "in the weeds". We had a special request from the kitchen and she said it couldn't be done. We're far from high maintenance, all we need is hot food and full glasses both of which seemed to be a daunting task. Yay! I'm a fan perfectly describes how I feel about Chuy's. I LOVE the deluxe tomatillo sauce. I like the deluxe enchiladas that come with this sauce, but I've also tried it on other things. The food is consistent, the waiters are always friendly, and typically really attentive. The salsa they bring is too spicy for me, and I keep eating it anyway. Its rare I have to ask for anything, because they usually get it right the first time. For the price, I think this place is great. I was invited by friends to meet for happy hour. Ate from the nacho bar, which is served from the trunk of a 57 Chevy. Very cool ... And yummy nachos with hot salsa.
