I usually reserve 5-star reviews for really spectacular experiences but I will make an exception for this Uncle Julio's location. We've had lunch here on a Saturday or Sunday about 4-5 times over the last few months, and very little has gone wrong. We're always seated immediately. The servers are always super nice and attentive. The kitchen sends our food out promptly (except once it took a little longer than normal). The chips and salsa are plentiful and endless. The food is consistently delicious, especially my entree of choice, shrimp fajitas. The drinks are well-made, and I like that they have several mocktail options alongside the cocktails. We generally always find a parking spot in front. It's always nice and cool inside against the summer heat. It's not too loud whether we're seated near a bunch of occupied tables or alone in the bar. (There's nothing that bothers me more than yelling "whaat?" to my dining companions!) I've had a lot worse experiences at much nicer establishments and I can't say I've done dinner here, but for a late weekend lunch this place is alright by me. Finally, I have been fascinated by the soft serve Margarita they recently introduced and finally got to try one yesterday. It is ridiculously good if you're interested in a cool creamy sweet mouthfeel/taste (it is non-dairy) and I could even taste the tequila a little bit although Husband said he couldn't. They give you a big straw but we all agreed it was best with a spoon, like a dessert. I wouldn't order it again, because I don't order drinks like that, but I enjoyed the heck out of it on a hot summer day! read more

OMFG!!! Who are these people? Emily runs a spectacular crew!!! It is not too often that I am so overwhelmingly blown away by restaurant service but these people are on FIRE!!! Emily was absolutely magnificent, although they were shorthanded and very busy, Emily enlisted Joslyn to accompany us to the patio (we have a small 8lb Japanese chin that we travel with) we were then seated on the surface of the sun!!! It was so flipping hot on that patio. (Hey, owners! They sell "big ass fans", you should look into them) We are not complaining, we very much enjoyed our visit. Joslyn and Gabriel were wonderful. They stepped in and took our drink orders and delivered them in record time. Even though they were not our server they stepped up to help out. Everyone we encountered was very accommodating. The service was a 10+ on steroids!!! We were eventually assigned Ashley as our waitress. Ashley is phenomenal, she's spunky and playful, she fit right in with our group. All the while, Emily, Joslyn and Gabriel continued to assist Ashley in making sure we were taken care of. Truly a great experience! 10 out of 10!!! My only regret is that I do not remember the name of the bartender. She too was over the top with her customer service. Without a doubt the greatest dining experience I've had in a very long time. Emily, I am forever grateful! (BTW, Love the new ink) Anytime the service is this good, which is rare today, they could have served shit-on-a-shingle and we would have loved it. I had the bacon wrapped shrimp with a side of charro beans, the bacon was soft in some areas and crispy in others, exactly how I like it. The shrimp were cooked to perfection. The flavor was very good. That jalapeño was to die for, roasted, soft, and HOT AS FU@K!!! The Smokey flavor was a good pairing for the shrimp. Everyone at the table was just as happy with their meals. Being from Houston, I'm saddened to not have the opportunity to Eat here more often. Seriously Emily, keep up the good work!!! read more

I visited Uncle Julio's yesterday with a group of friends, and we had a great experience from start to finish. The restaurant was very clean, spacious, and had a welcoming atmosphere. The staff was friendly and attentive, which made the visit even more enjoyable. I ordered the chicken quesadillas, and they were excellent! They came with fresh guacamole and sour cream, and the portion was so generous that I couldn't even finish them. Everything was flavorful and cooked perfectly. One of my friends ordered the chicken enchiladas and said they were delicious as well. He loved the flavor and thought the portion size was just right. Overall, we had a fantastic meal and a great experience. Between the excellent food, generous portions, clean restaurant, and friendly service, I'd definitely come back and would recommend Uncle Julio's to anyone looking for a great Mexican restaurant. read more

I have been to many Uncle Julio's and in the past has been enjoyable. However this time I'm rating the service. This time, the food was ok but it took forever to get it. We started with the complimentary chips and salsa and then ordered queso, 1 regular and one with meat. Unfortunately it took about 20 minutes for it to come out. The waiter kept coming by to apologize and telling us that our food is coming out soon. Then we ordered our main courses, I ordered fish tacos and asked to ask cotija cheese but it wasn't on it when I got my tacos, my family ordered beef fajitas. It took our food another 30 minutes or so to come out. Toward the end of our meal the manager came by to see how we were doing and made sure I got my cheese but at that point we were already eating and didn't feel like "venting" at that point. I believe the service was poor because they had a few large parties but I feel like the staff, especially management could have done better about setting expectations or comp us for our inconvenience. Uncle Julio's used to be a fan favorite, but my recent visit was a big disappointment. The restaurant was nearly empty, and after tasting the food, it was easy to see why. I ordered Roberto's Combo Plate (seasoned beef enchilada, crispy beer taco, and pork tamale with salsa carne) and the Chicken Fajitas with rice and beans. The chicken was cut in big, bulky pieces, and honestly, everything tasted like it had been microwaved rather than freshly prepared. Nothing was bad enough to be disgusting, but nothing was memorable either. Food was very mid for the prices charged. I definitely won't be coming back. To each their own, but this once-favorite spot has lost its spark. read more

Went to Uncle Julio's for a birthday party with about 30 family and friends Saturday and the entire experience was horrible. The food was cold,the service was slow and our waitress was not friendly at all, her attitude was terrible. A 20% gratuity was automatically added to my check for my wife and I which I protested to no avail. I don't have a problem with tipping but I do have a problem with a 20% gratuity being automatically added to my check for the horrible service rendered. And to make matters worse, I woke up and 3 am with the worst stomach ache of my life. The entire experience was one that I hope to never ever experience again. I have usually loved the steak fajitas from here, but this time I got them there were not good. They are usually consisted, but mine was chewy and burnt. I ordered them on uber for delivery. The color of the fajita meat was char not enjoyable. I received a little bit of cheese which was covered by the sour cream on top. I didn't receive any pico de gallo or lettuce. Made a reservation ahead of time & they even called an hour before to confirm that we were still going and I confirmed that we were. We arrive 20 minutes early and a few minutes of sitting down they tell us that they had a big group of party arrive and that our wait time would've been like 40 minutes. Oh Uncle Julio's where have you gone! Went for the first time in awhile we waited over 40 minutes on a table then got to our table and still waited about 15 minutes! However our waitress was the highlight of the experience! The manager also did a nice job pulling up my rewards from an email! This was on a Friday night! The kitchen literally took almost 50 minutes to get our fajitas for 2 out! You would think this would be an easy meal! The rice is still not good the beans are still just ok! Horrible experience. Anna was the worst server. Rude and not pleasant . It was lunch, empty and we had a party of 10. Be aware they do not offer happy hour only if sitting at the bar. We asked if we can open a tab at the bar and Anna got the manager. I would never give pushback to any waiter handling my food. The question didn't warrant the manager. Then from there the manager was extremely rude. Anna took 20 min to bring our drinks- mind you noone is at the bar. Food wasn't bad hence why I still gave a star. Anna never came to the table to offer refills, bring our to go box, accommodate a to go order. There was another waitress who was personable and helped. Stay away! We hadn't been to Uncle Julio's since before 2020 and times have changed. We stopped in on a Friday night after shopping in the area, we immediately noticed the floor was sticky. Our waiter was friendly but not very attentive, the food was ok but I wouldn't go so far as to say it was good. I grew up in Texas and enjoyed the original Uncle Julio's. While the chain has morph into something less than the original Texas locations, it is still solid. Highly recommend the margaritas, some of the best available. The watermelon version is my favorite when available. Fajitas are solid but do add the bacon wrapped shrimp. read more

Sadly, we just ate our last meal here and will not return. I was willing to give it another chance since the food is good. But...the food was not good and very disappointing. This was a very last minute, easy, and quick choice. Right as we sit everything came quick and we only waited under 15 minutes for our food. Everything was fulfilling and enjoyable. Came here with my mom and her friends on a Tuesday afternoon. The restaurant wasn't terribly busy and happy hour had just started. We were seated immediately (7 of us) to a table of waters, chips, and salsas. From then things became... off. Our waitress had an attitude from the time we sat down until the time we left. She rushed us through our order, was short with her responses, and wasn't personable at all. She definitely didn't show any respect for the elderly women she served. I ordered the lunch chicken fajitas with corn tortillas and the happy hour swirl x2. The drink was amazing! No complaints there. I enjoyed the fajitas as they give you a large portion for lunch but it makes me wonder how much larger than dinner. I initially ordered guacamole but they were out and I had to wait for them to make more (which wasn't an issue) it was just the attitude we received when we were told. I did eventually get the guacamole. I had enough food for leftovers along with chips and salsa to go. Overall, I won't return to this location because the service sucks but I will try other locations. read more

Went here to celebrate a birthday with my friends. It was a Monday the restaurant was almost empt. Service started off great, good drink. An hour and a half later the waitress starts to bring out the food, first 2 ladies states their food is cold another the vegetables were not done. the waitress storms off to get the manager. Never to return to finish passing out the remaining plates. We asked for out tickets and the gratuity be removed since the waitress hadn't returned manager took it from 20% to 18%. Huge disappointment!!! We've been regular customers at uncle Julio's for well over 20 years. Within the past year we have attended the Arlington location with it being closer to home and the one of the best HH around hence bc the service had improved greatly since they first opened this new location. We have gotten to know most of the bartenders within this time and had close bonds with most of them. Sadly on a few occasions and specifically the last one we had odd and disrespectful encounters with one particular bartender that in past had only served us as our bartender solo maybe once. We normally only came in to see other bartenders we knew and enjoyed which either worked alone or on maybe two occasions worked with this bartender. " Gabby " on many occasions confronted us while sitting at the bar enjoying our food, drinks and conversation with other bartenders serving us and made inappropriate odd and I feel very insecure comments about not being liked bc we asked or associated with the bartenders we knew and enjoyed. She made comments like " y'all don't like me " and was snide, oddly insecure and rude to us in these comments we didn't understand. On our last most recent visit we had come in for a few HH drinks and food and this employee walked in for her apparent shift, mind you we had already been there being serviced by another bartender we knew, and she once again came up to us , interrupted our peaceful time and said again " y'all don't like me " I find this behavior odd, rude and highly insecure especially as an employee of a restaurant. We talked to the managers when they confronted us after I mentioned to one employee of this odd rude behavior from Gabby and mind you some of the employees, bartenders and one of the acting managers also witnessed this encounter from her to us. The G.M. Of the restaurant walked up to us very unprofessional and suggested we call first to make sure gabby isn't working before we come in. I feel like their was no formal apology made or reprimand to that employee for her rude an unprofessional behavior towards customers especially regular respectful ones. I have never felt so disrespected as a customer than I did in that moment. Sadly We have not been back and no plans to bc of Gabby and the G.M. And how this was handled. So unprofessional and disrespectful. As long as they continue to allow employees to treat customers with such disrespect and witness it and do nothing about it, they will continue to lose good regular customers. I hope something is done not just for us but for anyone who wants to come in for a peaceful dinner and drinks with family, friends or loved ones and try and enjoy their experience.
