Oscar's churro stand sells the best churros I've ever had. Costco churros had already been out of the running already, so if you think Costco ones were good (they're not), wait 'til you try these. Oscar's service was quick. I went around 1PM on a Tuesday and he already had two bags of churros ready and still hot. Honestly for $10/bag, it was actually more than enough for me and my partner. Get this - after 4 hours of buying them, I had time to drop off the other bag to someone else to try and they STILL said they were the best churros. 'Nuff said. I've been spreading the word for years about the best churros you'll ever find but never once thought about looking him up on Yelp or leaving a review. He's a street vendor who cooks fresh churros from a cart, no real business name or exact address, or set business hours to speak of so I was beyond surprised when I saw him "trending"! Like everyone says, he's at the edge of the parking lot for Mexico Super, right off of Mission and Lafayette, across the street from Chapel of the Chimes. We used to live around the area in mid 2000 so we've been enjoying these churros for more than a decade, long before the other carts started popping up, when they were half the price we pay now. Yep, we used to "steal" these yummy goodness for $5/bag... then $7, now $10 but worth every penny! So yeah... a very long time. Could never get just one bag. And we still go out of our way when we get a craving... and mind you, they are better than what you would expect and very addicting! So prepare yourselves! CASH only. Unless he's upgraded and now takes cc? I'm just so happy that he's getting recognition. We used to feel bad when we get our churros in extreme weather conditions. Imagine being out there when it's scorching hot or freezing. We saw him more often than most of our distant relatives. And still we only know him by "Churros Dude". Okay so my standards of churros are Disneyland status. This guy's recipe is in his own lane. Flavor is good, sweet and addicting you can't put them down. However, some of our pieces were raw in the center. the pieces cooked longer were crunchier and fully cooked. Crazy enough I'd probably give him another chance. I love churros. Been seeing this Churro Guy for the past nine years and never have I ever seen him have a line. Social media is putting this guy on the map out!!! Like other posts before me, he does not disappoint. Deep fried in oil in case you didn't know, so the bag becomes a greasy mess quickly. I bought a bag for my friend and pointed out the oil soaked bag. The cart is located under a tree in the parking lots of a grocery store. Churros are fresh to order. One serving is $7 and it's a very big serving. When I came with my friend, he was prepping for his next batch of churros, the process is very cool! He squeezes it into the oil and forms a circle with the churro mix (make sure to not get too close, the oil pops). One giant swirl is 2 servings! When it's fresh out the oil, he chops it up, swishes it around the cinnamon/sugar and straight into the bag to hand to his customers. FRESH! You can also call him and make sure he's there and even place an order in advance! He also books for parties too. He was very sweet and humble. I've been to this location 2-3 times and he's always gone. I think the timing via Yelp is incorrect as I went on Tuesday at 3pm instead of 5pm. There is he is, my dream guy. They're a little crunchier than the other churro guy in San Jose (right on the side of Cajun Crack'n) and I think I actually like this one better. You'd think $7 is a little steep for a churro but you get a bag of 7 churros, each about ~6-7 inches?? You can throw away your costco crap and come here instead.
