I read each one of the reviews for Mr. Chung after finding him here on yelp. Having ALL 5-star reviews seemed strange and a little suspect. The next day I went to his shop and my experience confirmed the authenticity of his raving yelp reviews. (Unfortunately, like several other commenters, I was "that guy" with a last minute emergency. BUT, please note that my 5-stars aren't because my timeline was accommodated. My 5-stars are because Mr. Chung is both a master tailor & a joy to interact with.) I arrived at his shop with two brand new suits that needed a LOT of alterations. One suit was needed for an event the next day. The most important alterations that could be done in the time allotted were explained and the recommendations turned out great. With the other suit we got into more detailed alterations since there was no rush to complete it. Mr. Chung reviewed all of my options and offered sincere & honest suggestions WHEN I asked. Even with the elaborate & painstaking alterations I requested, the suit was ready a couple days later & perfectly customized. The price was extremely reasonable & it was refreshing to pay and leave with the rare sensation of "that was money well spent." This guy saved my life! I had a wedding coming up on Saturday and on Tuesday night I realized that my old suit did not fit anymore. It had been several years since I had worn it and I had definitely put on some weight. I ran to the mall after work on Wednesday and bought a new suit. The salesman at Nordstroms said the earliest they could have the suit fitted was Monday. Which would be too late. So i found Mr. Chung on yelp and decided to give him a shot since he was close to where I lived. I'm glad I did. I told him that it was an emergency and I needed my suit ready by Friday evening. He said it would not be a problem and he could have it ready by Thursday evening if I wanted. I toldhim Friday was fine. This is the best tailor shop in Manassas Virginia. After spending a year in Seoul Korea I knew then that Korean tailor's were some of the best tailor's. Mr. Chung altered a new suit jacket and put a hem in a pair of pants. The job was outstanding. My mind is made up. Mr. Chung is my new tailor. After first taking my cardigan that needed both the sleeves and hem taken up to another alteration shop in Centreville and getting a ridiculously high price quote to do it, I looked online for another alteration shop in the area. Mr. Chung was very nice and quoted me a fair price ($40 less than the first quote I got from the lady in Centreville!) and had my cardigan finished in 1 day. Since this place was new, I brought in two pieces of clothes to try the new tailor shop. 1st was a shirt. I like my clothes to be fitted. Mr. Chung tapered the shirt for me, it looks as if custom made. The 2nd piece was a pair of Joe's Jeans. The pants were to long, but I purchased them because they were on sale. Highly recommended! The service was very professional, friendly and the workmanship is top notch. Went to get one of my pant tailored because it was a little long. Service was inexpensive and fast. I've been to many in the past and all but one did sloppy job. That one place is far from home and glad I found a shop closer to home. Fantastic tailor. I've tried a couple others in the area and this will be my permanent place. He altered three jackets (leather, wool peacoat, and a lightweight polyester) and two pairs of pants. Although he told me he had never seen one of those (kinda funny looking garments) he studied the piece and proceeded to alter it on the spot. I tried it on today and it fits perfectly. Mr. Chung loves what he does and will only provide the best solution when it comes to difficult alterations. I have had him alter several pieces of clothing with special requests in which he honored. I really like Mr.Chung. He hemmed a bridesmaid dress for me. When I went to pick it up, we chatted a bit and he talked about how he grew up sewing and how he has been doing it for 50 years.
