I walked into the establishment today and was not greeted (basically ignored) while I stood at the counter as the cashier answered three phone calls to take orders. All without saying "hello" or "I'll be with you in a moment". I left without placing an order. Food is make quickly. I love the steamed dumplings! My family likes to buy a few things and then share them. The fried rice is really good.

My husband and I had two outstanding meals last evening. I don't usually write reviews but felt compelled this time. We ordered shrimp and mixed vegetables and cashew shrimp. Both dishes came with good size shrimp and loads of fresh crisp vegetables. The orders were also generous in size, great value. My husband said his cashew shrimp meal was probably the best Chinese food he'd ever eaten, so it was worth writing about. The location on the yelp map is incorrect. Its in the Public's strip mall. We ate here for the first time today. I would agree the two gals at the counter were not completely pleasant and welcoming then the younger girl took three phone calls during our order which got funny by the third time, it seemed to annoy the other lady who then finished it up for us. They are all business in this place, so make your order, pay and step aside for the person in line. "NEXT!" or "NO SOUP FOR YOU!" LOL We were patient and actually glad we were. I'm from NY which has some of the greatest Chinese take-out restaurants. For over six years now I've been getting takeout from Chung Shing and I can say that it's the closest thing to back home. The owners and their family are very nice and live locally. They are also from NY and have another restaurant that ls buffet style. My favorites? Sesame & general Tso's chicken, boneless spare ribs and their pork fried rice. Prices are great and portions are generous. I've never had a bad meal from them. Most of the food is very good (fried rices, not so much) and worthy of 4 stars, HOWEVER, the owners and their kids are unfriendly and without proper manners or common courtesy...such as "hello" when you walk in or "thank you" after you've paid. Food was not best quality ....fried rice looked like yellow rice with nothing else added.. Lemon chicken was breaded,over cooked, chewy chicken patties cut up over bed of iceberg lettuce, lemon sauce on the side had no flavor.... Worse mistake of my life! I should have got the hint that they sucked after it took forever for the lady to understand that I wanted Won Ton soup and not egg drop. I ordered house Lo mein, soup, and 2 egg rolls. The soup was nothing but water and grease with no flavoring, and it was a dark brown color and the noodles were hard as a rock. The Lo mein was ice cold and tasted like an old fryer. The egg rolls were ok, but the spicy yellow mustard that is homemade was so bad that it was sour. Never again! read more

I recently moved to Parrish from the Bayshore Gardens area in west Bradenton. There are a few excellent Chinese restaurants in THAT area. 5 stars or more! So Chung Shing is a HUGE disappointment. The first time I walked into Chung Shing I was not greeted, frankly, I was ignored. I stood at the counter while the cashier answered phone calls, packed orders and barked at those in the kitchen, all before acknowledging me. No one was at the tables, the store it was empty. My order was rudely taken and then given to me incorrectly. I would have walked out but they make you pay when you order! No customer curiosity at all. (minus 3 stars) I found calling in an order (in the evening) was even worse. I was charged for items but they did not include them in the bag. When I called to inform them of the mistake, I was argued with and they made no attempt to apologize or make good for the mistake. I recieved dried out overcooked leftovers (I'm guessing from lunch) and a container of extremely salty, just awful, wonton soup, I didn't ask for. I threw it down the sink disposer. (minus 5 stars) I guess they think they can get away with this type of business and service since they are the only Chinese restaurant between here and the interstate exchange. I am hoping the new shopping plaza going up across 301-that superior competition will be available! read more

So far we have ordered three times from this restaurant. The meals have been egg fue young, cold noodles, spare ribs. All have been fine. My biggest criticism is that they are total amatures on making pork fried rice. First the rice is yellow, they add carrots and peas but no egg and little onion and pork. Since our meals usually come with fried rice this is obviously a big problem. Those who indicate that the fried rice is great have no concept of what it should look like or taste. Also their egg rolls are a bit on the small size compared to NY from where we recently re-located. Prices are reasonable but I think this is true with most Chinese restaurants. read more

I gave this restaurant quite a few chances since I moved to Parrish four years ago, today was my last straw. My husband and I ordered a carry out...garlic chicken and General Tso's chicken. Today, like always I requested both of the dinners be extra spicy. Well today was no different, we received bland tasting dinners...again! I tasted no garlic on the chicken and our dinners were not spicy at all. Not only that but when I placed the carry out on the phone the person who took the order hung up on me when I placed the order. I had to call back to see if they actually had my order and she said, "Yes...we have caller ID," All in all, the food is not very good and is not worth the money, we will not be back, very rude customer service! read more

Wow! Made the mistake of checking these reviews before trying this place out...Had the chicken egg foo young, pork fried rice, chicken wings and 2 soups-wonton and egg drop. No onion in egg foo young, frozen peas and carrots(yuk) Nasty gravy, thickened with flour, no flavor in the chicken. As far as the fried rice, a bag of Vigo yellow rice has more flavor....again with only canned peas and carrots. No onion again? Really? The cheapest veg of all! Threw away the better part of my $17.00 order, never again. Only bright spots were the tiny pieces of pork in the rice. Definitely the WORST Chinese food north of the river. read more

I never write reviews but my experience with this restaurant was so terrible I just had to take the time. We ordered take out and when we got home the order was all wrong the the curry chicken should've been called curry onion cause there was no chicken only onion. The soup smelled really bad and the crispy chicken just looked old. So when we returned the order for a refund, the owner got very angry with us and kept yelling, here take your chicken, and refused to refund our money. I've never heard of a place refusing to refund money when you return food you are unhappy with. So, be warned. I'll never eat there again. read more

Especially like the "chicken & cashews" along with their chicken terryaki strips which ive always found generous in size and priced nicely.
