I did not look at the reviews prior to ordering food from here and to be honest, they would have likely changed my mind. However, I did not have a bad experience by any means. The food came out quickly and was served hot. Ordered the lunch special combo of general tsos chicken and it came with pork fried rice and an egg roll. The egg roll was extremely greasy but the overall flavor was good. The general tsos chicken was spicy but delicious, and the pork fried rice was pretty bland but not horrible. Overall, would I eat here again if I were craving Chinese food? Probably. read more

I've lived in the area for years but never stopped ..This week was an exception...It was raining...Chinese on the drive home sounded good...here I am. I would agree with some of the other reviews ...this is a "take-out place" - the tables are more for "waiting". It was busy so that was encouraging. There is a very extensive menu- literally something for everyone. Ala-cart, dinners, soups, noodles, specials, vegetarian dishes...lots of choices. It appears to be a family biz, most dishes are made to order. I ordered the Garlic Shrimp ...plump large fresh shrimp with veggies and a little kick served with a yummy yellow roast pork fried rice...and an egg roll...$14.00+ out the door...A good portion, I was hungry...ate the entire dish. It hit the spot! read more

I always come here after shopping at TJ max and so on. They have lunch special $9 it comes with soda. Always a lot of food. I couldn't never eat it all. I always try new things. I had curry chicken, moo goo gai pan and lo mein there all been good. read more

We almost did not come here due to the reviews. We were going next door to Vampire Penguin and saw that it was next door. After checking it out, it reminded me of the corner Chinese restaurants in Brooklyn. The cashier was very friendly and made some recommendations as to what is most popular. Ordered a sesame, general tso, and boneless spare ribs combination. The food was pretty good and reasonably priced. Will return the next time I am in the area. read more

King's Wok - C13. Sesame Chicken Combo Meal Special - Chinese Near Me - Ellenton, Florida

We had been wanting to try a new place. We were shopping in the center where King's Wok is located so came by to pick up some food for dinner. We ordered egg rolls, shrimp toast, wonton and hot & sour soups, pork fried rice, Mongolian beef and shrimp in lobster sauce. The Good: The shrimp toast were delicious. Mongolian beef was good though not spicy enough for me. Shrimp with lobster sauce was good. The Not so Good: The pork fried rice was a weird yellow-unlike regular fried rice. The flavor wasn't bad but it was just ok. The Bad: The wonton soup-wontons had a tiny amount of meat. The hot and sour soup wasn't very spicy. My husband described the egg roll as different. It was...and not in a good way. There was missing something. I spoke to someone else who went there regularly and he loved it. So, there may be other things that are better-like the chicken noodle soup and lo mein that he ordered. He did say they would make adjustments to the foods which is great for people with food allergies. Another good thing is the price. Prices are reasonable and if your order is $40, you can get pork fried rice or wonton soup for free. If over $50, you can get a pint of General Tso's chicken free. read more

This is an okay takeout Chinese restaurant with decent portions priced on the cheaper side. Not the best you'll ever have, but not bad. We've ordered here in the past, typically for things like game nights with friends when we need a lot of food. I ordered the chicken lo mein this time and that was probably my favorite dish I've had there. Ordering was easy and our food was prepared quickly. Not much in the way of seating or ambiance, like I said it's a cheap takeout option. read more

3rd experience. Decent place so I thought. I decided to do the lunch deal. I walked in about 11:15 AM. I took home carry out and I ate it after I went to the grocery store for a quick pick up. It's now 11:30 PM. I must've drank an eight glasses of water on top of my normal. They served me up a salt bomb. Holy crap. I wont be back next time for another experience. Pass. I mean come on... read more

Was hoping this would be great food, given the reviews. First visit. Large portions, but really mediocre. Smallest pieces of chicken in the friend rice. Needed a microscope almost. Asked for it spicy - not. Other dish was adequate. Will do in a pinch I guess and close to home, but..... read more

I love Chinese food takeout, and frequently try new places--some randomly. That was the case with King's Wok. I was doing business in the area, decided to give it a try. I rarely give a restaurant a bad review. Sometimes I think the meal/service/whatever didn't warrant a return visit but wasn't terrible. In this case I felt the need to write a review--it was terrible! The Krab Rangoon (my favorite thing on a Chinese restaurant menu) had no crab, imitation or other, no scallions or anything green--they were thin, greasy not crispy, and filled with a dab of sweet cream cheese. They were, without a doubt, the worst Krab Rangoon I have ever had. The wontons tasted like old grease. The bone-in ribs were mostly just bone. One was actually just a sauced bone without an ounce of meat on it. There is no way the person packaging them didn't see that they were literally sending out a bag of bones. The little bit of meat there was was tough and chewy. The sweet and sour chicken had a thin batter and were fried so hard that they were rubber. The shrimp fried rice had no taste. How do you do a bad Spring roll? A one star review is generous! read more

This place still scared of covid? I will not order from this place ever again. The "Shield" or whatever they want to call this that they put up looks very nasty and old (greasy even on the outside) I can't imagine the pans they use to cook food out of look like if the store front is like this. This is the only place that has given me a bad headache from eating my meal- probably full of MSG. If you visit make sure you use the greasy dirty baby monitor to talk into lol read more

King's Wok - GREASY COVID PROTECTION- order threw old baby monitor - Chinese Near Me - Ellenton, Florida

Just your typical Chinese takeout restaurant. They make the food quick and have generous portion sizes. They also throw in free dishes when you spend a certain amount without you having to ask or provide a coupon. I was not a fan of the egg drop soup here and the potstickers are a bit greasy, but I have enjoyed everything else in ordered like honey chicken, beef and peppers, and wonton soup. read more

Seriously, it's really not that bad. I'm not the type to order anything breaded at a Chinese food spot, so I can't really comment on that. I usually stick to the basics, because it's so hard to mess up the basics. But do you know what the basics are? Well here's a list: Egg Foo Young Chow Mein Protein w/ Broccoli Steamed Vegetables Happy Family Anything w/ Lobster Sauce I always stay away from Lo Mein, Egg Rolls, Crab Wontons, Fried Rice, and the aforemention breaded proteins. All of those items are too oily, and most Chinese restaurants don't change the oil in their Fry-o-lator regularly, so why risk it? I ordered Pork Egg Foo Young, Chicken w/ Broccoli, and Sauteed Mixed Vegetables. The sauce for the egg foo young was weak, but the egg foo young had bits of ginger (which I really liked). The sauce for the chicken w/ broccoli and the mixed veggies was the same sauce. I wasn't expecting Hong-Kong style food in Ellenton, FL, but I'm glad that it was much better than the other review would have you believe. It's not great, but it's far from bad. Order carefully... read more

Worst food ever! Never knew fried rice is yellow. Food has no taste at all. Never go there again!!!! Worst thing yet is that they are overpriced too. $30 for a couple of dishes of Chinese food that was crap. The women behind the plexiglass fort is rude too. We ordered $35.00 worth of food. Each item has a price. The sweet and sour sauce had a price. The egg roll had a price. The worst part; it was uneatable. The egg drop soup was so gelatinous I could not eat it. The chicken in the moo goo guy pan was slimy. I could not eat it either. The only eatable thing was the fortune cookie. They lost my business. read more

Our go to place for several years now. Food is good and convenient if you can get over the make shift Covid shield.

This is my go to Chinese take out place. It's not fine dining but it hits the spot when you need some Chinese take out. Their egg rolls are good. I usually get General Tsos and it's always ready in 15 mins. My husband likes the beef skewers and they are pretty good. Like I said, if you're looking for a sit down Chinese this isn't the place. If you want some decent take out...this is your spot. read more

I have eaten Chinese food all over the country. Let's face it- this area of FL has fast food Chinese. This is not a large sit down restaurant with dim sum or family style eating. It is take out and fast food. Compare Taco Bell to authentic Mexican food. If you approach this establishment like that, you won't be dissatisfied. read more

Used to be quite good for takeout, but went back after a year or so and the prices went way up, was $12.98 for a chef's special now $16.98, and while the chicken and beef were good the reasonable number of jumbo sized shrimp were the worst I have ever had, were not deviened and had the consistency of wet cardboard with just a hint of shrimp flavor. Will not order a dish with shrimp again, and at those prices ($18 with a buck tip) not sure I will go back. read more

My go to place for Chinese food. The make food quickly and the family who runs it is nice. Have never eaten inside usually just get take out. General Tso chicken is good 3 out of 4 times. Ordered their crab rangoon's for the first time a couple weeks ago and they were good...almost ate them all. My brothers always order bourbon chicken, and beef and broccoli, so I take it that those foods are also good. Definitely will keep eating here. read more

Having just moved to Ellenton, Fl I had the taste for Chinese food. Looked this place up and I figured what I was ordering was a no brainer. I first called to order the food and the woman who answered the phone was the rudest woman I have ever talked to! When I asked her where the place was she flipped out on me so I said cancel the order..I will just drive over and order. When I walked in I almost threw up! The place was absolutely filthy! Dead bugs everywhere!!! Dirt in every corner! I got my food and left! And the kicker here is THE FOOD WAS TERRIBLE!!! No flavor! The chicken was so salty I couldn't even eat it! My husbands lo mein was mushy like it was reheated! My pork fried rice a big mess of mush! When I started eating my food there were a few dead bugs in it so I dumped mine and my husbands down the disposal!! $37 dumped!! If I'm starving I will NEVER GO BACK TO THIS FILTHY PLACE! You shouldn't either! read more

worst ever...ribs were so tough you couldn't bite into or chew- Mongolian Beef was 90% onions- I thought it would be somewhat like of Chang but it was NOTHING LIKE IT. very very little beef, General Taos chicken was about a 4- house special rice was 95% rice, no veggies - exactly 3 small shrimp and maybe 6 thin small pieces of chicken, terrible - will not go back. a total waste of $58.00. threw most of it away. read more

Overpriced and loaded with MSG or salt. Would have done better getting McDonalds chicken strips and adding our own S&S sauce. The egg foo young had a very weird texture, sponge-like and the beef and snow peas had a lot of filler (celery, water chestnuts, mushrooms). Spent 33 dollars, and threw all out. Big waste of money. read more

Seriously it is that bad!!!! A few co-workers about a month ago went there and gave them some cash to grab me something too. I requested the lemon chicken with crab puff. As i worked hard and steadily and also anxiously waiting for my lunch my first bite of food came o too soon. Chicken was noticeably lithely breaded if at all and the sauce was so bitter it was stale or something. I feel bad for the two that said it was so great because it was no where close at all. Chinese Restaurants in this part of Florida are a joke at best, , but after having dinner at this establishment was the worst yet. Ordered sweet N sour chicken. Chicken was sub-par with too much batter, the fried rice was awful. If it was fried, they need new fryers. The sauce was a terribly watered down production. And to top it off, they did NOT leave a fortune cookie. I pray that someday we can get a decent Chinese restaurant here, but I'm not holding my breath. read more
