The BEST Chinese food in Sarasota! We've been coming to Sarasota and ordering from here for many years, and it has never disappointed. This time we ordered: - sweet & sour chicken lunch - tofu lo mein (we actually ordered chicken and they gave us tofu but it was just as good - chicken mei fun - egg drop/wonton soup - egg rolls The sweet and sour chicken was good, much like anywhere. The fried rice that came with it also basic level good. The tofu lo mein was really good! It's one of our favorite lo meins anywhere, and the surprise tofu instead of chicken was actually a great substitute, especially since we probably would never order that ourselves. The chicken mei fun was absolutely hands down the best we've ever had. It tasted like a thin version of linguine with clam sauce and our 2 year old was obsessed! The egg drop and wonton soup was also some of the best we've had. We ordered a large and it came with no fewer than 6 wontons! My 4 year old ate it for 3 meals. The egg rolls were also very tasty and easily some of the best I've had too. The ambiance is exactly what you'd expect, very little searing, no one else in the restaurant, and specifically set up for takeout. The lady answering the phones and fulfilling orders was helpful and the food was ready in the 15-20 minutes promised. I ordered via Uber Eats the General Tso's combination platter. Everything was delivered correctly, on time and hot. The chicken was good, could've been crispier, but the sauce made up for it. The rice was bland and tasted undercooked. The egg roll was like any other you get at a takeout Chinese restaurant. After eating I became very ill. Disclaimer: I ordered via Uber Eats, because I was visiting the area, it was late (one hour before restaurant closing), and needed something delivered to my hotel. Worst Chinese food in Sarasota. Absolute garbage, frozen food is better. Spent $90 getting a wide array of dishes - not a single one was good. They use an overseas call center; they do not answer the phone - so don't even try to leave feedback. All of it going right into the garbage, will never order from them again. Complete waste of money and they should be ashamed of themselves. -Sweet & Sour Chicken - complete mush/soggy, cold and sauce flavorless. This is a dish almost impossible to screw up. -Mongolian Beef - completely tasteless, low-quality meat - tendons everywhere -Pepper Steak - also tasteless, meat was tough and full of tendons/connective tissue -Rice - on all meals, old and greasy... Never had rice like this, ever. -Hot & Sour Soup - Overly spicy (no balance) with zero flavor, fried wontons were beyond stale -Eggrolls - undercooked and mushy - no flavor at all -Spring rolls - see eggrolls -Crab Rangoon - all smashed and filling tasted off/spoiled like old milk Of the little food we tried, we all got sick overnight, just like some of the other reviews. This place is extremely unassuming and located in a back corner of a strip mall, but it's easily one of the best Chinese take-out places I've been to in Florida. The food is flavorful with quality meat and veggies and the portion size is just right. The crab rangoons and egg rolls were even crispy the next day after sitting in the fridge and being heated up in the microwave! The prices were good too. Two combination platters and an order of crab Rangoon was about $23. A lot of the poor reviews of this place are about the service, but I could care less, especially when it comes to Chinese take-out...it's take out. This is a great go-to Chinese take-out place. They deserve extra credit for always friendly, super-fast service. Crab Rangoon is well above average. Nicely fried with lots of filling. Generous portions for most everything. Among three people, we split two orders of Crab Rangoon and an order of pork Mei Fun. That was more than enough for dinner. They do the barbecue roast pork especially well here -- so you can't go wrong with ordering pork anything. No delivery service of their own, so that's a bummer. If you can't run to pick it up yourself, you'll have to use doordash or ubereats and deal with their attendant nonsense. read more

The best Chinese restaurant in Sarasota. I'm shocked it's not a five star review. What I will say is it's not the typical Americanized Chinese food but an authentic blend of food that is seriously lacking in Sarasota. I take everyone who visits here and it is one of the most consistent places I frequent. It feels welcoming and I can tell it's family run as the son is often doing his homework when I've come in to pick up my order. Give this place a chance and you will not regret it. First of all, even though the sign says "Eat In or Take Out", it is set up for mostly take-out. It is not your usual sit down restaurant. We ate here for the first time yesterday for dinner. Even if you eat in, your food will be put into plastic carry-out containers and you only have thin, dinky utensils to eat it with. Which is kinda awkward. And drinks are cans and bottles only. All that having been said, the food was pretty good. I had egg rolls, hot and sour soup and Szchewan chicken with fried rice. Everything tasted excellent. Prices were fair. We ordered sweet and sour chicken, spicy chicken and mixed vegetables, egg fried rice, an egg roll, and hot and sour soup. All were hot, exactly what we ordered, and delicious. The chicken in both dishes was excellent with very little breading on the sweet and sour and the spicy chicken was better than we've had anywhere. Looks like a family run business with the young daughter doing very well at the register. Casual takeout place located next to Detweilers. The food along with the pork fried rice was just okay. It was definitely a step up from the last place where I dumped the food out after two bites. I will give them another try, since most places I have gone to have one or two dishes that are decent. This place has become our go-to for take out Chinese food. Mostly because of it's proximity to the homestead but also because of the food. The food is consistently good. Not spectacular but very good, every time. Good portions, good flavor. Which is why we continue to use them. I can't say the same for the service. Very spotty and inconsistent. Sometimes its fine. Other times nobody seems to know whats going on. They have a decent looking online ordering page. But it wont accept payment and they seem to not have the ability to sort orders by customer name even though its clearly printed on the generated order ticket. When you arrive for pickup, and give your name they act confused and ask what you ordered. Apparently they arrange the orders by dish? Recently they've taken to having the little girl, who looks 9 at the most, running the front counter. She looks overwhelmed and has to go ask questions frequently which prolongs the transaction. And yes, sometimes it may seem like they are speaking rudely to you, but honestly its just the way they speak. They speak to each other the same way. Don't take it personal. None of what I've mentioned is a deal breaker for us, it's just annoying at times. But then I take a spoonful of their delectable egg drop soup and all is forgiven LOL read more

This is mostly a takeout place. They do have some tables inside. We ate inside, our server was the owner...he was pleasant. The food was ok. We will probably never go back because we were overcharged on every item we ordered. Very bizarre since the menu is the placemat. I did question our bill and the owner/server just smiled and said prices go up. Who does that ? ! We paid but were stunned by his response. Why didn't he tell us while we were ordering that all the prices of the items you are ordering are not the actual prices, they will be a mystery until I give you your bill at the end of your meal. Ordered at 3:15pm to have it ready at 4:30pm. Got there at 4:30pm and knew nothing about my order. Showed them my email from them saying I requested my order be ready at 4:30pm ( because their website asks when you want it ready). Cashier said nothing to me, turned around to walk back to the cook, pointed to tab, then came back to me and yelled and waved me away and said "5 minutes", (which ended up being 10 to 15 minutes. ) When the food was complete all the cook did was come slam it on the counter. The cashier was playing with her children and not even paying attention. I had to ask her if that was my food. She walked over and shoved it at me. When I get to my husband's hospital room to eat it with him there were no utensils and no napkins. I had to go find a fork from the nurse. Very frustrating but thankfully the food was good. That could be a good or a bad thing I guess...if ya know what I mean. Anyways inside looked alittle sketchy but doesn't all local Chinese places haha. Got home and my first bite of some fried rice, definitely lacked flavor, wasn't good but wasn't bad just okay. Now, I got the sesame chicken. Apon first bite I thought it was below average but as I kept eating it actually got better. Now I'm not saying it was great but it went terrible either. Will I go back? Seafood medley had plenty of plump juicy shrimp, big scallops, even a lobster tail and all the veggies were fresh and hot. General Tso's was tangy, sweet and gooey. Shrimp lo-mein was also yummy. Noodles were not too soft perfectly in between al dente, in well coated brown sauce. Never been a fan of crab ragoon as every time I've tried it I would usually say ugh, "why bother, Chinese food isn't with cream cheese" but there was only a little which enhanced the crispy hot fried wonton and I ate more than my usual bite. I ate a bunch, they're like a hot candy dessert when you dip into the sweet sauce. Wow!!! This place may not have much curb appeal since it's located in a strip mall, but they definitely makeup for it in the taste of their food. I only wish they offered more meat in their dishes. We had Mongolian Beef, Curry Chicken, Singapore Chow Me Fun, Hot & Sour Soup and Pork Egg Rolls. I have to say, they make the best Hot & Sour soup that we have ever had in our 30+ years in Sarasota. I used to frequent here years ago. I have ordered from them 3 times in the last 6 months and will not order again. The last time I ordered they "lost" our order and I had to wait another 20 minutes. This time I ordered through ubereats. They charged me for a side of sweet and sour sauce but we did bony receive it. I requested my dish spicy and no mushrooms. It was not spiced and there were loads of mushrooms. Not sure if they changed hands at some point or are just going down hill. read more
