This rating is just from my most recent experience, have ate there before probably the best fried rice in the area. Wanted a quick snack tonight and got the dumplings with an egg roll. Eggroll was just ok. The dumplings did not seem like they were home made. They tasted like I went to Costco and bought the Asian ones they had. They are ok for a frozen one but not what I was expecting at a Chinese restaurant. DONOT order the dumplings! Place is clean service was quick. read more

Mr Wok I stopped in to get a pork egg roll. I read good reviews and needed a small item to tie me over till dinner. I love Chinese food and never noticed your restaurant, excited it is close by. I ordered the pork egg roll only to bite into it and realize it had a few tiny pieces of pork. I think it was pork. Mr Wok, WHERES THE PORK? Here's my suggestion if you are gonna sell a pork egg roll put more pork in it. Even if you have to charge a bit more. If not then take it off your menu so your customer doesn't feel cheated. read more

These guys saved us on Christmas Day! We placed an order with China Wok and when we arrived to pick it up after a long flight for my family, they had cancelled our order without telling us. Mr Wok was not only open but took our order and had it ready within 25 minutes. On top of that, the food was really good. This coming from someone who also lives in LA where we do get the best Chinese food. Our favorites were the lo mein and moo shu pork. The more non-traditional Chinese dishes like General Tso's Chicken and beef-and-brocolli were pretty good, too. Nephews definitely enjoyed these. The ingredients were fresh and good spicing. I normally get MSG headaches from takeout places, but didn't get one afterwards. It is a take-out place so no seating. This will be my go-to Chinese takeout food when I'm in Sarasota. read more

Ordered General Tso shrimp extra spicy. Disgusting. Breading was doughy and undercooked. Not spicy at all. Never again.

So disappointed, charged $7 for an order of wontons. Issue is, these wontons had nothing inside of them, so I paid $7 for fried dough. 1 was under cooked, dough still gooey, the others were overcooked and had no filling on the inside, as you can see from the pics maybe a dash of pork. Pretty standard Chinese takeout. Can't say I was wowed by anything, but equally, nothing was bad. For under $50 we got two combination plate dinners, moo shu pork, mei fun shrimp, and 3 egg rolls. The portions are very large (a single combination plate $10 would easily feed 2 so good value there). The food was fresh, and the location is convenient so I'd return. read more

Was looking for a quick lunch and this place was close to where I was shopping. Walked in, placed my order and it was ready in less than 10 minutes. Was able to dine-in at one of several small tables. Ordered spring rolls that were piping hot, crispy and well seasoned. Also got a small Veg lo mein with bean sprouts, mushrooms, broccoli, green onion, cabbage, snow peas and tasty sauce. It stayed steamy hot the whole time I dined in. Got a cold can of Diet Coke too. I wasn't expecting a lot but decided to give Mr Wok a try. What I found was very good. I ordered food at the counter for takeout. Order accepted with changes in spice level. (I like "blow ur head off spice"). Food was great. Easy to order. Fast service. VERY tasty. No, they didn't get the hot spice high enough on first try but food was VERY good. Prices excellent. Tonight sadly disappointed with this once great Chinese takeout.... Moved down to Sarasota 2 years ago and finding a good Chinese takeout was a priority for us New Yorkers. When Mr Wok opened earlier this year of course I needed to try it. We were amazed how good it was and definitely compared to our Long Island place we used to go to. I began carrying extra takeout menus and giving them out to others on my recommendations that's how excited I was. But sadly they must have changed cooks or owners because it was horrible. The meat in the wontons ( soup) looked like cat poop, broth no flavor, pork fried rice was very dark and plasticky, beef lo melon was very oily. My husband could only take a few bites .... Sadly I won't be going there anymore and now on the hunt... Why can't restaurants be consistent? read more

Coming from the North, we have yet to find a good Chinese restaurant, so this hit the spot. If I had to give one negative, I would say the temp could have been hotter . Service was excellent. Kung Pao chicken and garlic shrimp were excellent. Shrimp with lobster sauce was missing tidbits of ground pork that is usually an ingredient at other restaurants. Egg rolls tasteless as filled with only shredded cabbage. Will give them one more try. read more

Great food and always a smile. Beat Chinese food south of New York. The area was in need of good Chinese food and Mr Wok did not disappoint.

Essentially a take-out restaurant with more than 150 dishes on the menu. The Kung Pao chicken and Dragon & Phoenix were good but the special fried rice was about ok. Service was fast, parking easy and we'll certainly go back again. read more
