Tonight we tried Asian Kitchen just off Clark Road. Could not be more pleased. Krab Rangoon is the best I've ever had and I am a connoisseur of them. Our entrees we perfect and delicious. Wife and I will absolutely make this our go to place for Asian food. We live in South Venice but it's more than worth the 20 mile drive. read more

I liked our visit We made it back to Asian Kitchen for dinner yesterday. We got a friendly greeting and had a choice of tables. They offer a fairly extensive menu so it did take us a few minutes to decide what to order, in my case their Happy Family. Happy Family has all sorts of meats and seafood and veggies in a brown sauce. It was quite a pile of food, and came with a small bowl of white rice. I don't have a high opinion of Chinese takeout food in general and this seemed like takeout food on a plate. There was nothing at all wrong with the food, maybe it was the thin sauce that lowered my appreciation. We got great service with people checking on us, the food taking just over 10 minutes. Overall, I liked our visit, so I'm giving them a qualified 5 stars even though we may not return. read more

Best Chinese food we've had in Florida! Oh so good, had beef teriakyi appetizer (yummy and chewy and savory). Then we split Mei Fun noodles (with chicken and we asked for it spicy) and Tofu with vegetables. Everything was cooked to perfection. The sauce in the tofu dish was so flavorful, not oily, and delicate -- just fantastic. The Mei Fun noodles were also wonderful, with sliced vegetables and lots of snow peas -- and it had a kick. The service was great, the food was wonderful and we will definitely definitely be back. Don't miss it! First dish was Seafood Delight. It would have been a delight if there was any seafood in it. 5 shrimp, 2 scallops, and 3 rubber band looking, tough, tasteless things that I think were supposed calamari. 95% of the dish was under cooked crunchy vegetables. The dish also had zero seasoning and the 2 scallops were over cooked rubber. Second dish was chicken lo mein. We asked for extra sauce but they must have misunderstood us, because there was barely any sauce at all. This dish was also under seasoned. Literally had no taste and the 6-7 pieces of chicken in it was horribly over cooked. The egg rolls were under cooked and doughy inside. Took one bite and threw both of them in the trash. The crab rangoon was what you would expect. Frozen, fried and served with tasteless sweet and sour sauce. 75% of this dinner is currently sitting in our driveway trash cans. The tale of two entrees. Chinese Restaurant reviews tend to have either a five or a one-star rating from the reviewers. The food strikes you one way or the other. Since we are new to Sarasota, we are in the process of finding our favorite dining locations. I tried to order a port egg foo yung combo since a love egg rolls. I was informed that was not an option although it is listed on their site as one. I ordered it off their regular menu with an egg roll as an appetizer. The egg roll was different from any other I have eaten, and trust me I have had scores in the past. The skin resembled a tempura batter. It was not to my liking. In addition to the skin, the filling was scant and bland. Dosing it with chinese mustard turned the tide. The egg foo yung patties were tasty and three in number. What was unusual was the "gravy." It was thin and light in color, not the typical thicker brown sauce, devoid of flavor. Overall the patties were very good but the egg roll and sauce were lacking. My wife ordered a combo, beef with mixed vegetables. Typically she will get beef and broccoli, she rolled the dice and changed her order. Her experience with beef entrees is that the beef is normally chewy. This was not the case with her dish. It was tender and well-seasoned. Egg rolls are not her cup of tea so my observations were not shared. She would definitely order this dish again. This is another case where what you order will temper the rating of your overall impression. We will return and I will try another entree. Depending on what you order will dictate whether or not you will return. I will just stay away from the egg rolls. read more

This evening was my first time ordering take out from Asian Kitchen. To be blunt; BAD, BAD CHOICE!!! Ordered Hunan Steak, Szechuan Chicken and Shrimp Lo Mein. The steak and chicken had absolutely NO FLAVOR WHATSOEVER!!! Both were supposed to be spicy. The steak was visually dry and tough. The vegetables, especially the broccoli were hard. They only gave us a few packets of soy sauce and duck sauce. Two bottles wouldn't be enough to save that meal. The Shrimp Lo Mein and sticky rice was somewhat acceptable. The price wasn't bad. We ordered here based on the reviews. We ordered orange, chicken, Pad Thai and crab Rangoon. The orange chicken was inedible. The breading was mushy, there was no flavor, the broccoli was gray. The side of rice, was not sticky or even any good- it was dried out. The crab Rangoon was obviously purchased frozen, not made fresh. I was like they can't screw this up! Nope, no Bueno. It was not very good at all The pad Thai had no sauce and no taste. If you want me back as a customer you need to kick it up a notch or two. Have eaten Chinese food in China Town (NYC), Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Been to Bejien China in 2000 for business. Cantonese with no flavor either. It's all style. Schezuan and Hunan are more my flavor profile. Guess I'll keep looking around town as a local. I read excellent reviews of this place and it isn't too far from our home. Their website and menu looked quite good. I tried to call them, but didn't get an answer. We decided to drive and after getting there they had a small card on the door informing us that they were closed for several weeks on vacation. They could have put something on their website. They could have put something on their answering message. They could have posted on Yelp. Instead, they did nothing, and the only way one could find out was by physically driving to their restaurant. I decided to try to this place since it had 4+ stars and was utterly disappointed. I just moved from NY/NJ and have yet to find good local takeout Chinese food in Sarasota. I'm not sure if the cooks here are trying to cater to the locals but any Asian would be disappointed as well as people from NY or CA where Asian food is common. Food was bland and I can get better egg rolls at Costco thats frozen and Panda Express. There was barely any pork or egg in the fried rice and the egg roll looked nothing like any egg roll I've had my entire life. The service was top notch and I got to thank my man Mark for staying on top of it. The ambiance of this place was real chill. The only reason why I gave this establishment and 4/5 was because I ordered a small thing of wonton soup and I felt like it didn't have enough flavor. I decided as we ordered alone to try the top rated place again, and the sauce was SOO watery. I had to eat with a spoon. It a soup. The flavor was sweet but it was literally soup. I thought it was too hot but heated it up later to room temp and it was still water consistency. Pieces also were so small mostly with random different colored larger chunks. It was really unappealing to unwrap. Never had this experience. Again I've never had this issue with bourbon elsewhere ! I actually order extra sauce to cook with again, oops. Friend and I had a late lunch at the Asian Kitchen. The food was delicious, the server was more than polite, friendly and helpful and the portions were most generous. Friend had kung pao 3 and I had general tso's chicken which was served with FRESH broccoli (not steam table mushy), pepper, onion and sliced carrot. After living in Florida for 25 years, this was one of the best Asian style meals I have ever eaten. We come from Arcadia and will be back!! read more

Tried this place based on the Yelp reviews, and wasn't really impressed with the overall taste of the food. The service over the phone and delivery were both fine, but the food was very average and weird/untraditional. The egg rolls were the weirdest dish, as they're huge and double-triple fried, making them overly crunchy and flaky. And it's stuffed to the brim making it taste really mushy, just the weirdest egg roll I've ever seen. And the spring rolls are the same; stuffed and mushy and huge, very odd. The crab Rangoon looked normal, but was the opposite, and there was like barely any cream cheese filling inside lol; rolls were stuffed, and this had nothing, so strange. The pork egg foo young and brown sauce did not taste good, and the sauce was like this really light brown color that didn't look appetizing. And the general tsos chicken and rice combo was average; tasted fine, but nothing special. Unfortunately, I wouldn't try this place again, but kudos on the good customer service. read more

Usually when you go to a Chinese restaurant you are met with the standard fare from the local Chinese food distributor. They either throw it in the deep fryer or throw it in the wok and therein lies the end of any talent in making your meal. Asian kitchen on Clark, located in the same plaza as geckos and Walmart, uses fresh ingredients, a fresh menu layout, and an amazing fried rice. This is not the best Chinese food in Sarasota but it is a very clear number two winner with no ties.
