This was really good. The boneless ribs were fresh and flavorful. The rice was not as flavorful. It did have a lot of meat and vegetables though. I also had an order of fried chicken wings that were fried to perfection. The service was very quick and efficient. And the restaurant was very clean although there wasn't much seating if you wanted to sit in. This is a small family run, mostly takeout establishment. There is no ambiance. The place was clean and the food was good. I had hot and sour soup which was both. The mushu pork, however, was way above average and there was a lot of it. So much in fact I had leftovers the next morning for breakfast...very tasty indeed. Make sure you check your bag before you leave, they have forgotten some items or gave us the wrong order sometimes and I had to drive all the way back from home to get my order. The food is good, the lunch specials are good but the woman that runs that place is a greedy, grouchy and cold as ice. I have been going there for years because being from the northern states it is difficult to find good chinese food down here.I like the food, that is good, but this women never smiles, tries to shake you down for every penny. It is apparent she does not like Americans and only wants to get their wallets open. I have asked several times for a certain sauce for my food, 7 different times she has given me 7 different prices. Now mind you this is a tiny little container of a special sauce. Sometimes it is .40 cents, .60 cents, $1.00 and now $2.00. The container size is half the size of your thumb! Never once in 5 years of patronizing this business has this woman smiled as a greeting or at all, never once has she said "thank you". She does NOT appreciate her customers or customer loyalty. Yesterday we read the ordering process at China gourmet. It was smooth easy to understand and very fast. When we picked up the food it wasn't nearly as good. The meal started out with some delicious hot and sour soup. The next course we order spring rolls. We expected spring rolls! The delicious vegetable and shrimp bundles wrapped in rice paper that melts in your mouth. Then we continued to eat the things that serve the spring rolls. They turned out to be thumb size pieces of Oily dough with a Nana Danna find interior. It continued downhill. The mou she shrimp was burned. There's no other way to describe it. We know they were busy with Christmas dinner so we're being generous and giving them to stars. read more

I've lived in lots of big cities with unlimited supply of good Chinese food. Unfortunately Bradenton/Sarasota seems to have a lack of decent options. My mom has lived here for 10 years and we had yet to discover something worth going back to. Then we discovered China Gourmet. We ordered the beef and broccoli and the black pepper chicken. Beef was super tender and my mom said the sauce was delicious. The chicken was chunks of real chicken and the breading was so light you couldn't even taste it. It just tasted like real, tender, delicious chicken. The sauce was spicy but not too spicy (it's black pepper chicken after all). Honestly no complaints. We will definitely be going back and trying more items. If you haven't found good Chinese food in the area then you have to give this place a try. read more

From the moment I got it in the car I could SMELL the freshness. We ordered; quart of sweet and sour chicken, fried dumplings, French fries (because, kids), boneless spare ribs, Mongolian beef, egg rolls, pork fried rice and crab Rangoon. Literally everything was so delicious, there wasn't one thing I ate that I wasn't crazy about- it was really really good. I still haven't found MY beef sechwan or crab Rangoon ANYWHERE. No offense but crab rangoons in area are like a piece of leather or taste like a pastry . We are used to a very light and crispy phyllo dough. And so far my 3 beef Szechwans have been either sweet, not spicy, or seasoned oddly. Maybe I am the problem. We requested to have brown rice instead of white rice. In the past they never charged for this change. Truthfully, We live quite a few miles away (Cortez Rd Ironwood) and make the trip when wishing some good Chinese food. They have a great lunch menu too for $6.50 that includes two extra sides including soup, rice, soda and/or egg roll. I enjoy the Mei Fun, House Special that takes me two days to finish and tastes delicious. I also like their Hot & Sour soup. Much more to try in the future! read more

This restaurant does not honor DoorDash discounts. I ordered two combination meals this evening. My order was canceled as soon as my driver arrived to pick it up. I called the location and the person that answered the phone said that they canceled it because DoorDash will not reimburse them for the $2.78 discount. The discount was one of the frequent discounts that DoorDash promotes. I don't understand why this restaurant even allows DoorDash orders if they are not going to honor the specials that DoorDash provides their users. Jumbo shrimp with the traditional thickened white sauce with lobster flavor and chunks of imitation crab meat, too. White Rice and Pork Fried Rice based on entrees, both tasty and fresh. Egg Roll has a very crispy skin and was a compact roll of egg roll goodness. Steamed Dumplings are one of my favorite dishes and these did not disappoint. Stopped here for lunch today, based solely on Yelp reviews. We're in town visiting family, and wanted Chinese food so I decided to check Yelp and see what was good. This restaurant is small and in a strip mall/grocery store complex. There were a few people in there waiting for their orders, but no one actually eating. We ordered sweet and sour chicken, bourbon chicken, fried dumplings and pork fried rice. All of it was quite delicious. My only complaint is just that the chicken that came with the sweet and sour was very small and a lot of them had no chicken in them, it was just fried breading. The lady at the counter was nice, but not overly nice. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area looking for good Chinese food. read more
