We were very pleased with our meal at Shanghai. While it is set up as a counter service takeout place, they also have four tables inside and another outside where you can sit and enjoy their food. At one point in our visit all four well-spaced tables were occupied, so dining in is not an unusual activity. We figured out what we wanted for our late lunch and ordered at the counter, in my case their Bourbon Chicken. I got the large size and it turned out to be so large I took about a third home for the next day. It wasn't as syrupy sweet as you tend to find in food courts but a nice reasonable flavor with some sweet brown sauce. The person who we interacted with was nice, offering us disposable plates and silverware. Horrible food. They changed the order without asking. They charged for two egg rolls but only provided one. The noodles were not provided. The shrimp were overcooked. Initially, they told me that they didn't offer delivery and that I would have to place the order through Door Dash. I called twice, and they asked me if they had received my order from Door Dask. They told me that they didn't. I then placed an order with a different restaurant. TL: DR I can't imagine worse restaurant food or worse service. I never wrote a negative review before, but I must warn future customers. When I discussed these issues with an associate, she pretended not to understand me. She connected me to her manager, who blamed me for their poor customer service. When I continued to try to explain, she pretended not to speak English and hung up on me. WARNING: Do not eat at this restaurant. The food is poor, and the service is as bad as possible. Their lack of concern for their customers reflects their hostile attitude toward criticism. I had such high hopes for this place given the reviews but it really was not good. The pork dumplings were the only acceptable item. My crispy seafood noodle was not crispy and the noodles were the wrong kind. The sweet and sour pork was weird -- over battered lumps of pork served with a radioactive orange sauce. And the house special fried rice had barely anything in it. Even the hot and sour soup was lacking. The restaurant is in a strip mall, and wasn't really anything better than what you would expect from a strip mall/food court sort of place. The lunch specials were really cheap, but it wasn't awesome. I had moo goo gai pan, which I haven't had in years and I was left really disappointed. The egg roll was fine. This is a traditional Chinese food restaurant with a healthy carry out business. I have enjoyed there food since 2015 and have never been disappointed. My favorite is the General Taso meal. Another great meal is the beef and broccoli with fried rice. Of particular note is the spicy green beans, they are very nice, always properly cooked. While this is a small business that has limited seating it is still a good food stop for a good meal. This is one of the best Chinese restaurants around and is convenient for the beach crowd.
