I was looking for a quick lunch bite, so I figured any port in a storm, expecting a not great experience. But,...... I was pleasantly surprised. The place had plenty of simple, but clean seating indoors. They also seemed to do a good bit of both drive through and take away business. Placed my order at the counter (General Tso's chicken) and it was brought out to me pretty quickly. The food itself was piping hot, and was good, not great. It seemed heavily seasoned (slat, MSG?) which was a bit overpowering. It worked for me, but I don't think I'd seek out China City again. read more

All of the items we tried were delicious! Hot and sour soup for the win! This spot is definitely better suited for take out. We did eat there but it was a eat quick and leave. This is excellent Chinese food! The owner is incredibly nice. I ordered lunch for 7 people, a variety of everything. I have a personal way to rate Chinese takeout places I've used for many years, esp growing up in NY. If the BBQ ribs appetizer and Hot and Sour soup are legit, you can tell the Chinese food will be good or bad. Those are two items that a Chinese food restaurant will put love into if they are a quality restaurant. Both these items were fantastic.. Ribs outstanding. We ordered a little off everything and this place was fantastic and everyone mentioned how good it was!! I wish I could find decent quality like this in Miami and Ft Lauderdale, I'd order weekly. I came by today, the day after hurricane Ian, because like many others, I'm still without power. The restaurant was insanely busy and the staff was powering through it, pushing food out fast and being so sweet and patient even when customers had a million questions lol. I was craving Chinese food something fierce and it seemed like all the Chinese places in town were shut down because of this virus. Called China City Express and to my delight they were open!! So I hopped in my car and drove over to get me some grub. They have a drive through!! I'm from Alaska. We are super lucky/spoiled up there and have numerous very very good chinese food places. All my friends in Florida say down here the chinese is crap. Well my friends you obviously never been to this place. I had sweet and sour chicken, crab rangoon and brocolli beef. Everything was super fresh (I had to wait in my car for 10-15 minutes while they cooked everything but it was more than worth it!!) Besides being fresh the beef and broccoli stood out. That sauce was life!! And I was highly impressed with the crab rangoon. I leave Florida here in a few days and best believe I will be hitting up that drive through again. Next time I'll try to remember to take pictures before stuffing my face!! P.S. The only wierd thing is they didnt have any Mongolian Beef or Chicken. Is that not a thing down here?? The egg roll was good and the service was fast. However, my wife and I did not like anything else here. The chicken had a peace in it that should have been thrown out, in my general tso chicken. The dish my wife had (chicken and veggies) had very little flavor with hints of a strange floury/koolade taste. I am sorry, I will never go back to this place. I do not wish them any harm from this review, I am happy for the people that like this place, maybe I just went on a bad night, who knows. Ordered beef fried rice, chicken teriyaki skewers, and fortune cookies. Awhile back. Beef fried rice was just fried rice... not even really any veggies and NO beef. Chicken skewers were old over cooked and dry, and the fortune cookies were stale and like rubber. I called and spoke with a lady Mgr and explained I was about 20 miles away so she gave me a credit. Cool. I went to honor that credit today, they found my name and number and said ok. I pull around and wait for them to bring it out.. (covid).. and some manager guy comes out with my food and starts lecturing me about store policy. UMMM... OK??? So I tell him they need to do better quality control and pay attention to orders... took my food and left. Got home and WTF! Order is part messed up the other part bad... i called and the little jackoff that lectured me decided to scream at me over the phone and hang up on me. I have to echo the previous comments; clean restaurant, tasty food, reasonable prices, friendly staff. I also agree that the General Tso's Chicken was excellent!
