I was super impressed with how they are handling the food, everything is very covid safe. A full plexiglass window with a microphone makes ordering safe and the food comes in a bank-like drop box. Super cool! I noticed the cashier had also sanitized after taking our card, thats so awesome! That made me feel so safe! The store is extremely clean as well. I have gone to China one for a long time. It is a small place, it seems clean and the people were alway friendly. As we walked in, there was a man who seemed like he was angry at the customers. I recognized none of the people in the back. So I thought I'd go simple, egg fooyoung and dumplings My son got boneless rib tips. Easy staple foods For most weekend nocook meal, I get food delivered from here. It has been consistently above average. These new people are horrible. The egg foo young was burnt . The eggs were hard, rubbery, and the peas weren't cooked. The gravy was liquid brown salt, runny and tasteless. The dumplings sauce was just wrong. There was five spice instead of garlic, ginger, and green onions. Sure experiment but not with the staples. I hope this isn't your signature sauce it was nasty. I don't usually write in here. I'm Jewish so the first two weeks of my life I was crabby from MSG withdrawal. Guess I can say I love Chines/American. This one is very near my home, but there are others almost as close, and this is the one I choose, time after time. It's not that the food is noticeably better than any of the others, they are all about the same, but what sets China One apart is the gentleman who takes your order (the manager?). He is always pleasant, always ready to do whatever you want him to. Examples: One night I called in an order of three combo plates to pick up. When the order was set I asked 10-15 minutes and he said, no 20 to 25. I said, fine, no problem, but he threw in two extra egg rolls for the longer wait, which was not necessary but nice of him. One night sitting there eating I heard an exchange where a young customer had someone else order and when he came in to pay, he said the order was placed wrong and wanted to change it. Even though the part that was wanted to be changed was already cooked, the manager allowed the change, and many of these chinese places would not have done that. One more: I tried tried Kung Po combination one night and loved it. I went for lunch today and wanted to have it again, but it was not listed on the luncheon combo plates, but the man said, no problem I will make it for you and did. Whatever the customer wants, the answer is yes, which is a nice change in an area where customer service is often lousy. read more
