We tried this for the 1st time, I ordered the combination platter with mixed Chinese vegetables, I will start with the rice. Traditional New York Chinese rice is not yellow in color, it is brown. Most Chinese restaurants in this area cater to the Spanish with yellow rice. My husband is Spanish but he agrees the brown colored rice tastes better. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and they give you decent portions. I would not order from here again as the rice was bland tasting. read more

My family and I visit my mom nearby this restaurant and it's become one of our regular take out locations. It's the best Chinese restaurant we've found in Florida. Florida doesn't have many good ones, but this one is good. I didn't like the egg rolls, but all our entres were very good. The chicken is all white meat. We just had lunch here and it's good. If you like NY style American/Chinese food, you will like this place. I had the Szechuan pork and the boss had the shrimp with veggies lunch special. It comes with pork fried rice and a choice of soda/water or an egg roll. I also ordered the hot and sour soup. Both our meals were tasty and it's the best American Chinese we have had here in Sarasota. Still looking for my go-to Chinese Restaurant. Updating my previous review I'm confirming my average 3 Star rating. There were three orders for this visit. My order was Pork Egg Fo Yung. The helping was very generous. I had three separate meals--two dinners from the patties and a lunch from the pork fried rice. The patties were rather bland as was the rice. Additional seasoning would've improved the meal. The sauce was a typical brown gravy and was provided in a separate container. I ordered the combo meal so an egg roll was included. The egg roll was large and once again a bit bland. My wife has Beef and Broccoli. She commented that the beef was tender. That breaks from many other restaurants where the meat is chewy. She enjoyed her entree. My only concern is the beef was rather scant. The order was a combo meal. the next time I order it will be for the full entree to ensure a more generous portion of beef. One of my granddaughters enjoys Pad Thai which was not on the menu. I ordered Lo Mein with fried tofu. The noodles were generous but the tofu portion was very small. She did enjoy the meal but wanted more tofu. The restaurant advertises NY Style. Not sure if it qualifies. read more

I am from NYC and decided to eat here because of the sign they have outside saying "ny Chinese". I felt like they were challenging me & daring me to try it. Well, it's nyc style Chinese food, Bamboo Garden has won the ny challenge, they're legit. I ordered chicken in garlic, it was delicious. The egg roll was a bit bland but you win some you lose some. Quick service! We had Crab Rangoon - delicious and a big portion of 10! I had the sesame chicken which was very good and my husband had General Tso's chicken and he said it was very good. Tried this place for delivery one night since it's right next to my Publix near my house. I thought most of the food wasn't bad, but some things about it were untraditional, and definitely not "New York style". First off, the website is pretty bad and needs to be redone. The digital menu is different than the additional .pdf menu offered, which is different than the hard copy menu I got with my food. So for a first order, we just kind of had to wing it. Probably shouldn't have three different menus floating around out there. Out of everything we ordered, the egg rolls, spring rolls, and crab Rangoon we're definitely tasty, and prepared the best. They were out of all egg foo young and moo shu dishes(not sure how that's possible, or have ever encountered this problem ordering Chinese) , so we settled for pad Thai; it wasn't bad, but just different, with no peanut sauce either. I don't know if they forgot it, or just don't make it with it? Probably shouldn't have gotten a thai dish at a Chinese place anyways. Lastly, the sesame chicken and rice was unpopular. The chicken was very good quality, but was served in large chucks with very little sauce. And the rice was below average, and a tad mushy. All in all, the fact that the two entrees were below average, being out of two sections of the menu in the moo shoo and egg foo young, and the delivery taking 75 minutes to get a half mile, we unfortunately will not order from here again. read more

Very good lunch I should get food from here more often. I walked into a clean place with a happy order taker with a view of the kitchen where you can see orders being filled by an experienced pair of cooks. I did not order ahead but others that came after me did for both eating in and taking out, and everything went along smoothly. For me, it took less than 10 minutes for an order of General Tso's Chicken. Even though they have a handful of tables I got my food to go and headed out. Being covered in a sweet sauce, General Tso's Chicken is not a good dish to review. I also don't know the difference between New York Chinese food and Chinese food from someplace else. What I can say is the chicken was in lots of nice nugget sized pieces, I liked the brown rice, but mostly the flavor was that delicious sauce. Good Chinese is hard to come by in Sarasota. With that being said its not the best take out, but not the worst here either. I'd call it a step below mediocre. The biggest turn off was the open screen door in the kitchen..insect/flies could come right in. Not good when you don't have a great immune system, & this is FL. Food was typical strip mall pre-fab Chinese take out. Thought it was a little pricey for the quality. Tip: the Crab Rangoon comes in a large portion but is very onion-y, mildly sweet. I was never a big fan of this place in the beginning. BUT after they changed owners and management early Jan of 2019 this place has done a complete 180! I wasn't a big fan of it before, but the new ownership is absolutely incredible. they have the most amazing food filled with so much flavor. My girlfriend is one of those health nuts and she told them her dietary restrictions and they went out of their way to come up with a new recipe just for her and it was delicious. Wow! Yelp was right on the money with this restaurant at 4 stars. I went in and order pork fried rice, general tsao's chicken, lo mein and beef and broccoli. The pork fried rice was not bad and had good flavor. The general tsao's chicken was sloppy with too much sauce that made it soggy. The lo mein was legit and had great flavor with good tasting veggies and protein. The beef and broccoli is also very good with the beef being soft and velvety and had a good mix of sauce w/ broccoli. The restaurant had a huge mess with kids stuff all over on one side. A lot of people working some wore a mask some didn't have it on properly hanging off ear. The food was ok. Wasn't the best ever and was not terrible. The fried rice was not yellow like NY style is. It was like brown like soy sauce on white rice w peas and carrots and onions in it. The rice lack flavor. Just what I wanted, and just what I ordered. Wonton soup had good flavor. I'm an Egg Foo Yung person, and theirs is delicious.

Well I have to update my review unfortunately this location has been sold and changed hands and while they spruced up the front my first order of $27 for lo mein sesame chicken and a large wonton soup was truly unacceptable. Everything in the chicken seem to be preheated and the lo mein had a very strange smell and taste to it it might even be one star I believe the name to Shanghai Gardens or something like that read more

Customer service was great but food was not! $44 worth of food that was just not good. The sweet and sour sauce was not even red, we weren't sure what kind of sauce it was. Our go to favorite was great with everything but General Tso which was mushy so we just stopped ordering that but it's several family members favorite so it was a bummer. Tried this new place tonight and everything was great! We could rave about every single dish and the general Tso was crispy with great flavor...it was a bit overcooked but still delicious. This is our new favorite Chinese place for sure. Glad we tried it! We moved here 4.5 years ago and tried many Chinese takeout places that were much worse than we are used to.
