Just had China King for the first time. I had an expectation that it would be meh, but I was very wrong. I ordered on their website, which made it easy. Then I showed up and found a bustling restaurant, with at least 5 people working in the kitchen. After a short wait, I picked up my food, neatly packed in a box and brought it home. It looked good but the taste would be the real test. Vegetables that snap because they are fresh. Rice that was just the right amount of sticky and fluffy. Shrimp that was cooked perfectly and seemed fresh and with just the right amount of spice. I dare say this might be the best Chinese food I've ever had. I should have tried this place much sooner but am thrilled to add another restaurant into the rotation...as soon as I get through all these leftovers! read more

I praise when I am able to, but this isn't one of those times. Our order consisted of egg rolls, spring rolls, egg drop soup, special fried rice, and orange beef. The egg rolls and spring rolls were mushy and. Had almost no filling. The egg drop soup was cold and had the consistency of mucous. The fried rice had almost no shrimp (2 pieces), 3 slivers of chicken, and 3 small pieces of pork. The orange beef was bland and clumped together. It was basically general tso's but large wads of old meat. Extremely chewy. My friend and I both wound up getting very sick and nauseous for 12 hours. This is a place to be wary of. Ordered online and noticed chicken fingers were not an item in the pupu platter but also not an appetizer option. I called to ask if chicken fingers were available for order and was told only chicken wings or chicken teriyaki. I found this odd but still decided to continue with my online order. I arrived to pickup my order and asked a woman , who I believe was the owner , if chicken fingers were a menu item coming in the future. The women looked disgusted at my question , asked if it was my first time to their restaurant (it was but not sure what that had to do with my question ) and was told that sweet n sour chicken fingers were available. I explained I didn't want sweet n sour - just the chicken finger - to which I was told the sauce is on the side. I explained that I had called to inquire and was not given the option but wish I had known or I would have ordered. Again she looked disgusted and handed me my order. I asked for duck sauce and hot sauce , to which she pointed to packets. I asked for fresh duck sauce and was told that wasn't an option. I brought my order home and was not impressed. The beef and chicken teriyaki was burnt and covered in red sauce. The chicken wings were a color of yellow - something you'd see out of a mall restaurant in the food court. This place went from a go-to Chinese restaurant to a no-go place! They must have changed ownership. The food is disgustingly bad now. We ordered General Tso's lunch special and a Garlic Shrimp lunch special, along with 4 extra Egg Rolls and a quart of Hot & Sour soup. We asked for extra spicy and neither had any spice at all. $37 for food our dogs wouldn't even eat!! No pork in the egg roles and only 3 peas and one small cube of a carrot in the fried rice. Looks like Chinese food but tastes pretty lousy. Crab Rangoons were tough and seemingly very old, like a solid inside if you could even tear into it. Beef was gelatinous, likely a very cheap cut of beef soaked in baking soda for far too long. Flavors were disappointing at best. General Tso's was super soggy. OK Chinese take out. Picked up a phoned-in order on a recent Friday night. This is a busy place, many orders coming in and going out. They need to work on their time-to-pick-up estimate... they told me 15 minutes but the food wasn't ready for 40. Food was delicious. Pork fried rice could use a little more pork, peas, onion, egg. It's good, but needs the other stuff to round it out. General Tso's chicken is more sweet than spicy, but still tasty. Overall, this is the local Chinese take-out joint. I was hoping to love this place because is so close by and every now and then you feel like Chinese food...WELL...unfortunately it was a big disappointment. Had the chicken chow main combo and...WHERE'S THE CHICKEN?!?!?!nothing but a soup of onions and possibly cabbage, oh wait, a couple of small pieces of shredded chicken. It comes with a side of supposedly Fried Rice but, it was plain yellow rice with NOTHING I mean NOTHING in it, maybe we found one or two beansprouts THAT WAS IT!!! Sorry, but never again! Went there after the hurricane and they were extremely busy. Everything is made to orders. They had people picking up orders that were called in and taking walk In customers. The first meal I had moving to Venice! I ordered the Lo Mein lunch special and my boyfriend got the sesame chicken. Both were very delicious and satisfying. They packed a lot of the lunch portions and I was surprised at how reasonably priced it was. Definitely going to be my go to fast Chinese food! This take out restaurant has a few seats and because it is only a mile away, I stopped in to get a menu. The owner was so polite and thanked me for coming in while welcoming me to the neighborhood. Now the food; AMAZING AND DELICIOUS! The egg roll was perfect in crunch and flavor, the rice was so delicious and cooked perfectly and the egg foo young was thick and delicious with a perfect light gravy! Another strip mall Chinese place - nothing fancy - but the food was very good. We had Egg Rolls, dumplings, General Tso chicken, sesame chicken, and orange chicken plus white rice. Everything was very good and the meals were plenty for four adults to share with some leftovers for lunch today! If you want takeout Chinese in the Nokomis area (just off I-75) I recommend it. Literally the best take out I've ever had !! First time trying I got the lunch general tso special with an egg role and omg it was so good. The egg roll was fresh and crispy and such good flavor. The food here is quite average, but for what it is, they do a good job. You will get a filling plate of lunch for your $5.55. I got the Hunan chicken, and the veggies were plentiful as well as the meat. They cut the meat kind of large, but I think most people will not mind. The woman who owns the restaurant is very nice. I have a good memory from eating here, while the cool Florida breeze blew in behind us.
